ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَضَلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
Those who have covered over [the truth] and blocked [others] from the path of Allah – He has made their deeds go astray.
Research verse 47:1 →
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَءَامَنُوا۟ بِمَا نُزِّلَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ كَفَّرَ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَأَصْلَحَ بَالَهُمْ
And those who have trusted and done the sound deeds, and have trusted in what has been sent down upon Muhammad – and it is the truth from their Lord – He has covered over from them their bad deeds and set right their state.
Research verse 47:2 →
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلْبَٰطِلَ وَأَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلْحَقَّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ كَذَٰلِكَ يَضْرِبُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ أَمْثَٰلَهُمْ
That is because those who have covered [the truth] have followed the nullified, while those who have attained faith have followed the truth from their Lord. Thus does Allah set forth for the people their likenesses.
Research verse 47:3 →
فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَضَرْبَ ٱلرِّقَابِ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَثْخَنتُمُوهُمْ فَشُدُّوا۟ ٱلْوَثَاقَ فَإِمَّا مَنًّۢا بَعْدُ وَإِمَّا فِدَآءً حَتَّىٰ تَضَعَ ٱلْحَرْبُ أَوْزَارَهَا ذَٰلِكَ وَلَوْ يَشَآءُ ٱللَّهُ لَٱنتَصَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَلَٰكِن لِّيَبْلُوَا۟ بَعْضَكُم بِبَعْضٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَلَن يُضِلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
So when you encounter those who have denied [the truth], then [it is] striking of the necks, until when you have made them thoroughly weakened, then tighten the bond. Thereafter [it is] either a granting of release, or a ransom, until the war lays down its burdens. That is [the matter]. And if Allah willed, He would certainly take vengeance from them; but [it is] so that He may test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the path of Allah – He will never cause their deeds to go astray.
Research verse 47:4 →
سَيَهْدِيهِمْ وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَهُمْ
He will guide them and set right their state.
Research verse 47:5 →
وَيُدْخِلُهُمُ ٱلْجَنَّةَ عَرَّفَهَا لَهُمْ
And He will admit them into the Garden; He has made it known to them.
Research verse 47:6 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تَنصُرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ يَنصُرْكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ
O you who have believed, if you help Allah, He will help you and make your footsteps firm.
Research verse 47:7 →
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَتَعْسًا لَّهُمْ وَأَضَلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
And those who have denied – so ruin is for them, and He made their deeds go astray.
Research verse 47:8 →
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَرِهُوا۟ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
That is because they loathed what Allah sent down, so He nullified their deeds.
Research verse 47:9 →
أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ دَمَّرَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ أَمْثَٰلُهَا
Have they then not journeyed in the land so that they look and see how the outcome was for those before them? Allah utterly destroyed [it] upon them, and for the deniers are things like it.
Research verse 47:10 →
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَوْلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَأَنَّ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ لَا مَوْلَىٰ لَهُمْ
That is because Allah is the guardian-ally of those who have believed, while the deniers have no guardian-ally for them.
Research verse 47:11 →
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُدْخِلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَتَمَتَّعُونَ وَيَأْكُلُونَ كَمَا تَأْكُلُ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمُ وَٱلنَّارُ مَثْوًى لَّهُمْ
Indeed, Allah will cause those who have believed and done the sound/wholesome deeds to enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, while those who have denied [the truth] enjoy themselves and eat as the grazing animals eat; and the Fire is a place of staying for them.
Research verse 47:12 →
وَكَأَيِّن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ هِىَ أَشَدُّ قُوَّةً مِّن قَرْيَتِكَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَخْرَجَتْكَ أَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ فَلَا نَاصِرَ لَهُمْ
And how many a town there is that is stronger in power than your town which drove you out; We destroyed them, so they have no helper.
Research verse 47:13 →
أَفَمَن كَانَ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ كَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُۥ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُم
So is one who has been upon a clear proof from his Lord like one for whom the evil of his deed has been made attractive, and they have followed their own desires?
