يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَٰحِدَةٍ وَخَلَقَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنْهُمَا رِجَالًا كَثِيرًا وَنِسَآءً وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِى تَسَآءَلُونَ بِهِۦ وَٱلْأَرْحَامَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَقِيبًا
O people, be wary of your Lord who created you from a single living self, and created from it its paired one, and spread from the two of them many men and women. And be wary of Allah, by whom you appeal to one another, and (be wary regarding) the womb‑relations. Indeed, Allah has always been watchful over you.
Research verse 4:1 →
وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ وَلَا تَتَبَدَّلُوا۟ ٱلْخَبِيثَ بِٱلطَّيِّبِ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوٓا۟ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلِكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حُوبًا كَبِيرًا
And give the orphans their wealth, and do not exchange the foul for the good, and do not eat their wealth along with your wealth; indeed, it has always been a great sin.
Research verse 4:2 →
وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تُقْسِطُوا۟ فِى ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ فَٱنكِحُوا۟ مَا طَابَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ مَثْنَىٰ وَثُلَٰثَ وَرُبَٰعَ فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا۟ فَوَٰحِدَةً أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَعُولُوا۟
And if you fear that you will not act with equity regarding the orphans, then marry, of the women, those that are good for you, two, or three, or four; but if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry] one, or what your right hands possess. That is nearer to your not becoming burdened.
Research verse 4:3 →
وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلنِّسَآءَ صَدُقَٰتِهِنَّ نِحْلَةً فَإِن طِبْنَ لَكُمْ عَن شَىْءٍ مِّنْهُ نَفْسًا فَكُلُوهُ هَنِيٓـًٔا مَّرِيٓـًٔا
And give the women their truthful due as a free gift; then if they are inwardly content for you about anything of it, so that a soul (is at ease), then consume it — pleasantly, wholesomely.
Research verse 4:4 →
وَلَا تُؤْتُوا۟ ٱلسُّفَهَآءَ أَمْوَٰلَكُمُ ٱلَّتِى جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ قِيَٰمًا وَٱرْزُقُوهُمْ فِيهَا وَٱكْسُوهُمْ وَقُولُوا۟ لَهُمْ قَوْلًا مَّعْرُوفًا
And do not hand over to the foolish your wealth which Allah has made for you as a means of standing firm; but provide for them from it, and clothe them, and speak to them a recognized, decent word.
Research verse 4:5 →
وَٱبْتَلُوا۟ ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغُوا۟ ٱلنِّكَاحَ فَإِنْ ءَانَسْتُم مِّنْهُمْ رُشْدًا فَٱدْفَعُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوهَآ إِسْرَافًا وَبِدَارًا أَن يَكْبَرُوا۟ وَمَن كَانَ غَنِيًّا فَلْيَسْتَعْفِفْ وَمَن كَانَ فَقِيرًا فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ فَإِذَا دَفَعْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ فَأَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ حَسِيبًا
And put the orphans to the test until, when they reach [the age of] marriage; then if you discern in them sound maturity, hand over to them their wealth. And do not consume it in excess and in haste [out of eagerness] that they should grow up. And whoever is free of need, let him hold back; and whoever is in need, let him consume in an appropriate way. Then when you hand over to them their wealth, bring witnesses over them; and Allah suffices as Reckoner.
Research verse 4:6 →
لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنْهُ أَوْ كَثُرَ نَصِيبًا مَّفْرُوضًا
For the men there is an allotted share from what the parents and the near ones have left, and for the women there is an allotted share from what the parents and the near ones have left, whether it is little of it or much — a fixedly-apportioned share.
Research verse 4:7 →
وَإِذَا حَضَرَ ٱلْقِسْمَةَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينُ فَٱرْزُقُوهُم مِّنْهُ وَقُولُوا۟ لَهُمْ قَوْلًا مَّعْرُوفًا
And when, at the division, those of close kin, and the orphans, and the needy are present, then provide for them from it, and speak to them a recognized, decent word.
Research verse 4:8 →
وَلْيَخْشَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَوْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّةً ضِعَٰفًا خَافُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلْيَتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلْيَقُولُوا۟ قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا
And let those fear [God] who, if they were to leave behind them weak offspring, would be afraid for them; so let them be conscious of Allah and let them say a sound, well‑directed word.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَٰلَ ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ ظُلْمًا إِنَّمَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِى بُطُونِهِمْ نَارًا وَسَيَصْلَوْنَ سَعِيرًا
Indeed, those who consume the wealth of the orphans in wrongdoing are only consuming fire into their bellies, and they will enter to burn in a blazing flame.

يُوصِيكُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِىٓ أَوْلَٰدِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ فَإِن كُنَّ نِسَآءً فَوْقَ ٱثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَ وَإِن كَانَتْ وَٰحِدَةً فَلَهَا ٱلنِّصْفُ وَلِأَبَوَيْهِ لِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا ٱلسُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ إِن كَانَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ وَلَدٌ وَوَرِثَهُۥٓ أَبَوَاهُ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلثُّلُثُ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُۥٓ إِخْوَةٌ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلسُّدُسُ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِى بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ لَا تَدْرُونَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ نَفْعًا فَرِيضَةً مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
Allah enjoins you, concerning your children: for the male is a share like the portion of two females. So if they are women, more than two, then for them is two‑thirds of what he has left; and if she is one, then for her is the half. And for his two parents, for each one of them is a sixth of what he has left, if he has a child. But if he has no child and his two parents inherit him, then for his mother is the third; and if he has siblings, then for his mother is the sixth, after any bequest that he bequeaths or a debt. Your fathers and your sons – you do not know which of them is nearer to you in benefit. An apportioned obligation from Allah; indeed, Allah has always been All‑Knowing, All‑Wise.
Research verse 4:11 →
وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ أَزْوَٰجُكُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ ٱلرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِينَ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ وَلَهُنَّ ٱلرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ ٱلثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ وَإِن كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَٰلَةً أَوِ ٱمْرَأَةٌ وَلَهُۥٓ أَخٌ أَوْ أُخْتٌ فَلِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا ٱلسُّدُسُ فَإِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَكْثَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فِى ٱلثُّلُثِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصَىٰ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ غَيْرَ مُضَآرٍّ وَصِيَّةً مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَلِيمٌ
And for you is half of what your spouses leave, if they have no child; but if they have a child, then for you is a fourth of what they leave, after any directive they direct with it, or a debt. And for them is a fourth of what you leave, if you have no child; but if you have a child, then for them is an eighth of what you leave, after any directive you direct with it, or a debt. And if a man is caused to be inherited from as kalālah, or a woman, and he has a brother or a sister, then for each one of the two is a sixth; but if they are more than that, then they are partners in a third, after any directive that is directed with it, or a debt, without being one who causes harm — a directive from Allah; and Allah is All‑Knowing, Forbearing.
Research verse 4:12 →
تِلْكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِ وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
Those are the boundaries of Allah; and whoever obeys Allah and His messenger, He will admit him into gardens beneath which rivers flow, remaining therein, and that is the tremendous success.
Research verse 4:13 →
وَمَن يَعْصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ نَارًا خَٰلِدًا فِيهَا وَلَهُۥ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ
And whoever defies Allah and His messenger and oversteps His bounds, He will make him enter a fire, remaining in it, and for him is a degrading punishment.
Research verse 4:14 →
وَٱلَّٰتِى يَأْتِينَ ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ مِن نِّسَآئِكُمْ فَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةً مِّنكُمْ فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلْبُيُوتِ حَتَّىٰ يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ ٱلْمَوْتُ أَوْ يَجْعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلًا
And those women of yours who commit the indecency, then call to witness against them four from among you; so if they bear witness, then restrain them in the houses until death fully takes them, or Allah makes for them a way.
Research verse 4:15 →
وَٱلَّذَانِ يَأْتِيَٰنِهَا مِنكُمْ فَـَٔاذُوهُمَا فَإِن تَابَا وَأَصْلَحَا فَأَعْرِضُوا۟ عَنْهُمَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا
And the two among you who come to it, then harm them both; but if they turn back and make things right, then turn away from them. Indeed, Allah has always been One who repeatedly turns (back) and is merciful.
Research verse 4:16 →
إِنَّمَا ٱلتَّوْبَةُ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِجَهَٰلَةٍ ثُمَّ يَتُوبُونَ مِن قَرِيبٍ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَتُوبُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
Indeed, the turning-back is only upon Allah for those who do the bad thing in ignorance, then they turn back soon; so those—Allah turns back toward them, and Allah has always been Knowing, Wise.
Research verse 4:17 →
وَلَيْسَتِ ٱلتَّوْبَةُ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ قَالَ إِنِّى تُبْتُ ٱلْـَٰٔنَ وَلَا ٱلَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
And the turning-back is not for those who do the bad deeds until, when death is present to one of them, he says, “Indeed, I have turned back now,” nor for those who die while they are concealers (of the truth). Those—We have prepared for them a painful punishment.
Research verse 4:18 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ أَن تَرِثُوا۟ ٱلنِّسَآءَ كَرْهًا وَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ لِتَذْهَبُوا۟ بِبَعْضِ مَآ ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ إِلَّآ أَن يَأْتِينَ بِفَٰحِشَةٍ مُّبَيِّنَةٍ وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ فَإِن كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تَكْرَهُوا۟ شَيْـًٔا وَيَجْعَلَ ٱللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا
O you who have believed, it is not permitted for you to inherit women against their will, and do not constrain them so that you may go off with some of what you have given them, unless they come with an evident indecency. And live together with them in a recognized good manner; then if you dislike them, it may be that you dislike something while Allah places in it much good.
