حمٓ
Hā Mīm.
Research verse 40:1 →
تَنزِيلُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ
A sending‑down of the Book is from Allah, the Mighty, the All‑Knowing.
Research verse 40:2 →
غَافِرِ ٱلذَّنۢبِ وَقَابِلِ ٱلتَّوْبِ شَدِيدِ ٱلْعِقَابِ ذِى ٱلطَّوْلِ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ إِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
Forgiver of the tail‑offense, and Receiver of the return, Intensely severe in the consequence, Possessor of the extended (favor). There is no god except Him; to Him is the final outcome.
Research verse 40:3 →
مَا يُجَٰدِلُ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَلَا يَغْرُرْكَ تَقَلُّبُهُمْ فِى ٱلْبِلَٰدِ
None dispute concerning the signs of Allah except those who have denied; so let not their going to and fro throughout the lands delude you.
Research verse 40:4 →
كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ وَهَمَّتْ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍۭ بِرَسُولِهِمْ لِيَأْخُذُوهُ وَجَٰدَلُوا۟ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا۟ بِهِ ٱلْحَقَّ فَأَخَذْتُهُمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ
The people of Noah before them cried lies, and the factions after them; and every community intended against its messenger to seize him, and they argued with what is false so that by it they might make the truth fail, so I seized them—then how was My following‑up (in retribution)?
Research verse 40:5 →
وَكَذَٰلِكَ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ
And thus the word of your Lord was realized against those who covered [the truth]: that they are companions of the Fire.
Research verse 40:6 →
ٱلَّذِينَ يَحْمِلُونَ ٱلْعَرْشَ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ رَّحْمَةً وَعِلْمًا فَٱغْفِرْ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Those who carry the Throne and whoever is around it exalt with the praise of their Lord, and they believe in Him, and they seek covering-forgiveness for those who have believed: “Our Lord, You have encompassed everything in mercy and knowledge, so cover-forgive those who have turned back and followed Your path, and guard them from the punishment of the Blaze.”

رَبَّنَا وَأَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّٰتِ عَدْنٍ ٱلَّتِى وَعَدتَّهُمْ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنْ ءَابَآئِهِمْ وَأَزْوَٰجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّٰتِهِمْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
Our Lord, and admit them into gardens of enduring settlement which You have promised them, and whoever has been sound‑acting from among their fathers, their spouses, and their offspring. Indeed, You — You are the Mighty, the Wise.
Research verse 40:8 →
وَقِهِمُ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ وَمَن تَقِ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمْتَهُۥ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
And shield them from the evils; and whomever You shield from the evils on that Day, then You have indeed shown him mercy, and that is the tremendous success.
Research verse 40:9 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُنَادَوْنَ لَمَقْتُ ٱللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ مِن مَّقْتِكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ إِذْ تُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلْإِيمَٰنِ فَتَكْفُرُونَ
Indeed, those who concealed (the truth) are called out: “The loathing of Allah is greater than your loathing of yourselves, when you were being called to security-through-faith, but you kept on concealing (it).”
Research verse 40:10 →
قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ أَمَتَّنَا ٱثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَحْيَيْتَنَا ٱثْنَتَيْنِ فَٱعْتَرَفْنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا فَهَلْ إِلَىٰ خُرُوجٍ مِّن سَبِيلٍ
They will say, “Our Lord, You have made us die twice and given us life twice, so we have acknowledged our tails (i.e., our trailing consequences). So is there any way to an emergence (out)?”
Research verse 40:11 →
ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُۥٓ إِذَا دُعِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَحْدَهُۥ كَفَرْتُمْ وَإِن يُشْرَكْ بِهِۦ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ فَٱلْحُكْمُ لِلَّهِ ٱلْعَلِىِّ ٱلْكَبِيرِ
That is because, when Allah was called upon alone, you covered over [the truth], but if [something] is joined with Him, you affirm [it]. So the wise judgment belongs to Allah, the Most High, the Great.
Research verse 40:12 →
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُرِيكُمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزْقًا وَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ إِلَّا مَن يُنِيبُ
He is the One who shows you His signs and sends down for you provision from the sky; yet none takes heed except whoever turns back.

فَٱدْعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
So call upon Allah, devoting the judgment to Him alone, even if the deniers dislike it.
Research verse 40:14 →
رَفِيعُ ٱلدَّرَجَٰتِ ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ يُلْقِى ٱلرُّوحَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ لِيُنذِرَ يَوْمَ ٱلتَّلَاقِ
Exalted in ranks, Possessor of the Throne, He casts the spirit from His command upon whom He wills of His servants, so that he may warn of the Day of Meeting.
Research verse 40:15 →
يَوْمَ هُم بَٰرِزُونَ لَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِنْهُمْ شَىْءٌ لِّمَنِ ٱلْمُلْكُ ٱلْيَوْمَ لِلَّهِ ٱلْوَٰحِدِ ٱلْقَهَّارِ
The Day they are exposed—nothing of them will be hidden from Allah. “To whom does the dominion belong today?” To Allah, the One, the Subduer.
Research verse 40:16 →
ٱلْيَوْمَ تُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ لَا ظُلْمَ ٱلْيَوْمَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ
Today every soul is repaid for what it has earned; no wrongdoing today. Indeed, Allah is swift in the reckoning.
Research verse 40:17 →
وَأَنذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْـَٔازِفَةِ إِذِ ٱلْقُلُوبُ لَدَى ٱلْحَنَاجِرِ كَٰظِمِينَ مَا لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ مِنْ حَمِيمٍ وَلَا شَفِيعٍ يُطَاعُ
And warn them of the Day of the Imminent-One, when the hearts are at the throats, suppressing (within); for the dark‑doers will have no close companion and no intercessor who is heeded.
Research verse 40:18 →
يَعْلَمُ خَآئِنَةَ ٱلْأَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِى ٱلصُّدُورُ
He knows the treachery of the eyes and what the chests conceal.
Research verse 40:19 →
وَٱللَّهُ يَقْضِى بِٱلْحَقِّ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَقْضُونَ بِشَىْءٍ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِيرُ
And Allah decrees with the truth, while those whom they call upon apart from Him do not decree anything at all. Indeed, Allah—He is the Hearing, the Seeing.

أَوَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُوا۟ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً وَءَاثَارًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَاقٍ
Have they not traveled in the land so that they look at how the outcome was for those who had been before them? They had been stronger than them in power and in traces in the land, yet Allah seized them for their sins, and there was for them, against Allah, no protector.
Research verse 40:21 →
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانَت تَّأْتِيهِمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَكَفَرُوا۟ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ إِنَّهُۥ قَوِىٌّ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
That is because their messengers used to come to them with the clear evidences, but they covered over [the truth], so Allah seized them; indeed, He is strong, severe in retribution.
Research verse 40:22 →
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَسُلْطَٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
And indeed We sent Moses with Our signs and an evident authority.
Research verse 40:23 →
إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَٰمَٰنَ وَقَٰرُونَ فَقَالُوا۟ سَٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ
To Pharaoh, and Haman, and Qarun; then they said, “(He is) a magician, an utter liar.”
Research verse 40:24 →
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُوا۟ ٱقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَبْنَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ وَٱسْتَحْيُوا۟ نِسَآءَهُمْ وَمَا كَيْدُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَٰلٍ
Then when he came to them with the truth from Us, they said, “Kill the sons of those who have believed with him, and let their women live.” But the plotting of the concealers (of truth) is nothing but in loss.
Research verse 40:25 →
وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ ذَرُونِىٓ أَقْتُلْ مُوسَىٰ وَلْيَدْعُ رَبَّهُۥٓ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمْ أَوْ أَن يُظْهِرَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْفَسَادَ
And Pharaoh said, “Leave me [alone] to kill Moses, and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will alter your system of judgment, or that he will bring forth corruption in the land.”
Research verse 40:26 →
وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُم مِّن كُلِّ مُتَكَبِّرٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ
And Moses said, “Indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every self-magnifying one who does not trust in the Day of Reckoning.”