Research verse 47:14 →
مَّثَلُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ٱلَّتِى وُعِدَ ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ فِيهَآ أَنْهَٰرٌ مِّن مَّآءٍ غَيْرِ ءَاسِنٍ وَأَنْهَٰرٌ مِّن لَّبَنٍ لَّمْ يَتَغَيَّرْ طَعْمُهُۥ وَأَنْهَٰرٌ مِّنْ خَمْرٍ لَّذَّةٍ لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ وَأَنْهَٰرٌ مِّنْ عَسَلٍ مُّصَفًّى وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ كَمَنْ هُوَ خَٰلِدٌ فِى ٱلنَّارِ وَسُقُوا۟ مَآءً حَمِيمًا فَقَطَّعَ أَمْعَآءَهُمْ
The likeness of the garden which is promised to those who are mindful is: in it are rivers from water not stagnant, and rivers from milk whose taste has not changed, and rivers from wine, a delight for the drinkers, and rivers from honey, purified. And for them in it is from every kind of fruit, and a covering (of sins) from their Lord. Is such a one like him who is remaining in the Fire and are made to drink water, boiling hot, so it cuts into their intestines?
Research verse 47:15 →
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا خَرَجُوا۟ مِنْ عِندِكَ قَالُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ مَاذَا قَالَ ءَانِفًا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ
And among them is one who listens attentively to you, until when they have gone out from being with you, they say to those who have been given the knowledge, “What did he just say?” Those are the ones whose hearts Allah has imprinted, and they have followed their own desires.
Research verse 47:16 →
وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱهْتَدَوْا۟ زَادَهُمْ هُدًى وَءَاتَىٰهُمْ تَقْوَىٰهُمْ
And those who have sought guidance – He has increased them in guidance and has given them their consciousness of protection.
Research verse 47:17 →
فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ أَن تَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً فَقَدْ جَآءَ أَشْرَاطُهَا فَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمْ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ ذِكْرَىٰهُمْ
So are they waiting for anything except the Hour, that it should come upon them suddenly? Yet its cut‑off signs have already come. So how can there be for them, when it comes to them, their reminder?
Research verse 47:18 →
فَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مُتَقَلَّبَكُمْ وَمَثْوَىٰكُمْ
So know that there is no god except Allah, and seek covering/forgiveness for your tailing‑off, and for the believing men and the believing women; and Allah knows your shifting about and your place of staying.
Research verse 47:19 →
وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَتْ سُورَةٌ فَإِذَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ مُّحْكَمَةٌ وَذُكِرَ فِيهَا ٱلْقِتَالُ رَأَيْتَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ نَظَرَ ٱلْمَغْشِىِّ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْمَوْتِ فَأَوْلَىٰ لَهُمْ
And those who have believed say, “If only a sūrah were sent down!” Then when a sūrah is sent down, one made firm in judgment, and fighting is mentioned in it, you see those in whose hearts is a sickness looking toward you with the look of one fainting over (him) from death. So woe to them.
Research verse 47:20 →
طَاعَةٌ وَقَوْلٌ مَّعْرُوفٌ فَإِذَا عَزَمَ ٱلْأَمْرُ فَلَوْ صَدَقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ
Obedience and a recognized word. Then when the matter is resolved, if they had been true to God, it would have been better for them.
Research verse 47:21 →
فَهَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ إِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ أَن تُفْسِدُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَتُقَطِّعُوٓا۟ أَرْحَامَكُمْ
So is it then that, if you turn away, you would work corruption in the land and sever the womb‑bonds (of kinship/mercy)?
Research verse 47:22 →
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ فَأَصَمَّهُمْ وَأَعْمَىٰٓ أَبْصَٰرَهُمْ
Those are the ones whom Allah has repudiated, so He made them deaf and made their perceptions blind.
Research verse 47:23 →
أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ أَمْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَآ
So do they not ponder the Qur’an, or are there locks upon hearts of theirs?
Research verse 47:24 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱرْتَدُّوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَٰرِهِم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَى ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ سَوَّلَ لَهُمْ وَأَمْلَىٰ لَهُمْ
Indeed, those who turned back on their backs after guidance had become clear to them — the satan made it seem appealing to them and granted them (extended) time.