Research verse 4:19 →
وَإِنْ أَرَدتُّمُ ٱسْتِبْدَالَ زَوْجٍ مَّكَانَ زَوْجٍ وَءَاتَيْتُمْ إِحْدَىٰهُنَّ قِنطَارًا فَلَا تَأْخُذُوا۟ مِنْهُ شَيْـًٔا أَتَأْخُذُونَهُۥ بُهْتَٰنًا وَإِثْمًا مُّبِينًا
And if you intend the exchanging of one partner in place of another, and you have given one of them a great sum, then do not take anything from it. Would you take it as a blatant fabrication and an evident sin?
Research verse 4:20 →
وَكَيْفَ تَأْخُذُونَهُۥ وَقَدْ أَفْضَىٰ بَعْضُكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَأَخَذْنَ مِنكُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظًا
And how can you take it, when some of you has reached intimately to some [other], and they have taken from you a weighty covenant?
Research verse 4:21 →
وَلَا تَنكِحُوا۟ مَا نَكَحَ ءَابَآؤُكُم مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَٰحِشَةً وَمَقْتًا وَسَآءَ سَبِيلًا
And do not contract marriage with those whom your fathers have contracted marriage with, from among the women, except what has already passed. Indeed, it has been an outrageous indecency and a cause of loathing, and an evil path.
Research verse 4:22 →
حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَّهَٰتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُكُمْ وَأَخَوَٰتُكُمْ وَعَمَّٰتُكُمْ وَخَٰلَٰتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُ ٱلْأَخِ وَبَنَاتُ ٱلْأُخْتِ وَأُمَّهَٰتُكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِىٓ أَرْضَعْنَكُمْ وَأَخَوَٰتُكُم مِّنَ ٱلرَّضَٰعَةِ وَأُمَّهَٰتُ نِسَآئِكُمْ وَرَبَٰٓئِبُكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِى فِى حُجُورِكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِى دَخَلْتُم بِهِنَّ فَإِن لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ دَخَلْتُم بِهِنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَحَلَٰٓئِلُ أَبْنَآئِكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِنْ أَصْلَٰبِكُمْ وَأَن تَجْمَعُوا۟ بَيْنَ ٱلْأُخْتَيْنِ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
Forbidden to you are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your paternal aunts, your maternal aunts, the daughters of your brother, the daughters of your sister, your mothers who suckled you, your sisters through suckling, the mothers of your women, and your step‑daughters who are in your laps from among your women with whom you have entered into (consummation); but if you have not entered into them, then there is no blame upon you; and (also forbidden are) the spouses of your sons who are from your loins, and that you combine between two sisters—except what has already passed. Indeed, Allah has always been All‑Forgiving, Merciful.
Research verse 4:23 →
وَٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتُ مِنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ إِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ كِتَٰبَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَأُحِلَّ لَكُم مَّا وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكُمْ أَن تَبْتَغُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِكُم مُّحْصِنِينَ غَيْرَ مُسَٰفِحِينَ فَمَا ٱسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِهِۦ مِنْهُنَّ فَـَٔاتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ فَرِيضَةً وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِيمَا تَرَٰضَيْتُم بِهِۦ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلْفَرِيضَةِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
And [also prohibited to you are] the protected women from among the women, except what your right hands possess — a written ordinance of God upon you. And permitted to you is what is beyond that, that you seek [them] with your wealth, being protectors [yourselves], not ones who pour out [sexual intercourse] indiscriminately. So for whatever you sought enjoyment with from them, then give them their payments as an obligation; and there is no burden upon you regarding what you mutually agree to after the obligation. Indeed, God has always been All‑Knowing, All‑Wise.
Research verse 4:24 →
وَمَن لَّمْ يَسْتَطِعْ مِنكُمْ طَوْلًا أَن يَنكِحَ ٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ فَمِن مَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُم مِّن فَتَيَٰتِكُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِإِيمَٰنِكُم بَعْضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍ فَٱنكِحُوهُنَّ بِإِذْنِ أَهْلِهِنَّ وَءَاتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ مُحْصَنَٰتٍ غَيْرَ مُسَٰفِحَٰتٍ وَلَا مُتَّخِذَٰتِ أَخْدَانٍ فَإِذَآ أُحْصِنَّ فَإِنْ أَتَيْنَ بِفَٰحِشَةٍ فَعَلَيْهِنَّ نِصْفُ مَا عَلَى ٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتِ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِىَ ٱلْعَنَتَ مِنكُمْ وَأَن تَصْبِرُوا۟ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
And whoever among you has not the capacity to marry the protected believing women, then [let him marry] from what your right hands control, from your youthful believing females. And Allah is most knowing of your faith; some of you are from others. So marry them with the permission of their people, and give them their compensations in an acknowledged way, [while they are] protected, not ones who pour out [themselves] promiscuously, nor ones taking [secret] companions. Then when they have been protected, if they come with an indecency, then upon them is half of what is upon the protected women of the punishment. That is for whoever among you fears strain; and that you endure is better for you. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
Research verse 4:25 →
يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَكُمْ وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ سُنَنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَيَتُوبَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ
Allah intends to make clear to you, and to guide you to the paths of those before you, and to turn back toward you; and Allah is Knowing, Wise.
Research verse 4:26 →
وَٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتُوبَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَيُرِيدُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ أَن تَمِيلُوا۟ مَيْلًا عَظِيمًا
And Allah wants to turn back toward you, while those who follow the lusts want you to lean away with a tremendous leaning.
Research verse 4:27 →
يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُخَفِّفَ عَنكُمْ وَخُلِقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ ضَعِيفًا
Allah wants to lighten [the burden] for you, and the human being has been created weak.
Research verse 4:28 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَأْكُلُوٓا۟ أَمْوَٰلَكُم بَيْنَكُم بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَٰرَةً عَن تَرَاضٍ مِّنكُمْ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا
O you who have attained faith, do not consume your wealth among yourselves by what is null and vain, except that it be a trade arising from mutual satisfaction among you; and do not kill your own selves. Indeed, Allah has always been merciful towards you.
Research verse 4:29 →
وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ عُدْوَٰنًا وَظُلْمًا فَسَوْفَ نُصْلِيهِ نَارًا وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرًا
And whoever does that in overstepping and wrongdoing, then We shall soon make him enter a fire; and that is, upon Allah, easy.
Research verse 4:30 →
إِن تَجْتَنِبُوا۟ كَبَآئِرَ مَا تُنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ نُكَفِّرْ عَنكُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْ وَنُدْخِلْكُم مُّدْخَلًا كَرِيمًا
If you keep away from the great [offences] of what you are forbidden from, We will cover over from you your misdeeds, and We will admit you to an honorable place of entry.
Research verse 4:31 →
وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا۟ مَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا ٱكْتَسَبُوا۟ وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا ٱكْتَسَبْنَ وَسْـَٔلُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مِن فَضْلِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًا
And do not long for what Allah has given, by it, some of you over others. For the men is an assigned share from what they have acquired, and for the women is an assigned share from what they have acquired. And ask Allah from His bounty; indeed, Allah has always been Knowing of every thing.
Research verse 4:32 →
وَلِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مَوَٰلِىَ مِمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ عَقَدَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ فَـَٔاتُوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدًا
And for each [group] We have made successors concerning what the parents and the near relatives leave behind; and those whom your oaths have bound, then give them their allotted share. Indeed, Allah has always been Witness over every thing.
Research verse 4:33 →
ٱلرِّجَالُ قَوَّٰمُونَ عَلَى ٱلنِّسَآءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَبِمَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ مِنْ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ فَٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُ قَٰنِتَٰتٌ حَٰفِظَٰتٌ لِّلْغَيْبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ ٱللَّهُ وَٱلَّٰتِى تَخَافُونَ نُشُوزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوهُنَّ وَٱهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ وَٱضْرِبُوهُنَّ فَإِنْ أَطَعْنَكُمْ فَلَا تَبْغُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلًا إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيًّا كَبِيرًا
The men are maintainers, standing over the women, by what Allah has given some of them over others, and by what they have spent out of their wealth. So the sound (in conduct) women are devoutly committed, guarding the unseen by what Allah has guarded. And those whose uprising you fear, then admonish them, and leave them apart in the beds, and separate from them. Then if they comply with you, do not seek a course against them. Indeed, Allah has always been Most-High, Most-Great.
Research verse 4:34 →
وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ شِقَاقَ بَيْنِهِمَا فَٱبْعَثُوا۟ حَكَمًا مِّنْ أَهْلِهِۦ وَحَكَمًا مِّنْ أَهْلِهَآ إِن يُرِيدَآ إِصْلَٰحًا يُوَفِّقِ ٱللَّهُ بَيْنَهُمَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا خَبِيرًا
And if you fear a rift between the two of them, then send an arbiter from his people and an arbiter from her people. If they both intend repair, Allah will bring harmony between them. Indeed, Allah has always been All‑Knowing, All‑Aware.
Research verse 4:35 →
وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَيْـًٔا وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَٰنًا وَبِذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِ وَٱلْجَارِ ذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْجَارِ ٱلْجُنُبِ وَٱلصَّاحِبِ بِٱلْجَنۢبِ وَٱبْنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ مُخْتَالًا فَخُورًا
And serve Allah and do not join anything with Him; and show excellence toward the parents, and toward the possessor of kinship, and the orphans, and the needy, and the neighbor who is a possessor of kinship, and the neighbor who is distant, and the companion at one’s side, and the son of the path, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not love whoever is self-exalting, boastful.
Research verse 4:36 →
ٱلَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ بِٱلْبُخْلِ وَيَكْتُمُونَ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُّهِينًا
Those who withhold and command people to withhold, and conceal what Allah has given them out of His bounty; and We have made ready for the concealers (of the truth) a degrading punishment.