Research verse 40:27 →
وَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مُّؤْمِنٌ مِّنْ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَكْتُمُ إِيمَٰنَهُۥٓ أَتَقْتُلُونَ رَجُلًا أَن يَقُولَ رَبِّىَ ٱللَّهُ وَقَدْ جَآءَكُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ وَإِن يَكُ كَٰذِبًا فَعَلَيْهِ كَذِبُهُۥ وَإِن يَكُ صَادِقًا يُصِبْكُم بَعْضُ ٱلَّذِى يَعِدُكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَنْ هُوَ مُسْرِفٌ كَذَّابٌ
And a believing man from the people of Pharaoh, concealing his faith, said, “Will you kill a man because he says, ‘My Lord is Allah,’ while he has already come to you with the clear evidences from your Lord? And if he is a liar, then his lie is only against himself; but if he is truthful, some of what he promises you will strike you. Indeed, Allah does not guide one who is an extravagant overstepper, a compulsive liar.”
Research verse 40:28 →
يَٰقَوْمِ لَكُمُ ٱلْمُلْكُ ٱلْيَوْمَ ظَٰهِرِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَمَن يَنصُرُنَا مِنۢ بَأْسِ ٱللَّهِ إِن جَآءَنَا قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ مَآ أُرِيكُمْ إِلَّا مَآ أَرَىٰ وَمَآ أَهْدِيكُمْ إِلَّا سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ
O my people, today the dominion is yours, being uppermost in the land; but who will help us against the might of Allah if it comes upon us?” Pharaoh said, “I only make you see what I myself see, and I do not guide you except to the path of sound guidance.”
Research verse 40:29 →
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُم مِّثْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْأَحْزَابِ
And the one who had believed said, “O my people, indeed I fear for you something like the Day of the factions.”
Research verse 40:30 →
مِثْلَ دَأْبِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلْمًا لِّلْعِبَادِ
[A fate] like the ongoing way of the people of Noah, and ʿĀd, and Thamūd, and those after them; and Allah does not intend any wrongdoing for the servants.
Research verse 40:31 →
وَيَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلتَّنَادِ
And O my people, indeed I fear for you the Day of the Crying-out-to-one-another.
Research verse 40:32 →
يَوْمَ تُوَلُّونَ مُدْبِرِينَ مَا لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنْ عَاصِمٍ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٍ
The Day you turn away, retreating on your backs—there is for you, against Allah, no protector; and whomever Allah lets go astray, then there is for him no guide.
Research verse 40:33 →
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَكُمْ يُوسُفُ مِن قَبْلُ بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَمَا زِلْتُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّمَّا جَآءَكُم بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا هَلَكَ قُلْتُمْ لَن يَبْعَثَ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ رَسُولًا كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَنْ هُوَ مُسْرِفٌ مُّرْتَابٌ
And indeed Joseph came to you before with the clear evidences, yet you did not cease to be in doubt about what he brought to you, until when he perished you said, “Allah will never raise up, after him, any messenger.” Thus does Allah let go astray whoever is an excessive overstepper, one given to misgiving.
Research verse 40:34 →
ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمْ كَبُرَ مَقْتًا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعِندَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كَذَٰلِكَ يَطْبَعُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ قَلْبِ مُتَكَبِّرٍ جَبَّارٍ
Those who contend regarding the signs of Allah without any authority that has come to them — it has become greatly loathsome (as) a detested thing with Allah and with those who have believed. Thus does Allah stamp upon every heart of one who is arrogant, overbearing.
Research verse 40:35 →
وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ يَٰهَٰمَٰنُ ٱبْنِ لِى صَرْحًا لَّعَلِّىٓ أَبْلُغُ ٱلْأَسْبَٰبَ
And Pharaoh said, “O Haman, build for me a lofty structure, so that I might reach the means—
Research verse 40:36 →
أَسْبَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ فَأَطَّلِعَ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِ مُوسَىٰ وَإِنِّى لَأَظُنُّهُۥ كَٰذِبًا وَكَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرْعَوْنَ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَصُدَّ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَمَا كَيْدُ فِرْعَوْنَ إِلَّا فِى تَبَابٍ
the means of the heavens, so that I may look up to the God of Moses; and indeed, I surely think him to be a liar.” And thus was made fair to Pharaoh the evil of his deed, and he was turned away from the path; and the plotting of Pharaoh is nothing but in loss.