Research verse 47:25 →
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ كَرِهُوا۟ مَا نَزَّلَ ٱللَّهُ سَنُطِيعُكُمْ فِى بَعْضِ ٱلْأَمْرِ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِسْرَارَهُمْ
That is because they said to those who disliked what Allah sent down, “We will obey you in part of the matter,” while Allah knows their secret dealings.
Research verse 47:26 →
فَكَيْفَ إِذَا تَوَفَّتْهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَٰرَهُمْ
So how will it be when the angels fully take them, striking their faces and their backs?
Research verse 47:27 →
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَآ أَسْخَطَ ٱللَّهَ وَكَرِهُوا۟ رِضْوَٰنَهُۥ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
That is because they followed what enraged Allah and they disliked His approval, so He nullified their deeds.
Research verse 47:28 →
أَمْ حَسِبَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ أَن لَّن يُخْرِجَ ٱللَّهُ أَضْغَٰنَهُمْ
Or have those in whose hearts is a disease supposed that Allah will not bring out their rancours?
Research verse 47:29 →
وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَأَرَيْنَٰكَهُمْ فَلَعَرَفْتَهُم بِسِيمَٰهُمْ وَلَتَعْرِفَنَّهُمْ فِى لَحْنِ ٱلْقَوْلِ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ
And if We willed, We would surely make them visible to you, so you would certainly recognize them by their mark; and you will surely recognize them in the inflection of speech. And Allah knows your deeds.
Research verse 47:30 →
وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَعْلَمَ ٱلْمُجَٰهِدِينَ مِنكُمْ وَٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ وَنَبْلُوَا۟ أَخْبَارَكُمْ
And We will surely test you until We make known those of you who strive and those who endure, and We will test your reports.
Research verse 47:31 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَشَآقُّوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ لَن يَضُرُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ شَيْـًٔا وَسَيُحْبِطُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
Indeed, those who covered [the truth] and blocked [others] from the path of Allah and split off in opposition to the Messenger after guidance had become clear to them will never harm Allah in any way, and He will soon make their deeds fail.
Research verse 47:32 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَلَا تُبْطِلُوٓا۟ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ
O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and do not nullify your deeds.
Research verse 47:33 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ مَاتُوا۟ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ فَلَن يَغْفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ
Indeed, those who covered [the truth] and blocked [others] from the path of Allah, then died while they were ones who cover [the truth]—Allah will never cover [over] for them.
Research verse 47:34 →
فَلَا تَهِنُوا۟ وَتَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلسَّلْمِ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَوْنَ وَٱللَّهُ مَعَكُمْ وَلَن يَتِرَكُمْ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ
So do not lose strength and (thereby) call toward the settlement, while you are the higher ones; and Allah is with you, and He will never diminish your deeds.
Research verse 47:35 →
إِنَّمَا ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَإِن تُؤْمِنُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ يُؤْتِكُمْ أُجُورَكُمْ وَلَا يَسْـَٔلْكُمْ أَمْوَٰلَكُمْ
The lowly life is nothing but play and distraction; and if you trust and are wary, He will grant you your rewards and will not ask you for your wealth.
Research verse 47:36 →
إِن يَسْـَٔلْكُمُوهَا فَيُحْفِكُمْ تَبْخَلُوا۟ وَيُخْرِجْ أَضْغَٰنَكُمْ
If He were to ask you for it and press you hard, you would be stingy, and He would bring out your rancors.
Research verse 47:37 →
هَٰٓأَنتُمْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ تُدْعَوْنَ لِتُنفِقُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَمِنكُم مَّن يَبْخَلُ وَمَن يَبْخَلْ فَإِنَّمَا يَبْخَلُ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ وَٱللَّهُ ٱلْغَنِىُّ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلْفُقَرَآءُ وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوْا۟ يَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُوٓا۟ أَمْثَٰلَكُم
Here you are – these very ones – being called so that you may spend in the path of Allah; yet among you is one who withholds. And whoever withholds is only withholding from his own self. And Allah is the One free of need, while you are the ones in need. And if you turn away, He will replace you with a people other than you; then they will not be similar to you.
Research verse 47:38 →