Research verse 4:37 →
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ رِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَلَا بِٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ وَمَن يَكُنِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ لَهُۥ قَرِينًا فَسَآءَ قَرِينًا
And those who spend their wealth for the showing‑off of people, while they do not trust in Allah nor in the Last Day; and whoever has Satan as a close‑joined companion—how wretched a companion (that is).
Research verse 4:38 →
وَمَاذَا عَلَيْهِمْ لَوْ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ وَأَنفَقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِمْ عَلِيمًا
And what would be upon them if they believed in Allah and the Last Day and spent out of what Allah has provided them? And Allah has always been all-knowing of them.
Research verse 4:39 →
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ وَإِن تَكُ حَسَنَةً يُضَٰعِفْهَا وَيُؤْتِ مِن لَّدُنْهُ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا
Indeed, Allah does not wrong [anyone] by the weight of a speck; and if it is a good deed, He makes it manifold and grants, from His very presence, a tremendous reward.
Research verse 4:40 →
فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۭ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شَهِيدًا
So what [will it be] when We bring from every community a witness, and We bring you over these as a witness?
Research verse 4:41 →
يَوْمَئِذٍ يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَعَصَوُا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ لَوْ تُسَوَّىٰ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَلَا يَكْتُمُونَ ٱللَّهَ حَدِيثًا
On that Day, those who covered [the truth] and defied the Messenger will wish that the earth were made level with them, and they will not conceal from Allah any speech.
Research verse 4:42 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنتُمْ سُكَٰرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ تَعْلَمُوا۟ مَا تَقُولُونَ وَلَا جُنُبًا إِلَّا عَابِرِى سَبِيلٍ حَتَّىٰ تَغْتَسِلُوا۟ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرْضَىٰٓ أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَآءَ أَحَدٌ مِّنكُم مِّنَ ٱلْغَآئِطِ أَوْ لَٰمَسْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا۟ مَآءً فَتَيَمَّمُوا۟ صَعِيدًا طَيِّبًا فَٱمْسَحُوا۟ بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَفُوًّا غَفُورًا
O you who have attained faith, do not come near the prayer while you are intoxicated, until you know what you are saying; nor while you are in a state of being kept apart, except as ones passing along a way, until you wash yourselves. And if you are ill, or on a journey, or one of you comes from the low place, or you have touched the women, and then you do not find water, then aim for wholesome ground and wipe over your faces and your hands. Indeed, Allah has always been Pardoning, Forgiving.
Research verse 4:43 →
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ نَصِيبًا مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ يَشْتَرُونَ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةَ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن تَضِلُّوا۟ ٱلسَّبِيلَ
Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Book, buying misguidance and wanting that you stray from the path?
Research verse 4:44 →
وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِأَعْدَآئِكُمْ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ نَصِيرًا
And Allah is most knowing of your enemies, and sufficient is Allah as a close guardian, and sufficient is Allah as a giver of support.
Research verse 4:45 →
مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ وَيَقُولُونَ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَٱسْمَعْ غَيْرَ مُسْمَعٍ وَرَٰعِنَا لَيًّۢا بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ وَطَعْنًا فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَٱسْمَعْ وَٱنظُرْنَا لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَقْوَمَ وَلَٰكِن لَّعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
From among those who have turned to Judaism are some who bend the word away from its placements, and they say, “We hear and we disobey,” and, “Hear—[you are] one not to be made to hear,” and, “Attend to us,” twisting with their tongues and stabbing at the religion. Yet if they had said, “We hear and we obey,” and, “Hear,” and, “Look toward us,” it would have been better for them and more upright. But Allah has cursed them for their covering [of the truth], so they do not believe except a little.
Research verse 4:46 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِمَا نَزَّلْنَا مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا مَعَكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن نَّطْمِسَ وُجُوهًا فَنَرُدَّهَا عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَارِهَآ أَوْ نَلْعَنَهُمْ كَمَا لَعَنَّآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلسَّبْتِ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ مَفْعُولًا
O you who have been given the Book, trust in what We have sent down, as one confirming what is with you, before We efface faces and so turn them back upon their backs, or We curse them as We cursed the companions of the Sabbath; and the command of Allah is one that is carried out.
Research verse 4:47 →
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدِ ٱفْتَرَىٰٓ إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا
Indeed, Allah does not cover/forgive that anything be joined with Him, but He covers/forgives what is apart from that for whom He wills. And whoever joins (others) with Allah has indeed fabricated a tremendous sin.
Research verse 4:48 →
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُزَكُّونَ أَنفُسَهُم بَلِ ٱللَّهُ يُزَكِّى مَن يَشَآءُ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا
Have you not seen those who declare themselves purified? Rather, it is Allah who purifies whom He wills, and they are not wronged in the least — not [even] as a twisted thread.
Research verse 4:49 →
ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ وَكَفَىٰ بِهِۦٓ إِثْمًا مُّبِينًا
Look how they fabricate the lie against Allah, and sufficient is that as a clear sin.
Research verse 4:50 →
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ نَصِيبًا مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْجِبْتِ وَٱلطَّٰغُوتِ وَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ أَهْدَىٰ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ سَبِيلًا
Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Book: they trust in al‑jibt and al‑tāghūt, and they say, regarding those who have covered [the truth], “These are more rightly guided, as to a path, than those who have attained faith.”
Research verse 4:51 →
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَمَن يَلْعَنِ ٱللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ نَصِيرًا
Those are the ones whom Allah has cursed; and whomever Allah curses, you will never find for him any helper.
Research verse 4:52 →
أَمْ لَهُمْ نَصِيبٌ مِّنَ ٱلْمُلْكِ فَإِذًا لَّا يُؤْتُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ نَقِيرًا
Or do they have a share in the dominion? Then, in that case, they would not give people even a naqīr.
Research verse 4:53 →
أَمْ يَحْسُدُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ عَلَىٰ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ فَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَآ ءَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُم مُّلْكًا عَظِيمًا
Or is it that they are begrudging the people for what Allah has given them out of His bounty? Yet indeed We have already given the House of Abraham the Scripture and the wisdom, and We granted them a tremendous dominion.
Research verse 4:54 →
فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ ءَامَنَ بِهِۦ وَمِنْهُم مَّن صَدَّ عَنْهُ وَكَفَىٰ بِجَهَنَّمَ سَعِيرًا
So among them is one who trusted in it, and among them is one who turned away from it; and Hell suffices as a blazing fire.
Research verse 4:55 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا سَوْفَ نُصْلِيهِمْ نَارًا كُلَّمَا نَضِجَتْ جُلُودُهُم بَدَّلْنَٰهُمْ جُلُودًا غَيْرَهَا لِيَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا
Indeed, those who have covered up (the truth of) Our signs – We shall soon make them enter a fire. Every time their skins are fully cooked, We replace them with other skins, so that they may taste the punishment. Indeed, Allah has always been Mighty, Wise.
Research verse 4:56 →
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا لَّهُمْ فِيهَآ أَزْوَٰجٌ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ وَنُدْخِلُهُمْ ظِلًّا ظَلِيلًا
And those who have trusted and done sound deeds – We shall admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow, remaining therein forever. They will have in them purified partners, and We shall admit them into a richly shading shade.
Research verse 4:57 →
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تُؤَدُّوا۟ ٱلْأَمَٰنَٰتِ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهَا وَإِذَا حَكَمْتُم بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ أَن تَحْكُمُوا۟ بِٱلْعَدْلِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ نِعِمَّا يَعِظُكُم بِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا
Indeed, Allah instructs you to deliver the trusts to their people, and when you judge between the people, that you judge with equity. Indeed, Allah—how excellent is what He admonishes you with. Indeed, Allah has always been Hearing, Seeing.
Research verse 4:58 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ فَإِن تَنَٰزَعْتُمْ فِى شَىْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا
O you who have attained faith, comply with Allah, and comply with the Messenger, and those entrusted with the command among you. Then if you contend with one another about anything, refer it back to Allah and the Messenger, if you are (indeed) ones who believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is better and more excellent in (its) outcome.
Research verse 4:59 →
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَحَاكَمُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّٰغُوتِ وَقَدْ أُمِرُوٓا۟ أَن يَكْفُرُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَيُرِيدُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَن يُضِلَّهُمْ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا
Have you not seen those who claim that they have trusted in what has been sent down to you and what was sent down before you? They want to mutually seek judgment by the rebellious force, though they had been commanded to reject it; and the satan wants to lead them astray into a far‑reaching straying.
Research verse 4:60 →
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ رَأَيْتَ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَنكَ صُدُودًا
And when it is said to them, “Come up to what Allah has sent down and to the Messenger,” you see the hypocrites turning away from you with a thorough turning aside.
Research verse 4:61 →
فَكَيْفَ إِذَآ أَصَٰبَتْهُم مُّصِيبَةٌۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ ثُمَّ جَآءُوكَ يَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَدْنَآ إِلَّآ إِحْسَٰنًا وَتَوْفِيقًا
So what [will they do] when a misfortune strikes them because of what their own hands have sent ahead, then they come to you, swearing by Allah, “We intended nothing but doing good and bringing things into harmony”?
Research verse 4:62 →
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُ ٱللَّهُ مَا فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَعِظْهُمْ وَقُل لَّهُمْ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ قَوْلًۢا بَلِيغًا
Those are the ones Allah knows what is in their hearts, so turn away from them, yet admonish them, and say to them, regarding themselves, a deeply effective word.