Research verse 40:37 →
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوْمِ ٱتَّبِعُونِ أَهْدِكُمْ سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ
And the one who had believed said, “O my people, follow me; I will guide you to the path of sound rightness.”
Research verse 40:38 →
يَٰقَوْمِ إِنَّمَا هَٰذِهِ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا مَتَٰعٌ وَإِنَّ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ هِىَ دَارُ ٱلْقَرَارِ
O my people, this lower life is but a provision, while the Later one – it is the abode of settlement.
Research verse 40:39 →
مَنْ عَمِلَ سَيِّئَةً فَلَا يُجْزَىٰٓ إِلَّا مِثْلَهَا وَمَنْ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحًا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ يُرْزَقُونَ فِيهَا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
Whoever does a bad deed is not recompensed except with its like; and whoever does a sound deed, whether male or female, while he is one who trusts (in God) — then those are the ones who enter the Garden; they are provided therein without reckoning.
Research verse 40:40 →
وَيَٰقَوْمِ مَا لِىٓ أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى ٱلنَّجَوٰةِ وَتَدْعُونَنِىٓ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ
And O my people, what is [with] me that I invite you to the escape, while you invite me to the Fire?
Research verse 40:41 →
تَدْعُونَنِى لِأَكْفُرَ بِٱللَّهِ وَأُشْرِكَ بِهِۦ مَا لَيْسَ لِى بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ وَأَنَا۠ أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْغَفَّٰرِ
You invite me to deny Allah and to join with Him that of which I have no knowledge, while I invite you to the Mighty, the Covering-Forgiver.
Research verse 40:42 →
لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّمَا تَدْعُونَنِىٓ إِلَيْهِ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَعْوَةٌ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَلَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ مَرَدَّنَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَنَّ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ هُمْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ
It is indeed certain that what you are calling me to has no (valid) claim in this world nor in the Hereafter, and that our return is to Allah, and that the extravagant exceeders are the companions of the Fire.
Research verse 40:43 →
فَسَتَذْكُرُونَ مَآ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ وَأُفَوِّضُ أَمْرِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَصِيرٌۢ بِٱلْعِبَادِ
So you will remember what I say to you, and I consign my affair to Allah; indeed, Allah is all-seeing of the servants.
Research verse 40:44 →
فَوَقَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِ مَا مَكَرُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِـَٔالِ فِرْعَوْنَ سُوٓءُ ٱلْعَذَابِ
So Allah shielded him from the evil outcomes of what they plotted, and the worst of the punishment encompassed the people of Pharaoh.
Research verse 40:45 →
ٱلنَّارُ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيْهَا غُدُوًّا وَعَشِيًّا وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْخِلُوٓا۟ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ أَشَدَّ ٱلْعَذَابِ
The Fire – they are presented to it, morning and evening; and on the Day the Hour stands forth: “Admit the people of Pharaoh to the most intense punishment.”
Research verse 40:46 →
وَإِذْ يَتَحَآجُّونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ فَيَقُولُ ٱلضُّعَفَٰٓؤُا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعًا فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّغْنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيبًا مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ
And when they dispute with one another in the Fire, then the weak will say to those who had acted arrogantly, “Indeed, we used to be followers for you, so are you ones who can spare from us a portion of the Fire?”
Research verse 40:47 →
قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُلٌّ فِيهَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدْ حَكَمَ بَيْنَ ٱلْعِبَادِ
Those who had been arrogant will say, “Indeed, all of us are in it; indeed, God has already judged between the servants.”
Research verse 40:48 →
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ لِخَزَنَةِ جَهَنَّمَ ٱدْعُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ يُخَفِّفْ عَنَّا يَوْمًا مِّنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ
And those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell, “Call upon your Lord to lighten for us, for one day, from the punishment.”
Research verse 40:49 →
قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ تَكُ تَأْتِيكُمْ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ قَالُوا۟ فَٱدْعُوا۟ وَمَا دُعَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَٰلٍ
They will say, “Did your messengers not used to come to you with the clear evidences?” They will say, “Yes indeed.” They will say, “Then call out (pray). But the calling of the deniers is nothing but in loss/straying.”
