حمٓ
Hā, Mīm.
Research verse 46:1 →
تَنزِيلُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ
A sending-down of the Book is from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.
Research verse 46:2 →
مَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَأَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ عَمَّآ أُنذِرُوا۟ مُعْرِضُونَ
We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them except with the truth and for a specified term; yet those who cover [it] are, away from what they are warned of, turning aside.
Research verse 46:3 →
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَرُونِى مَاذَا خَلَقُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ لَهُمْ شِرْكٌ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ ٱئْتُونِى بِكِتَٰبٍ مِّن قَبْلِ هَٰذَآ أَوْ أَثَٰرَةٍ مِّنْ عِلْمٍ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ
Say, “Have you considered what you call upon apart from Allah? Show me what they have created from the earth, or do they have a share in the heavens? Bring me a written book from before this, or some transmitted trace of knowledge, if you are truthful.”
Research verse 46:4 →
وَمَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّن يَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَن لَّا يَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُۥٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَهُمْ عَن دُعَآئِهِمْ غَٰفِلُونَ
And who is more astray than one who calls, apart from God, upon one who will not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection, while they are heedless of their calling to them?
Research verse 46:5 →
وَإِذَا حُشِرَ ٱلنَّاسُ كَانُوا۟ لَهُمْ أَعْدَآءً وَكَانُوا۟ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ كَٰفِرِينَ
And when the people are gathered, they will be enemies to them, and they will be deniers of having served them.
Research verse 46:6 →
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٍ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ هَٰذَا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ
And when Our signs are recited to them as clear [ones], those who have covered [it] say, concerning the truth when it comes to them, “This is an evident sorcery.”
Research verse 46:7 →
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ قُلْ إِنِ ٱفْتَرَيْتُهُۥ فَلَا تَمْلِكُونَ لِى مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِ كَفَىٰ بِهِۦ شَهِيدًۢا بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Or do they say, “He has fabricated it”? Say, “If I have fabricated it, then you do not control for me, against Allah, anything at all. He is most knowing of what you pour out concerning it. Sufficient is He as a witness between me and you, and He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”
Research verse 46:8 →
قُلْ مَا كُنتُ بِدْعًا مِّنَ ٱلرُّسُلِ وَمَآ أَدْرِى مَا يُفْعَلُ بِى وَلَا بِكُمْ إِنْ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
Say, “I have not been something unprecedented among the messengers, and I do not know what will be done with me nor with you. I follow nothing except what is inspired to me, and I am nothing but a clear warner.”
Research verse 46:9 →
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِن كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَفَرْتُم بِهِۦ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٌ مِّنۢ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ عَلَىٰ مِثْلِهِۦ فَـَٔامَنَ وَٱسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
Say, “Have you considered: if it is from Allah, then you have denied it, while a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to something like it and so believed, but you acted arrogantly—indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.”
Research verse 46:10 →
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَوْ كَانَ خَيْرًا مَّا سَبَقُونَآ إِلَيْهِ وَإِذْ لَمْ يَهْتَدُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَسَيَقُولُونَ هَٰذَآ إِفْكٌ قَدِيمٌ
And those who have denied said to those who have believed, “If it had been good, they would not have preceded us to it.” And since they have not been guided by it, they will surely say, “This is an ancient fabrication.”
Research verse 46:11 →
وَمِن قَبْلِهِۦ كِتَٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِمَامًا وَرَحْمَةً وَهَٰذَا كِتَٰبٌ مُّصَدِّقٌ لِّسَانًا عَرَبِيًّا لِّيُنذِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُحْسِنِينَ
And before it was the Book of Moses, as a leader and a mercy; and this is a Book, confirming, in an Arabic tongue, so that it may warn those who have done wrong, and as good news for the doers of good.
Research verse 46:12 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا ٱللَّهُ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَقَٰمُوا۟ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
Indeed, those who said, “Our Lord is Allah,” then kept straight — no fear will be upon them, nor will they grieve.
Research verse 46:13 →
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
Those are the companions of the Garden, remaining therein, as a recompense for what they used to do.