Research verse 4:63 →
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذ ظَّلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ جَآءُوكَ فَٱسْتَغْفَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا
And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed, by Allah’s leave. And if, when they wronged their own selves, they had come to you and sought Allah’s covering-forgiveness, and the Messenger had sought covering-forgiveness for them, they would surely have found Allah ever-returning (to them) and merciful.
Research verse 4:64 →
فَلَا وَرَبِّكَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ حَتَّىٰ يُحَكِّمُوكَ فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُوا۟ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ حَرَجًا مِّمَّا قَضَيْتَ وَيُسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا
But no, by your Lord, they do not (truly) trust until they set you up as the one who decides in what has branched out between them; then they do not find in their (own) selves any constraint regarding what you have decided, and they yield a thorough yielding.
Research verse 4:65 →
وَلَوْ أَنَّا كَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَنِ ٱقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ أَوِ ٱخْرُجُوا۟ مِن دِيَٰرِكُم مَّا فَعَلُوهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ مِّنْهُمْ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ فَعَلُوا۟ مَا يُوعَظُونَ بِهِۦ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَشَدَّ تَثْبِيتًا
And if We had prescribed for them, “Kill your own selves,” or “Go out from your dwellings,” they would not have done it, except a few of them. But if they had done what they are being admonished with, it would have been better for them and more strongly stabilizing.
Research verse 4:66 →
وَإِذًا لَّـَٔاتَيْنَٰهُم مِّن لَّدُنَّآ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا
And then We would surely have given them, from Our very presence, a tremendous reward.
Research verse 4:67 →
وَلَهَدَيْنَٰهُمْ صِرَٰطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا
And We would surely have guided them to a straight path.
Research verse 4:68 →
وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ وَٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ وَٱلشُّهَدَآءِ وَٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ وَحَسُنَ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ رَفِيقًا
And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger – then such are with those upon whom Allah has bestowed pleasant good (favor): from the prophets, the constant truth‑upholders, the witnesses, and the ones who are sound and set‑right. And how excellent these are as a close companion‑group.
Research verse 4:69 →
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَضْلُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ عَلِيمًا
That is the bounty from Allah, and Allah suffices as One All-Knowing.
Research verse 4:70 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ خُذُوا۟ حِذْرَكُمْ فَٱنفِرُوا۟ ثُبَاتٍ أَوِ ٱنفِرُوا۟ جَمِيعًا
O you who have believed, take your caution; then move out in detachments, or move out all together.
Research verse 4:71 →
وَإِنَّ مِنكُمْ لَمَن لَّيُبَطِّئَنَّ فَإِنْ أَصَٰبَتْكُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَالَ قَدْ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىَّ إِذْ لَمْ أَكُن مَّعَهُمْ شَهِيدًا
And indeed, among you is one who will surely hold back; so if a misfortune strikes you, he says, “Allah has indeed bestowed favor upon me, since I was not with them as a witness.”
Research verse 4:72 →
وَلَئِنْ أَصَٰبَكُمْ فَضْلٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لَيَقُولَنَّ كَأَن لَّمْ تَكُنۢ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُۥ مَوَدَّةٌ يَٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ مَعَهُمْ فَأَفُوزَ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا
And if a bounty from Allah reaches you, he will surely say—as though there had never been affection between you and him—“If only I had been with them, then I would win a tremendous winning.”
Research verse 4:73 →
فَلْيُقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَمَن يُقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَيُقْتَلْ أَوْ يَغْلِبْ فَسَوْفَ نُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا
So let those who exchange the nearer life for the Hereafter fight in the path of Allah; and whoever fights in the path of Allah, then is killed or overcomes, We shall surely grant him a tremendous reward.
Research verse 4:74 →
وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ ٱلرِّجَالِ وَٱلنِّسَآءِ وَٱلْوِلْدَٰنِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْ هَٰذِهِ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلظَّالِمِ أَهْلُهَا وَٱجْعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيًّا وَٱجْعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ نَصِيرًا
And what is [wrong] with you that you do not fight in the path of Allah, and for the ones made weak among the men and the women and the children, those who say, “Our Lord, bring us out from this town whose people are wrongdoers, and appoint for us from Yourself a guardian, and appoint for us from Yourself a helper”?
Research verse 4:75 →
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱلطَّٰغُوتِ فَقَٰتِلُوٓا۟ أَوْلِيَآءَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ إِنَّ كَيْدَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ كَانَ ضَعِيفًا
Those who have attained faith fight in the path of Allah, while those who have denied (the truth) fight in the path of the rebellious tyrant. So fight the allies of Satan; indeed, the plotting of Satan has always been weak.
Research verse 4:76 →
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ قِيلَ لَهُمْ كُفُّوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقِتَالُ إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُمْ يَخْشَوْنَ ٱلنَّاسَ كَخَشْيَةِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْ أَشَدَّ خَشْيَةً وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا لِمَ كَتَبْتَ عَلَيْنَا ٱلْقِتَالَ لَوْلَآ أَخَّرْتَنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ قُلْ مَتَٰعُ ٱلدُّنْيَا قَلِيلٌ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِّمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰ وَلَا تُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا
Have you not seen those to whom it was said, “Hold back your hands, and establish the prayer, and give the zakah”? But then, when fighting was prescribed for them, suddenly a group of them fear the people as they fear Allah, or with even greater fear, and they said, “Our Lord, why have You prescribed fighting upon us? If only You would delay us to a near term.” Say, “The enjoyment of the worldly life is little, while the Hereafter is better for whoever is mindful (of Allah), and you will not be wronged even [by] a thread-fibre.”
Research verse 4:77 →
أَيْنَمَا تَكُونُوا۟ يُدْرِككُّمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ وَلَوْ كُنتُمْ فِى بُرُوجٍ مُّشَيَّدَةٍ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ حَسَنَةٌ يَقُولُوا۟ هَٰذِهِۦ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ يَقُولُوا۟ هَٰذِهِۦ مِنْ عِندِكَ قُلْ كُلٌّ مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ فَمَالِ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ٱلْقَوْمِ لَا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ حَدِيثًا
Wherever you may be, death will catch up with you, even if you are in fortified towers. And if a good thing touches them, they say, “This is from Allah”; but if an evil thing touches them, they say, “This is from you.” Say, “All is from Allah.” So what is [wrong] with these people that they scarcely understand any discourse?
Research verse 4:78 →
مَّآ أَصَابَكَ مِنْ حَسَنَةٍ فَمِنَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أَصَابَكَ مِن سَيِّئَةٍ فَمِن نَّفْسِكَ وَأَرْسَلْنَٰكَ لِلنَّاسِ رَسُولًا وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًا
Whatever reaches you of a good [outcome] is from Allah; and whatever reaches you of a bad [outcome] is from your own self. And We have sent you to mankind as a messenger, and Allah is sufficient as a witness.
Research verse 4:79 →
مَّن يُطِعِ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ ٱللَّهَ وَمَن تَوَلَّىٰ فَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا
Whoever obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allah; and whoever turns away — We have not sent you over them as a keeper.
Research verse 4:80 →
وَيَقُولُونَ طَاعَةٌ فَإِذَا بَرَزُوا۟ مِنْ عِندِكَ بَيَّتَ طَآئِفَةٌ مِّنْهُمْ غَيْرَ ٱلَّذِى تَقُولُ وَٱللَّهُ يَكْتُبُ مَا يُبَيِّتُونَ فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًا
And they say, “Obedience.” Then when they emerge from being with you, a faction of them spends the night arranging something other than what you say. Yet Allah writes down what they spend the night arranging. So turn away from them, and rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as a trustee (to be relied on).
Research verse 4:81 →
أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ وَلَوْ كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ غَيْرِ ٱللَّهِ لَوَجَدُوا۟ فِيهِ ٱخْتِلَٰفًا كَثِيرًا
So do they not contemplate the Qur’an? And if it had been from other than Allah, they would surely have found in it abundant discrepancy.
Research verse 4:82 →
وَإِذَا جَآءَهُمْ أَمْرٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَمْنِ أَوِ ٱلْخَوْفِ أَذَاعُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَلَوْ رَدُّوهُ إِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ وَإِلَىٰٓ أُو۟لِى ٱلْأَمْرِ مِنْهُمْ لَعَلِمَهُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَنۢبِطُونَهُۥ مِنْهُمْ وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ لَٱتَّبَعْتُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
And when there comes to them a matter from security or fear, they broadcast it. But if they had referred it back to the Messenger and to those in charge of the matter among them, then those of them who extract (its implications) would surely have known it. And were it not for Allah’s bounty upon you and His mercy, you would have followed Satan, except for a few.
Research verse 4:83 →
فَقَٰتِلْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُكَلَّفُ إِلَّا نَفْسَكَ وَحَرِّضِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَكُفَّ بَأْسَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَٱللَّهُ أَشَدُّ بَأْسًا وَأَشَدُّ تَنكِيلًا
So then, fight in the path of Allah; you are not burdened with responsibility except for your own self. And rouse the believers. It may be that Allah will hold back the might of those who have covered [the truth]. And Allah is more intense in might and more intense in exemplary chastisement.
Research verse 4:84 →
مَّن يَشْفَعْ شَفَٰعَةً حَسَنَةً يَكُن لَّهُۥ نَصِيبٌ مِّنْهَا وَمَن يَشْفَعْ شَفَٰعَةً سَيِّئَةً يَكُن لَّهُۥ كِفْلٌ مِّنْهَا وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ مُّقِيتًا
Whoever intercedes with a good intercession will have a share from it; and whoever intercedes with a bad intercession will have a portion from it. And Allah has always been, over every thing, One who allots and provides due share.