Research verse 40:50 →
إِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَيَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلْأَشْهَٰدُ
Indeed, We shall surely help Our messengers and those who have believed, in the lowly life, and on the Day when the witnesses stand up.
Research verse 40:51 →
يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ وَلَهُمُ ٱللَّعْنَةُ وَلَهُمْ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ
The Day when their excuse will not benefit the wrongdoers, and for them is the banishment, and for them is the evil abode.
Research verse 40:52 →
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَأَوْرَثْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
And indeed We gave Moses the guidance, and We made the Children of Israel inherit the Book.
Research verse 40:53 →
هُدًى وَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ
As guidance and a reminder for possessors of cores (i.e., sound inner minds).
Research verse 40:54 →
فَٱصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِبْكَٰرِ
So endure; indeed, the promise of Allah is a sure reality. And seek covering for your tail, and glorify with the praise of your Lord in the evening and at early dawn.
Research verse 40:55 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمْ إِن فِى صُدُورِهِمْ إِلَّا كِبْرٌ مَّا هُم بِبَٰلِغِيهِ فَٱسْتَعِذْ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِيرُ
Indeed, those who argue concerning the signs of Allah without any authority that has come to them—there is nothing in their chests except an arrogance which they are not reaching. So seek refuge with Allah; indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing.
Research verse 40:56 →
لَخَلْقُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ خَلْقِ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
The bringing-into-being of the heavens and the earth is greater than the bringing-into-being of the people, but most of the people do not know.
Research verse 40:57 →
وَمَا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ وَٱلْبَصِيرُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَلَا ٱلْمُسِىٓءُ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ
And the blind and the seeing are not equal, nor those who have attained faith and done sound deeds and the one who does evil. Little it is that you take heed.
Research verse 40:58 →
إِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَـَٔاتِيَةٌ لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهَا وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Indeed, the Hour is surely coming—there is no dispute about it—but most of the people do not trust (in it).
Research verse 40:59 →
وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ٱدْعُونِىٓ أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِى سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ
And your Lord has said, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you. Indeed, those who act arrogantly away from My servitude will enter Hell, utterly abased.”
Research verse 40:60 →
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ لِتَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ
Allah is the One who made for you the night so that you may become still in it, and the day as one that enables seeing. Indeed, Allah is surely Possessor of bounty over the people, but most of the people do not show gratitude.
Research verse 40:61 →
ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ
That is Allah, your Lord, the creator of every thing. There is no god except Him, so how are you turned away?
Research verse 40:62 →
كَذَٰلِكَ يُؤْفَكُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ
In this way are those turned away who used to reject the signs of Allah.
Research verse 40:63 →
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ قَرَارًا وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءً وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
Allah is the One who made the earth for you as a place of settlement, and the sky as a structure, and He shaped you and so made your shapes excellent, and He provided for you out of the good things. That is Allah, your Lord; so supremely blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds.
Research verse 40:64 →
هُوَ ٱلْحَىُّ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱدْعُوهُ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
He is the Living One; there is no god except Him. So call upon Him, purifying the judgment/commitment for Him. Praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
Research verse 40:65 →
قُلْ إِنِّى نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَمَّا جَآءَنِىَ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ مِن رَّبِّى وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُسْلِمَ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
Say, “Indeed I have been forbidden from serving those whom you call upon apart from Allah, once the clear evidences came to me from my Lord, and I have been instructed to yield myself to the Lord of all realms.”
Research verse 40:66 →
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ عَلَقَةٍ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُكُمْ طِفْلًا ثُمَّ لِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟ أَشُدَّكُمْ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُوا۟ شُيُوخًا وَمِنكُم مَّن يُتَوَفَّىٰ مِن قَبْلُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟ أَجَلًا مُّسَمًّى وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
He is the One who created you from dust, then from a drop, then from a clinging mass; then He brings you out as a child, then so that you may reach your full strength, then so that you may become elders. And among you is one who is taken fully (in death) before that, and so that you may reach a specified term, and so that you might use your reason.
Research verse 40:67 →
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ فَإِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ
He is the One who gives life and causes death; so when He has settled a matter, He only says to it, “Be,” and it comes to be.