Research verse 46:14 →
وَوَصَّيْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ إِحْسَٰنًا حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُۥ كُرْهًا وَوَضَعَتْهُ كُرْهًا وَحَمْلُهُۥ وَفِصَٰلُهُۥ ثَلَٰثُونَ شَهْرًا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُۥ وَبَلَغَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً قَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِىٓ أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَىَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَٰلِدَىَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَٰلِحًا تَرْضَىٰهُ وَأَصْلِحْ لِى فِى ذُرِّيَّتِىٓ إِنِّى تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَإِنِّى مِنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
And We instructed the human being regarding his parents, [to show] excellence. His mother carried him in hardship and delivered him in hardship, and his carrying and his separation are thirty months, until when he reaches his full strength and reaches forty years, he says, “My Lord, dispose me so that I may be grateful for Your blessing which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I may do sound deeds which You approve, and set things right for me within my offspring. Indeed, I have turned back to You, and indeed, I am of those who submit.”
Research verse 46:15 →
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ نَتَقَبَّلُ عَنْهُمْ أَحْسَنَ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَنَتَجَاوَزُ عَن سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ فِىٓ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْجَنَّةِ وَعْدَ ٱلصِّدْقِ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ
Those are the ones from whom We accept the best of what they have done and pass over their bad deeds; [they are] among the companions of the Garden — the true promise which they had been promised.
Research verse 46:16 →
وَٱلَّذِى قَالَ لِوَٰلِدَيْهِ أُفٍّ لَّكُمَآ أَتَعِدَانِنِىٓ أَنْ أُخْرَجَ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ ٱلْقُرُونُ مِن قَبْلِى وَهُمَا يَسْتَغِيثَانِ ٱللَّهَ وَيْلَكَ ءَامِنْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَيَقُولُ مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
And the one who said to his two parents, “Off to you both! Do you promise me that I will be brought out, when the generations before me have already passed away?” while the two of them are calling upon Allah for help, “Woe to you! Believe! Indeed, the promise of Allah is true.” But he says, “This is nothing but writings of the former people.”
Research verse 46:17 →
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَوْلُ فِىٓ أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ خَٰسِرِينَ
Those are the ones upon whom the statement has become binding, among communities that have already passed away before them of the jinn and humankind; indeed, they used to be losers.
Research verse 46:18 →
وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَٰتٌ مِّمَّا عَمِلُوا۟ وَلِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
And for each there are ranks according to what they did, so that He may fully pay them their deeds, and they are not wronged.
Research verse 46:19 →
وَيَوْمَ يُعْرَضُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ أَذْهَبْتُمْ طَيِّبَٰتِكُمْ فِى حَيَاتِكُمُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِهَا فَٱلْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ عَذَابَ ٱلْهُونِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَفْسُقُونَ
And [beware of] the Day when those who covered [the truth] are presented over the Fire: “You have made away with your good things in your worldly life and enjoyed yourselves with them, so today you are repaid with the punishment of humiliation because you used to act arrogantly in the land without right, and because you used to deviate [from bounds].”
Research verse 46:20 →
وَٱذْكُرْ أَخَا عَادٍ إِذْ أَنذَرَ قَوْمَهُۥ بِٱلْأَحْقَافِ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ ٱلنُّذُرُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦٓ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
And recall the brother of ʿĀd, when he warned his people at al‑Aḥqāf, while the warners had already passed away before him and after him: “Do not serve anyone except Allah. Indeed, I fear for you the correction of a tremendous Day.”
Research verse 46:21 →
قَالُوٓا۟ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَأْفِكَنَا عَنْ ءَالِهَتِنَا فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَآ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
They said, “Have you come to turn us away from our gods? Then bring us what you promise us, if you are among the truthful.”
Research verse 46:22 →
قَالَ إِنَّمَا ٱلْعِلْمُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَأُبَلِّغُكُم مَّآ أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِۦ وَلَٰكِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰكُمْ قَوْمًا تَجْهَلُونَ
He said, “The knowledge is only with Allah, and I convey to you what I have been sent with; but I, for my part, see you as a people who are ignorant.”
Research verse 46:23 →
فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ عَارِضًا مُّسْتَقْبِلَ أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ قَالُوا۟ هَٰذَا عَارِضٌ مُّمْطِرُنَا بَلْ هُوَ مَا ٱسْتَعْجَلْتُم بِهِۦ رِيحٌ فِيهَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
Then when they saw it as a looming [mass] facing their valleys, they said, “This is a looming [cloud] that will make rain fall upon us.” No; rather, it is what you were hastening for: a wind within it is a painful punishment.