Research verse 4:85 →
وَإِذَا حُيِّيتُم بِتَحِيَّةٍ فَحَيُّوا۟ بِأَحْسَنَ مِنْهَآ أَوْ رُدُّوهَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ حَسِيبًا
And when you are given a greeting, then greet with one better than it, or return it; indeed, Allah has always been a Reckoner over every thing.
Research verse 4:86 →
ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ وَمَنْ أَصْدَقُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ حَدِيثًا
Allah—there is no god except Him—will surely gather you to the Day of Standing, there is no doubt about it; and who is more truthful than Allah in discourse?
Research verse 4:87 →
فَمَا لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ فِئَتَيْنِ وَٱللَّهُ أَرْكَسَهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوٓا۟ أَتُرِيدُونَ أَن تَهْدُوا۟ مَنْ أَضَلَّ ٱللَّهُ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ سَبِيلًا
So what is [wrong] with you that you are, regarding the hypocrites, [split into] two factions, while Allah has thrown them back because of what they earned? Do you want to guide someone whom Allah has made go astray? And whomever Allah lets go astray, you will never find for him any way.
Research verse 4:88 →
وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَ كَمَا كَفَرُوا۟ فَتَكُونُونَ سَوَآءً فَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا
They would love it if you would cover over [the truth] just as they have covered over [the truth], so that you would all be alike. So do not take any of them as protectors until they emigrate in the path of Allah. Then if they turn away, seize them and kill them wherever you find them; and do not take from among them a protector or a helper.
Research verse 4:89 →
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍۭ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَٰقٌ أَوْ جَآءُوكُمْ حَصِرَتْ صُدُورُهُمْ أَن يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ أَوْ يُقَٰتِلُوا۟ قَوْمَهُمْ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَسَلَّطَهُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ فَلَقَٰتَلُوكُمْ فَإِنِ ٱعْتَزَلُوكُمْ فَلَمْ يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ وَأَلْقَوْا۟ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلسَّلَمَ فَمَا جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سَبِيلًا
Except for those who join up with a people between whom and you there is a solemn bond, or who come to you with their chests constrained from fighting you or fighting their own people. And had Allah willed, He would surely have empowered them over you, so they would have fought you. So if they keep away from you, and do not fight you, and cast toward you the peace, then Allah has not made for you any way against them.
Research verse 4:90 →
سَتَجِدُونَ ءَاخَرِينَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَأْمَنُوكُمْ وَيَأْمَنُوا۟ قَوْمَهُمْ كُلَّ مَا رُدُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلْفِتْنَةِ أُرْكِسُوا۟ فِيهَا فَإِن لَّمْ يَعْتَزِلُوكُمْ وَيُلْقُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلسَّلَمَ وَيَكُفُّوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ جَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنًا مُّبِينًا
You will find others who want to be safe with you and be safe with their people. Every time they are turned back to the trial, they are plunged down into it. So if they do not keep away from you, and do not throw over to you the peace, and do not hold back their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you come upon them; and those are the ones for whom We have made for you against them a clear authority.
Research verse 4:91 →
وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ أَن يَقْتُلَ مُؤْمِنًا إِلَّا خَطَـًٔا وَمَن قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا خَطَـًٔا فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ وَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَصَّدَّقُوا۟ فَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍ عَدُوٍّ لَّكُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ وَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍۭ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَٰقٌ فَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ وَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ تَوْبَةً مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
And it is not [fitting] for a believer to kill a believer—except by mistake. And whoever kills a believer by mistake, then [his obligation is] the freeing of a believing person and a wadiyah, handed over to his people, unless they remit [it] as an act of charity. But if he was from a people hostile to you, while he was a believer, then [the obligation is only] the freeing of a believing person. And if he was from a people between whom and you there is a binding pact, then a wadiyah, handed over to his people, and the freeing of a believing person. And whoever does not find [the means], then a fast of two consecutive months, as a turning-back from Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
Research verse 4:92 →
وَمَن يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَآؤُهُۥ جَهَنَّمُ خَٰلِدًا فِيهَا وَغَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَعَنَهُۥ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُۥ عَذَابًا عَظِيمًا
And whoever kills a believer deliberately, then his recompense is Jahannam, remaining in it, and Allah is angry with him and has banished him from His mercy, and has made ready for him a tremendous punishment.
Research verse 4:93 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَتَبَيَّنُوا۟ وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ لِمَنْ أَلْقَىٰٓ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلسَّلَٰمَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِنًا تَبْتَغُونَ عَرَضَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا فَعِندَ ٱللَّهِ مَغَانِمُ كَثِيرَةٌ كَذَٰلِكَ كُنتُم مِّن قَبْلُ فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَتَبَيَّنُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًا
O you who have believed, when you strike out in the path of God, then make things clear; and do not say to the one who has cast the peace/safety to you, “You are not a believer,” seeking the transient stuff of the lowly life; for with God are many spoils. Thus you were before, then God bestowed (His) favor upon you; so make things clear. Indeed God has always been fully aware of what you do.
Research verse 4:94 →
لَّا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْقَٰعِدُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُو۟لِى ٱلضَّرَرِ وَٱلْمُجَٰهِدُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُجَٰهِدِينَ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ عَلَى ٱلْقَٰعِدِينَ دَرَجَةً وَكُلًّا وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ وَفَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُجَٰهِدِينَ عَلَى ٱلْقَٰعِدِينَ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا
The believers who sit back are not equal to those—apart from the possessors of impairment—and those who strive in the path of Allah with their wealth and their selves. Allah has given those who strive with their wealth and their selves a higher rank over those who sit back, by one degree; and to each Allah has promised the best. And Allah has given those who strive a great reward over those who sit back.
Research verse 4:95 →
دَرَجَٰتٍ مِّنْهُ وَمَغْفِرَةً وَرَحْمَةً وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
[They have] ranks from Him, and forgiveness, and mercy; and Allah has always been All‑Forgiving, All‑Merciful.
Research verse 4:96 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ ظَالِمِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ قَالُوا۟ فِيمَ كُنتُمْ قَالُوا۟ كُنَّا مُسْتَضْعَفِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ قَالُوٓا۟ أَلَمْ تَكُنْ أَرْضُ ٱللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةً فَتُهَاجِرُوا۟ فِيهَا فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَسَآءَتْ مَصِيرًا
Indeed, those whom the angels take fully (in death) while they are darkening / wronging their own selves, they (the angels) say, “What were you in?” They say, “We were being weakened / rendered weak in the land.” They say, “Was not Allah’s earth spacious, so that you could emigrate within it?” So those—their shelter is Jahannam, and wretched is it as an outcome.
Research verse 4:97 →
إِلَّا ٱلْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ ٱلرِّجَالِ وَٱلنِّسَآءِ وَٱلْوِلْدَٰنِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ حِيلَةً وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ سَبِيلًا
Except the ones who are rendered weak among the men, the women, and the children—those who are not able to find any means (of changing their situation) and are not (even) guided to a way.
Research verse 4:98 →
فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ عَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَعْفُوَ عَنْهُمْ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَفُوًّا غَفُورًا
So those – it is near that Allah will remit [the burden] from them, and Allah has always been exceedingly-remitting, ever-covering.
Research verse 4:99 →
وَمَن يُهَاجِرْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ يَجِدْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُرَٰغَمًا كَثِيرًا وَسَعَةً وَمَن يَخْرُجْ مِنۢ بَيْتِهِۦ مُهَاجِرًا إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ثُمَّ يُدْرِكْهُ ٱلْمَوْتُ فَقَدْ وَقَعَ أَجْرُهُۥ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
And whoever migrates in the path of Allah will find in the earth many places of escape and ample (room). And whoever goes out from his house as one migrating to Allah and His messenger, then death overtakes him, then his reward has indeed fallen due upon Allah; and Allah has always been Forgiving, Merciful.
Research verse 4:100 →
وَإِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَن تَقْصُرُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ إِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَن يَفْتِنَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ كَانُوا۟ لَكُمْ عَدُوًّا مُّبِينًا
And when you strike out in the land, then there is no burden on you that you shorten from the prayer, if you fear that those who have denied (the truth) may put you to trial; indeed, those who have denied (the truth) have always been for you a clear enemy.
Research verse 4:101 →
وَإِذَا كُنتَ فِيهِمْ فَأَقَمْتَ لَهُمُ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ فَلْتَقُمْ طَآئِفَةٌ مِّنْهُم مَّعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُوٓا۟ أَسْلِحَتَهُمْ فَإِذَا سَجَدُوا۟ فَلْيَكُونُوا۟ مِن وَرَآئِكُمْ وَلْتَأْتِ طَآئِفَةٌ أُخْرَىٰ لَمْ يُصَلُّوا۟ فَلْيُصَلُّوا۟ مَعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُوا۟ حِذْرَهُمْ وَأَسْلِحَتَهُمْ وَدَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ تَغْفُلُونَ عَنْ أَسْلِحَتِكُمْ وَأَمْتِعَتِكُمْ فَيَمِيلُونَ عَلَيْكُم مَّيْلَةً وَٰحِدَةً وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِن كَانَ بِكُمْ أَذًى مِّن مَّطَرٍ أَوْ كُنتُم مَّرْضَىٰٓ أَن تَضَعُوٓا۟ أَسْلِحَتَكُمْ وَخُذُوا۟ حِذْرَكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَعَدَّ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُّهِينًا
And when you are among them and you have established the prayer for them, then let a group from them stand with you, and let them take their weapons. Then when they have prostrated, let them be behind you, and let another group come which has not prayed, and let them pray with you, and let them take their caution and their weapons. Those who have denied [the truth] would like that you become heedless of your weapons and your goods, so they would incline upon you with a single inclination. And there is no burden upon you, if there is harm to you from rain or you are ill, that you lay down your weapons; but take your caution. Indeed, Allah has prepared for the deniers a humiliating punishment.