Research verse 40:68 →
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ أَنَّىٰ يُصْرَفُونَ
Have you not considered those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah – how they are turned away?
Research verse 40:69 →
ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَبِمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا بِهِۦ رُسُلَنَا فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Those who declared the Book to be a lie, and what We sent our messengers with — so they will surely know.
Research verse 40:70 →
إِذِ ٱلْأَغْلَٰلُ فِىٓ أَعْنَٰقِهِمْ وَٱلسَّلَٰسِلُ يُسْحَبُونَ
When the shackles are on their necks, and the chains, they are dragged.
Research verse 40:71 →
فِى ٱلْحَمِيمِ ثُمَّ فِى ٱلنَّارِ يُسْجَرُونَ
In the scalding liquid, then in the fire they will be stoked as fuel.
Research verse 40:72 →
ثُمَّ قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تُشْرِكُونَ
Then it was said to them, “Where is what you used to make a partner (with God)?”
Research verse 40:73 →
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ قَالُوا۟ ضَلُّوا۟ عَنَّا بَل لَّمْ نَكُن نَّدْعُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ شَيْـًٔا كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
apart from Allah?” They will say, “They have gone astray from us; rather, we were not, before, calling on anything.” Thus does Allah cause the deniers to stray.
Research verse 40:74 →
ذَٰلِكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَمْرَحُونَ
That is because you used to rejoice on the earth without [regard for] the truth, and because you used to be wantonly exuberant.
Research verse 40:75 →
ٱدْخُلُوٓا۟ أَبْوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا فَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ
“Enter the gates of Hell, remaining therein; how vile a lodging for the self-exalting.”
Research verse 40:76 →
فَٱصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى نَعِدُهُمْ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُونَ
So endure; indeed, the appointment of God is a reality. Then whether We indeed show you some of what We are promising them, or We indeed take you fully, then to Us they are returned.
Research verse 40:77 →
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًا مِّن قَبْلِكَ مِنْهُم مَّن قَصَصْنَا عَلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُم مَّن لَّمْ نَقْصُصْ عَلَيْكَ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ قُضِىَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ
And indeed We sent messengers before you: among them are those whom We have narrated to you, and among them are those whom We have not narrated to you. And it has not been for any messenger to come with a sign except by Allah’s permission. Then when Allah’s command comes, it is decided in truth, and there, the nullifiers are the losers.
Research verse 40:78 →
ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمَ لِتَرْكَبُوا۟ مِنْهَا وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ
Allah is the One who has made the livestock for you, so that you ride some of them, and from some of them you eat.
Research verse 40:79 →
وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَٰفِعُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوا۟ عَلَيْهَا حَاجَةً فِى صُدُورِكُمْ وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَ
And for you in them are benefits, and so that you may reach upon them a need that is within your chests; and upon them and upon the ships you are carried.
Research verse 40:80 →
وَيُرِيكُمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ فَأَىَّ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ تُنكِرُونَ
And He shows you His signs; so which of the signs of Allah do you reject?
Research verse 40:81 →
أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَانُوٓا۟ أَكْثَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَأَشَدَّ قُوَّةً وَءَاثَارًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
So have they not traveled through the land, then looked at how the outcome was of those before them? They had been more numerous than them, and stronger in power and (in) traces in the land; yet what they used to earn did not enrich them (at all).
Research verse 40:82 →
فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَرِحُوا۟ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
Then when their messengers came to them with the clear evidences, they exulted in what knowledge they had with them, and there encompassed them that which they had been mocking.
Research verse 40:83 →
فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا۟ بَأْسَنَا قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَحْدَهُۥ وَكَفَرْنَا بِمَا كُنَّا بِهِۦ مُشْرِكِينَ
So when they saw Our might, they said, “We have come to trust in Allah alone, and we reject what we used to join with Him as partners.”
Research verse 40:84 →
فَلَمْ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمْ إِيمَٰنُهُمْ لَمَّا رَأَوْا۟ بَأْسَنَا سُنَّتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ فِى عِبَادِهِۦ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
So their trust/faith did not benefit them when they saw Our might; [that is] the pattern of Allah which has indeed passed on among His servants, and the deniers lost out there and then.
Research verse 40:85 →