Research verse 46:24 →
تُدَمِّرُ كُلَّ شَىْءٍۭ بِأَمْرِ رَبِّهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ لَا يُرَىٰٓ إِلَّا مَسَٰكِنُهُمْ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
It devastates every thing by the command of its Lord, so they came to be such that nothing is seen except their dwellings. Thus do We recompense the criminal people.
Research verse 46:25 →
وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّٰهُمْ فِيمَآ إِن مَّكَّنَّٰكُمْ فِيهِ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ سَمْعًا وَأَبْصَٰرًا وَأَفْـِٔدَةً فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَلَآ أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ وَلَآ أَفْـِٔدَتُهُم مِّن شَىْءٍ إِذْ كَانُوا۟ يَجْحَدُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
And We had indeed established them in that wherein We have not established you, and We made for them hearing, and sights, and hearts; but their hearing, nor their sights, nor their hearts did not enrich them in anything when they used to reject the signs of Allah, and there surrounded them that which they used to mock.
Research verse 46:26 →
وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا مَا حَوْلَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ وَصَرَّفْنَا ٱلْـَٔايَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
And We have indeed destroyed the towns that are around you, and We have varied the signs so that they might turn back.
Research verse 46:27 →
فَلَوْلَا نَصَرَهُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ قُرْبَانًا ءَالِهَةًۢ بَلْ ضَلُّوا۟ عَنْهُمْ وَذَٰلِكَ إِفْكُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ
So why, then, did those whom they had taken, apart from God, as nearness‑offerings—gods—not help them? Rather, they were lost from them. And that is their perversion, and what they used to fabricate.
Research verse 46:28 →
وَإِذْ صَرَفْنَآ إِلَيْكَ نَفَرًا مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ يَسْتَمِعُونَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ فَلَمَّا حَضَرُوهُ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنصِتُوا۟ فَلَمَّا قُضِىَ وَلَّوْا۟ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِم مُّنذِرِينَ
And when We turned a group of the unseen beings toward you, listening attentively to the Recitation; then, when they were present at it, they said, “Be silent and listen.” Then, when it was concluded, they turned back to their people as warners.
Research verse 46:29 →
قَالُوا۟ يَٰقَوْمَنَآ إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا كِتَٰبًا أُنزِلَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مُوسَىٰ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلْحَقِّ وَإِلَىٰ طَرِيقٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
They said, “O our people, we have indeed heard a Book sent down after Moses, confirming what is before it, guiding to the truth and to a straight path.”
Research verse 46:30 →
يَٰقَوْمَنَآ أَجِيبُوا۟ دَاعِىَ ٱللَّهِ وَءَامِنُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُجِرْكُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
O our people, respond to the Caller of Allah and trust in Him; He will cover for you some of your trailing‑off offenses and grant you refuge from a painful punishment.
Research verse 46:31 →
وَمَن لَّا يُجِبْ دَاعِىَ ٱللَّهِ فَلَيْسَ بِمُعْجِزٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَيْسَ لَهُۥ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءُ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
And whoever does not respond to the caller of Allah is not one to escape [Him] in the earth, and he has no allies apart from Him; those are in clear misguidance.
Research verse 46:32 →
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَلَمْ يَعْىَ بِخَلْقِهِنَّ بِقَٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحْـِۧىَ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Have they then not seen that Allah—the One who created the heavens and the earth and did not grow weary with their creation—is surely able to give life to the dead? Yes indeed; He is powerful over every thing.
Research verse 46:33 →
وَيَوْمَ يُعْرَضُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ أَلَيْسَ هَٰذَا بِٱلْحَقِّ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّنَا قَالَ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ
And [remember] the Day when those who covered [the truth] are presented over the Fire, [and it is said], “Is this not the reality?” They say, “Yes indeed, by our Lord.” He says, “Then taste the correction for what you used to cover [up].”
Research verse 46:34 →
فَٱصْبِرْ كَمَا صَبَرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْعَزْمِ مِنَ ٱلرُّسُلِ وَلَا تَسْتَعْجِل لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ مَا يُوعَدُونَ لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا سَاعَةً مِّن نَّهَارٍۭ بَلَٰغٌ فَهَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلْقَوْمُ ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ
So endure, just as those endowed with firm resolve among the messengers endured; and do not seek to hasten [the outcome] for them. On the Day they see what they are promised, it will be as though they had not remained except for an hour of the daytime. [This is] a conveyed message. So is anyone made to perish except the defiantly deviant people?
Research verse 46:35 →