Research verse 4:102 →
فَإِذَا قَضَيْتُمُ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ فَٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قِيَٰمًا وَقُعُودًا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِكُمْ فَإِذَا ٱطْمَأْنَنتُمْ فَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ إِنَّ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ كِتَٰبًا مَّوْقُوتًا
Then when you have completed the ṣalāh, remember Allah standing, and sitting, and on your sides; and when you have become settled, then establish the ṣalāh. Indeed, the ṣalāh has been upon the believers a prescribed writ, set to times.
Research verse 4:103 →
وَلَا تَهِنُوا۟ فِى ٱبْتِغَآءِ ٱلْقَوْمِ إِن تَكُونُوا۟ تَأْلَمُونَ فَإِنَّهُمْ يَأْلَمُونَ كَمَا تَأْلَمُونَ وَتَرْجُونَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَرْجُونَ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
And do not lose strength in seeking out the people. If you are feeling pain, then they too feel pain just as you feel pain, while you hope from Allah for what they do not hope for. And Allah has always been All-Knowing, All-Wise.
Research verse 4:104 →
إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ لِتَحْكُمَ بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِمَآ أَرَىٰكَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَا تَكُن لِّلْخَآئِنِينَ خَصِيمًا
Indeed, We have sent down to you the Book with the truth, so that you may judge between the people by what Allah has made you see, and do not be, for the treacherous, an adversary.
Research verse 4:105 →
وَٱسْتَغْفِرِ ٱللَّهَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
And seek Allah’s covering of faults, for Allah has always been an all-covering (of faults), ever-merciful.
Research verse 4:106 →
وَلَا تُجَٰدِلْ عَنِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْتَانُونَ أَنفُسَهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ خَوَّانًا أَثِيمًا
And do not dispute on behalf of those who betray their own selves; indeed, Allah does not love anyone who is intensely treacherous, persistently sinful.
Research verse 4:107 →
يَسْتَخْفُونَ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَا يَسْتَخْفُونَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ وَهُوَ مَعَهُمْ إِذْ يُبَيِّتُونَ مَا لَا يَرْضَىٰ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطًا
They seek to hide from the people, but they do not seek to hide from Allah; and He is with them when they spend the night plotting what He does not approve of in speech. And Allah has always been all‑encompassing of what they do.
Research verse 4:108 →
هَٰٓأَنتُمْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ جَٰدَلْتُمْ عَنْهُمْ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا فَمَن يُجَٰدِلُ ٱللَّهَ عَنْهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ أَم مَّن يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكِيلًا
Here you are—these people: you have argued on their behalf in the lowly life; so who will argue with Allah on their behalf on the Day of Standing, or who will be an entrusted agent over them?
Research verse 4:109 →
وَمَن يَعْمَلْ سُوٓءًا أَوْ يَظْلِمْ نَفْسَهُۥ ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرِ ٱللَّهَ يَجِدِ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
And whoever does an evil deed or wrongs his own self, then seeks Allah’s covering-forgiveness, will find Allah ever-covering-forgiving, ever-merciful.
Research verse 4:110 →
وَمَن يَكْسِبْ إِثْمًا فَإِنَّمَا يَكْسِبُهُۥ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
And whoever acquires a sin only acquires it against his own self, and Allah has always been All‑Knowing, All‑Wise.
Research verse 4:111 →
وَمَن يَكْسِبْ خَطِيٓـَٔةً أَوْ إِثْمًا ثُمَّ يَرْمِ بِهِۦ بَرِيٓـًٔا فَقَدِ ٱحْتَمَلَ بُهْتَٰنًا وَإِثْمًا مُّبِينًا
And whoever acquires an offence or a sin, then hurls it upon one who is innocent, has indeed borne a calumny and a manifest sin.
Research verse 4:112 →
وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَتُهُۥ لَهَمَّت طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُضِلُّوكَ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَضُرُّونَكَ مِن شَىْءٍ وَأَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَكَ مَا لَمْ تَكُن تَعْلَمُ وَكَانَ فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكَ عَظِيمًا
And were it not for Allah’s favor upon you and His mercy, a faction of them was about to intend to lead you astray; yet they do not lead astray except their own selves, and they do not harm you in anything. And Allah has sent down to you the Book and the wisdom, and has taught you what you had not been knowing; and Allah’s favor upon you has always been tremendous.
Research verse 4:113 →
لَّا خَيْرَ فِى كَثِيرٍ مِّن نَّجْوَىٰهُمْ إِلَّا مَنْ أَمَرَ بِصَدَقَةٍ أَوْ مَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ إِصْلَٰحٍۭ بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ ٱبْتِغَآءَ مَرْضَاتِ ٱللَّهِ فَسَوْفَ نُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا
No good is in much of their secret talk, except [in the case of] whoever commands a donation, or a recognized good, or making things right between people. And whoever does that seeking the approval of Allah, then We will surely grant him a tremendous reward.
Research verse 4:114 →
وَمَن يُشَاقِقِ ٱلرَّسُولَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَيَتَّبِعْ غَيْرَ سَبِيلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ نُوَلِّهِۦ مَا تَوَلَّىٰ وَنُصْلِهِۦ جَهَنَّمَ وَسَآءَتْ مَصِيرًا
And whoever splits away in opposition to the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him, and follows other than the path of the believers – We will turn him over to what he has turned to, and We will make him enter Jahannam; and how bad a place of outcome it is.
Research verse 4:115 →
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا
Indeed, Allah does not cover over (in forgiveness) that He be joined with; but He covers over what is apart from that for whom He wills. And whoever joins (others) with Allah has certainly strayed with a far‑reaching straying.
Research verse 4:116 →
إِن يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ إِنَٰثًا وَإِن يَدْعُونَ إِلَّا شَيْطَٰنًا مَّرِيدًا
They do not call, apart from Him, except females, and they do not call except a defiant satan.
Research verse 4:117 →
لَّعَنَهُ ٱللَّهُ وَقَالَ لَأَتَّخِذَنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ نَصِيبًا مَّفْرُوضًا
Allah has banished him, and he said, “I will surely take from Your servants an allotted share.”
Research verse 4:118 →
وَلَأُضِلَّنَّهُمْ وَلَأُمَنِّيَنَّهُمْ وَلَـَٔامُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّ ءَاذَانَ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ وَلَـَٔامُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ خَلْقَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَن يَتَّخِذِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ وَلِيًّا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَقَدْ خَسِرَ خُسْرَانًا مُّبِينًا
“And I will surely cause them to stray, and I will surely fill them with (vain) expectations, and I will surely command them so they will indeed cut up the ears of the livestock, and I will surely command them so they will indeed alter the creation of Allah. And whoever takes Satan as a protecting ally, apart from Allah, has certainly incurred a manifest loss.”
Research verse 4:119 →
يَعِدُهُمْ وَيُمَنِّيهِمْ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا
He promises them and fills them with (wishful) expectations, but what Satan promises them is nothing but delusion.
Research verse 4:120 →
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ عَنْهَا مَحِيصًا
Those – their shelter is Jahannam, and they will not find any way of escape from it.
Research verse 4:121 →
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقًّا وَمَنْ أَصْدَقُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ قِيلًا
And those who have trusted and done sound deeds – We shall soon admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow, remaining therein forever – a promise of God, in truth. And who is more truthful than God in speech?
Research verse 4:122 →
لَّيْسَ بِأَمَانِيِّكُمْ وَلَآ أَمَانِىِّ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مَن يَعْمَلْ سُوٓءًا يُجْزَ بِهِۦ وَلَا يَجِدْ لَهُۥ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا
It is not by your wishful fancies, nor the wishful fancies of the People of the Book. Whoever does an evil deed will be repaid for it, and he will not find for himself, apart from Allah, any guardian nor any helper.
Research verse 4:123 →
وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ مِن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ نَقِيرًا
And whoever does, of the sound deeds, [whether] male or female, while he is one who trusts [in God]—then those are the ones who will enter the Garden, and they will not be wronged [even] a naqīr.
Research verse 4:124 →
وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ دِينًا مِّمَّنْ أَسْلَمَ وَجْهَهُۥ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ وَٱتَّبَعَ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفًا وَٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ خَلِيلًا
And who is better in judgment‑way than one who has yielded his face to Allah, while he is a doer of good, and has followed the creed of Abraham, as a pure incliner; and Allah took Abraham as a close companion.
Research verse 4:125 →
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ مُّحِيطًا
And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and Allah has always been encompassing every thing.
Research verse 4:126 →
وَيَسْتَفْتُونَكَ فِى ٱلنِّسَآءِ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِيهِنَّ وَمَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ فِى يَتَٰمَى ٱلنِّسَآءِ ٱلَّٰتِى لَا تُؤْتُونَهُنَّ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُنَّ وَتَرْغَبُونَ أَن تَنكِحُوهُنَّ وَٱلْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ ٱلْوِلْدَٰنِ وَأَن تَقُومُوا۟ لِلْيَتَٰمَىٰ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَمَا تَفْعَلُوا۟ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِهِۦ عَلِيمًا
And they seek your ruling concerning the women. Say, “Allah gives you a ruling about them, and (so does) what is being recited to you in the Book, concerning the orphan women to whom you do not give what has been prescribed for them, while you are desirous to marry them, and (concerning) those made weak among the children, and that you stand up for the orphans with equity. And whatever you do of good, then indeed Allah has always been Knowing of it.”
Research verse 4:127 →
وَإِنِ ٱمْرَأَةٌ خَافَتْ مِنۢ بَعْلِهَا نُشُوزًا أَوْ إِعْرَاضًا فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَآ أَن يُصْلِحَا بَيْنَهُمَا صُلْحًا وَٱلصُّلْحُ خَيْرٌ وَأُحْضِرَتِ ٱلْأَنفُسُ ٱلشُّحَّ وَإِن تُحْسِنُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًا
And if a woman fears from her husband arrogance or turning away, then there is no burden on the two of them that they set things right between them with a reconciliation; and reconciliation is better. And the selves have been made to attend to greed. But if you excel in doing good and are mindful (of God), then indeed Allah has always been fully aware of what you do.
Research verse 4:128 →
وَلَن تَسْتَطِيعُوٓا۟ أَن تَعْدِلُوا۟ بَيْنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتُمْ فَلَا تَمِيلُوا۟ كُلَّ ٱلْمَيْلِ فَتَذَرُوهَا كَٱلْمُعَلَّقَةِ وَإِن تُصْلِحُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
And you will never be able to act with complete justice between women, even if you are keen (to do so); so do not incline with all the inclining, leaving her like one suspended. But if you set things right and are mindful (of Allah), then indeed Allah has always been All‑Covering (of faults), Ever‑Merciful.
Research verse 4:129 →
وَإِن يَتَفَرَّقَا يُغْنِ ٱللَّهُ كُلًّا مِّن سَعَتِهِۦ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعًا حَكِيمًا
And if the two separate, Allah will suffice each one out of His ample capacity; and Allah has always been All-Embracing, Wise.
Research verse 4:130 →
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَقَدْ وَصَّيْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَإِيَّاكُمْ أَنِ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَإِن تَكْفُرُوا۟ فَإِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَنِيًّا حَمِيدًا
And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. And We have indeed enjoined upon those who were given the Book before you, and upon you, that you should be ever-conscious of Allah. And if you cover (the truth) / are ungrateful, then surely to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth; and Allah has always been Self‑sufficient, Praiseworthy.
Research verse 4:131 →
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًا
And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and Allah is sufficient as a trustee (to rely upon).
Research verse 4:132 →
إِن يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَيَأْتِ بِـَٔاخَرِينَ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ قَدِيرًا
If He wills, He can make you go away, O people, and bring others; and Allah has always been fully able to do that.
Research verse 4:133 →
مَّن كَانَ يُرِيدُ ثَوَابَ ٱلدُّنْيَا فَعِندَ ٱللَّهِ ثَوَابُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا
Whoever has been wanting the recompense of this nearest life, then with Allah is the recompense of this nearest life and the later one; and Allah has always been Hearing, Seeing.
Research verse 4:134 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُونُوا۟ قَوَّٰمِينَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ شُهَدَآءَ لِلَّهِ وَلَوْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَوِ ٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ إِن يَكُنْ غَنِيًّا أَوْ فَقِيرًا فَٱللَّهُ أَوْلَىٰ بِهِمَا فَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ أَن تَعْدِلُوا۟ وَإِن تَلْوُۥٓا۟ أَوْ تُعْرِضُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًا
O you who have believed, be ones who stand up constantly for equity, witnesses for Allah, even if against your own selves, or the two parents, or the nearest relatives. If he is rich or poor, then Allah has a greater claim to them both. So do not follow desire, so that you be just; and if you twist (it) or turn away, then indeed Allah has always been fully aware of what you do.
Research verse 4:135 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلَّذِى نَزَّلَ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِن قَبْلُ وَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا
O you who have attained faith, commit yourselves to faith in God, and His messenger, and the Book which He has sent down upon His messenger, and the Book which He sent down before; and whoever covers over (the truth of) God, His angels, His writings, His messengers, and the Last Day has surely strayed with a straying far (removed).
Research verse 4:136 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ ٱزْدَادُوا۟ كُفْرًا لَّمْ يَكُنِ ٱللَّهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ سَبِيلًۢا
Indeed, those who have trusted, then covered [the truth], then trusted, then covered [it], then increased in covering [it]—Allah has not been to forgive them, nor to guide them to any way.
Research verse 4:137 →
بَشِّرِ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ بِأَنَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
Inform the hypocrites that for them there is a painful punishment.
Research verse 4:138 →
ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّخِذُونَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَيَبْتَغُونَ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْعِزَّةَ فَإِنَّ ٱلْعِزَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعًا
Those who take the concealers of [truth] as protectors, apart from the believers—do they seek strength with them? For strength, all of it, belongs to Allah.
Research verse 4:139 →
وَقَدْ نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِى ٱلْكِتَٰبِ أَنْ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ يُكْفَرُ بِهَا وَيُسْتَهْزَأُ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْعُدُوا۟ مَعَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَخُوضُوا۟ فِى حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِۦٓ إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا مِّثْلُهُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ جَامِعُ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ فِى جَهَنَّمَ جَمِيعًا
And He has indeed sent down upon you in the Book that when you hear the signs of Allah, that they are covered over by ingratitude and made a subject of mockery, then do not sit with them until they plunge into a discourse other than it. For you would, in that case, be similar to them. Indeed, Allah is One who gathers the hypocrites and the concealers (of the truth) in Hell all together.
Research verse 4:140 →
ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَرَبَّصُونَ بِكُمْ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ فَتْحٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ قَالُوٓا۟ أَلَمْ نَكُن مَّعَكُمْ وَإِن كَانَ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ نَصِيبٌ قَالُوٓا۟ أَلَمْ نَسْتَحْوِذْ عَلَيْكُمْ وَنَمْنَعْكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَٱللَّهُ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَلَن يَجْعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَبِيلًا
Those who lie in wait for you: so if there is for you an opening from Allah, they say, “Were we not with you?”; and if there is for the deniers a share, they say, “Did we not gain mastery over you and shield you from the believers?” So Allah will judge between you on the Day of Standing, and Allah will never make for the deniers, against the believers, any course.
Research verse 4:141 →
إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ يُخَٰدِعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَهُوَ خَٰدِعُهُمْ وَإِذَا قَامُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ قَامُوا۟ كُسَالَىٰ يُرَآءُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ وَلَا يَذْكُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
Indeed, the hypocrites try to deceive Allah, yet He is the One deceiving them. And when they stand up for the prayer, they stand up sluggishly, putting on a show for the people, and they do not remember Allah except a little.
Research verse 4:142 →
مُّذَبْذَبِينَ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ لَآ إِلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَلَآ إِلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ سَبِيلًا
Swaying back and forth between that, belonging neither to these nor to those. And whomever Allah lets sink into error, you will never find for him any way.
Research verse 4:143 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَتُرِيدُونَ أَن تَجْعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلْطَٰنًا مُّبِينًا
O you who have attained faith, do not take the concealers (of truth) as protectors, apart from the believers. Do you want to set up for Allah, against yourselves, a clear authority?
Research verse 4:144 →
إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ فِى ٱلدَّرْكِ ٱلْأَسْفَلِ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ وَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمْ نَصِيرًا
Indeed, the hypocrites are in the lowest tier of the Fire, and you will never find for them any helper.
Research verse 4:145 →
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ تَابُوا۟ وَأَصْلَحُوا۟ وَٱعْتَصَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَأَخْلَصُوا۟ دِينَهُمْ لِلَّهِ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَعَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَسَوْفَ يُؤْتِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا
Except those who turned back, and set things right, and held fast by Allah, and purified their judgment‑way for Allah—then those are with the believers; and Allah will grant the believers a tremendous reward.
Research verse 4:146 →
مَّا يَفْعَلُ ٱللَّهُ بِعَذَابِكُمْ إِن شَكَرْتُمْ وَءَامَنتُمْ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ شَاكِرًا عَلِيمًا
What would Allah do with your punishment, if you are grateful and trust (in Him)? For Allah has always been Appreciative and All‑Knowing.
Research verse 4:147 →
لَّا يُحِبُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْجَهْرَ بِٱلسُّوٓءِ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ إِلَّا مَن ظُلِمَ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ سَمِيعًا عَلِيمًا
Allah does not love the loudness of badness in speech, except from one who has been wronged; and Allah has always been Hearing, Knowing.
Research verse 4:148 →
إِن تُبْدُوا۟ خَيْرًا أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ أَوْ تَعْفُوا۟ عَن سُوٓءٍ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَفُوًّا قَدِيرًا
If you bring a good [thing] into the open, or you conceal it, or you overlook an evil, then indeed Allah has always been One who overlooks and [is] fully able.
Research verse 4:149 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْفُرُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن يُفَرِّقُوا۟ بَيْنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَيَقُولُونَ نُؤْمِنُ بِبَعْضٍ وَنَكْفُرُ بِبَعْضٍ وَيُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَّخِذُوا۟ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ سَبِيلًا
Indeed, those who cover up (the truth) regarding Allah and His messengers, and want to make a separation between Allah and His messengers, and say, “We trust in some and cover up (the truth) regarding others,” and want to take, in between that, a path—
Research verse 4:150 →
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ حَقًّا وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُّهِينًا
Those – they are the deniers in all truth, and We have made ready for the deniers a degrading punishment.
Research verse 4:151 →
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَلَمْ يُفَرِّقُوا۟ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُمْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ سَوْفَ يُؤْتِيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
And those who have trusted in Allah and His messengers and did not make a separation between any one of them – those, He will soon grant them their rewards; and Allah has always been All‑covering in forgiveness, ever‑merciful.
Research verse 4:152 →
يَسْـَٔلُكَ أَهْلُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ أَن تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ كِتَٰبًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَقَدْ سَأَلُوا۟ مُوسَىٰٓ أَكْبَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَرِنَا ٱللَّهَ جَهْرَةً فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّٰعِقَةُ بِظُلْمِهِمْ ثُمَّ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ ٱلْعِجْلَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ فَعَفَوْنَا عَن ذَٰلِكَ وَءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ سُلْطَٰنًا مُّبِينًا
The People of the Scripture ask you to send down upon them a writing from the sky. Yet they had already asked Moses for something greater than that, when they said, “Show us God openly,” so the stunning blast seized them for their wrongdoing. Then they adopted the calf after the clear proofs had come to them; so We effaced that, and We gave Moses an evident authority.
Research verse 4:153 →
وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَهُمُ ٱلطُّورَ بِمِيثَٰقِهِمْ وَقُلْنَا لَهُمُ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْبَابَ سُجَّدًا وَقُلْنَا لَهُمْ لَا تَعْدُوا۟ فِى ٱلسَّبْتِ وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظًا
And We raised the Mount above them because of their covenant, and We said to them, “Enter the gate, prostrating,” and We said to them, “Do not overstep in the Sabbath,” and We took from them a firm, weighty covenant.
Research verse 4:154 →
فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِم مِّيثَٰقَهُمْ وَكُفْرِهِم بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَتْلِهِمُ ٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَقَوْلِهِمْ قُلُوبُنَا غُلْفٌۢ بَلْ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهَا بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
So, because of their breaking of their covenant, and their denial of Allah’s signs, and their killing of the prophets without any right, and their saying, “Our hearts are covered,”—rather, Allah has imprinted upon them because of their denial, so they do not believe except a little.
Research verse 4:155 →
وَبِكُفْرِهِمْ وَقَوْلِهِمْ عَلَىٰ مَرْيَمَ بُهْتَٰنًا عَظِيمًا
And for their covering (the truth) and their saying against Mary a tremendous fabrication,
Research verse 4:156 →
وَقَوْلِهِمْ إِنَّا قَتَلْنَا ٱلْمَسِيحَ عِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَٰكِن شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ لَفِى شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِلَّا ٱتِّبَاعَ ٱلظَّنِّ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ يَقِينًۢا
and for their saying, “Indeed, we killed the Anointed, Jesus son of Mary, the messenger of God.” Yet they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but it was made to appear so to them. And indeed, those who differed concerning him are surely in doubt about it; they have no knowledge of it, only following conjecture. And they certainly did not kill him.
Research verse 4:157 →
بَل رَّفَعَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا
Rather, Allah raised him up to Himself; and Allah has always been overpoweringly strong, all‑wise.
Research verse 4:158 →
وَإِن مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ إِلَّا لَيُؤْمِنَنَّ بِهِۦ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِۦ وَيَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا
And there is none from the People of the Scripture but will most surely trust in him before his death; and on the Day of Standing he will be a witness against them.
Research verse 4:159 →
فَبِظُلْمٍ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ حَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ طَيِّبَٰتٍ أُحِلَّتْ لَهُمْ وَبِصَدِّهِمْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ كَثِيرًا
So, due to wrongdoing from those who became Jews, We made unlawful for them wholesome things that had been made lawful for them, and due to their barring [others] from the path of Allah abundantly.
Research verse 4:160 →
وَأَخْذِهِمُ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ وَقَدْ نُهُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَأَكْلِهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
And for their taking of increase, though they had been forbidden from it, and for their consuming of people’s wealth through what is null and void — and We have prepared for the deniers among them a painful punishment.
Research verse 4:161 →
لَّٰكِنِ ٱلرَّٰسِخُونَ فِى ٱلْعِلْمِ مِنْهُمْ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ وَٱلْمُقِيمِينَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَٱلْمُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ سَنُؤْتِيهِمْ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا
But those firmly grounded in the knowledge among them, and the believers, believe in what has been sent down to you and what was sent down before you; and those who maintain the prayer, and those who give the zakah, and those who believe in Allah and the Last Day — those are the ones We shall grant a tremendous reward.
Research verse 4:162 →
إِنَّآ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ كَمَآ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ نُوحٍ وَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلْأَسْبَاطِ وَعِيسَىٰ وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُونُسَ وَهَٰرُونَ وَسُلَيْمَٰنَ وَءَاتَيْنَا دَاوُۥدَ زَبُورًا
Indeed, We have communicated by inspiration to you, just as We communicated by inspiration to Noah and the prophets after him; and We communicated by inspiration to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants, and Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon; and We granted David a scripture.
Research verse 4:163 →
وَرُسُلًا قَدْ قَصَصْنَٰهُمْ عَلَيْكَ مِن قَبْلُ وَرُسُلًا لَّمْ نَقْصُصْهُمْ عَلَيْكَ وَكَلَّمَ ٱللَّهُ مُوسَىٰ تَكْلِيمًا
And [among them were] messengers whose account We have indeed related to you before, and [among them were] messengers whose account We have not related to you; and Allah spoke to Moses in [actual] speaking.
Research verse 4:164 →
رُّسُلًا مُّبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ لِئَلَّا يَكُونَ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ حُجَّةٌۢ بَعْدَ ٱلرُّسُلِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا
[We sent] messengers as bringers of good news and as warners, so that there would not be for the people, against Allah, any argument after the messengers; and Allah has always been Mighty, Wise.
Research verse 4:165 →
لَّٰكِنِ ٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ إِلَيْكَ أَنزَلَهُۥ بِعِلْمِهِۦ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَشْهَدُونَ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًا
Rather, Allah bears witness to what He has sent down to you—He sent it down with His knowledge—and the angels bear witness; and sufficient is Allah as a Witness.
Research verse 4:166 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا
Indeed, those who covered [the truth] and blocked [others] from the path of Allah have certainly strayed with a far‑reaching straying.
Research verse 4:167 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَظَلَمُوا۟ لَمْ يَكُنِ ٱللَّهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ طَرِيقًا
Indeed, those who have denied and done darkness – Allah has not been to cover for them, nor to guide them to any path,
Research verse 4:168 →
إِلَّا طَرِيقَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرًا
except the path of Hell—remaining in it forever; and that has always been easy for Allah.
Research verse 4:169 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَكُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ بِٱلْحَقِّ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ فَـَٔامِنُوا۟ خَيْرًا لَّكُمْ وَإِن تَكْفُرُوا۟ فَإِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
O people, the Messenger has indeed come to you with the truth from your Lord, so believe; that is better for you. But if you cover [it in ingratitude], then surely to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and Allah has always been All-Knowing, All-Wise.
Research verse 4:170 →
يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَا تَغْلُوا۟ فِى دِينِكُمْ وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلْحَقَّ إِنَّمَا ٱلْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُۥٓ أَلْقَىٰهَآ إِلَىٰ مَرْيَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِّنْهُ فَـَٔامِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ ثَلَٰثَةٌ ٱنتَهُوا۟ خَيْرًا لَّكُمْ إِنَّمَا ٱللَّهُ إِلَٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥٓ أَن يَكُونَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ لَّهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًا
O People of the Scripture, do not go to extremes in your system of judgment, and do not say about Allah except what is true. The Anointed, Jesus son of Mary, is only a messenger of Allah, and a word of His which He cast towards Mary, and a spirit from Him. So trust in Allah and His messengers, and do not say, “Three.” Refrain; that is better for you. Allah is only one god. Glory be to Him that He should have a child. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and Allah suffices as a trustee (to be relied on).
Research verse 4:171 →
لَّن يَسْتَنكِفَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ أَن يَكُونَ عَبْدًا لِّلَّهِ وَلَا ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ وَمَن يَسْتَنكِفْ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَيَسْتَكْبِرْ فَسَيَحْشُرُهُمْ إِلَيْهِ جَمِيعًا
The Messiah will never hold back from being a servant to Allah, nor will the angels who are brought near. And whoever holds back from His worship and grows arrogant, then He will surely gather them all together to Himself.
Research verse 4:172 →
فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدُهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَنكَفُوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فَيُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا
So as for those who have believed and done the sound/wholesome deeds, He will pay them their rewards in full and will increase them from His bounty; and as for those who held themselves above and acted arrogantly, He will punish them with a painful punishment, and they will not find for themselves, apart from Allah, any ally nor any helper.
Research verse 4:173 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَكُم بُرْهَٰنٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ نُورًا مُّبِينًا
O people, there has indeed come to you a proof from your Lord, and We have sent down to you an evident light.
Research verse 4:174 →
فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱعْتَصَمُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَسَيُدْخِلُهُمْ فِى رَحْمَةٍ مِّنْهُ وَفَضْلٍ وَيَهْدِيهِمْ إِلَيْهِ صِرَٰطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا
So as for those who have trusted in Allah and held fast to Him, He will soon cause them to enter into mercy from Himself and bounty, and He will guide them to Himself on a straight path.
Research verse 4:175 →
يَسْتَفْتُونَكَ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِى ٱلْكَلَٰلَةِ إِنِ ٱمْرُؤٌا۟ هَلَكَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ وَلَهُۥٓ أُخْتٌ فَلَهَا نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ وَهُوَ يَرِثُهَآ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهَا وَلَدٌ فَإِن كَانَتَا ٱثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُمَا ٱلثُّلُثَانِ مِمَّا تَرَكَ وَإِن كَانُوٓا۟ إِخْوَةً رِّجَالًا وَنِسَآءً فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ أَن تَضِلُّوا۟ وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۢ
They seek a decisive opinion from you. Say, “Allah gives you a decisive opinion concerning al‑kalālah: if a man perishes, having no child, and he has a sister, then for her is half of what he left; and he inherits from her if she has no child. But if they are two (female) ones, then for them are two‑thirds of what he left; and if they are siblings, men and women, then for the male is the like of the share of two females. Allah makes [it] clear to you, lest you go astray; and Allah is, of everything, All‑Knowing.”
Research verse 4:176 →
