يسٓ
Yā Sīn.
Research verse 36:1 →
وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ
By the wise Recital.
Research verse 36:2 →
إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Indeed, you are surely among the ones sent.
Research verse 36:3 →
عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
upon a path, upright.
Research verse 36:4 →
تَنزِيلَ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
A sending-down from the Mighty, the Merciful.
Research verse 36:5 →
لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّآ أُنذِرَ ءَابَآؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غَٰفِلُونَ
so that you may warn a people whose forefathers had not been warned, and so they are heedless.
Research verse 36:6 →
لَقَدْ حَقَّ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَىٰٓ أَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Indeed, the word has truly become binding upon most of them, so they do not believe.
Research verse 36:7 →
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِىٓ أَعْنَٰقِهِمْ أَغْلَٰلًا فَهِىَ إِلَى ٱلْأَذْقَانِ فَهُم مُّقْمَحُونَ
Indeed, We have placed shackles upon their necks, so they are up to the chins, and thus they are held with heads forced up.
Research verse 36:8 →
وَجَعَلْنَا مِنۢ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّا وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا فَأَغْشَيْنَٰهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ
And We have placed, in front of them, a barrier, and behind them, a barrier; then We have overcast them, so they do not see.
Research verse 36:9 →
وَسَوَآءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَأَنذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنذِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
And it is all the same to them whether you warn them or you do not warn them — they will not believe.
Research verse 36:10 →
إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَخَشِىَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنَ بِٱلْغَيْبِ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَأَجْرٍ كَرِيمٍ
You only warn the one who follows the Reminder and is apprehensive of the All‑Merciful in the unseen; so give him good news of a covering‑over (of sins) and a generous reward.

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْىِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا۟ وَءَاثَٰرَهُمْ وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَٰهُ فِىٓ إِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ
Indeed, it is We — We who give life to the dead, and We write what they have sent ahead and their traces, and We have enumerated every thing in a clear leader.
Research verse 36:12 →
وَٱضْرِبْ لَهُم مَّثَلًا أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَآءَهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
And strike for them a likeness: the companions of the town, when the envoys came to it—
Research verse 36:13 →
إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمُ ٱثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ إِلَيْكُم مُّرْسَلُونَ
When We sent to them two, but they denied them, so We reinforced [them] with a third, and they said, “Indeed, we are ones sent to you.”
Research verse 36:14 →
قَالُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ مِن شَىْءٍ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا تَكْذِبُونَ
They said, “You are nothing but humans like us, and the All-Merciful has not sent down anything at all; you are nothing but lying.”
Research verse 36:15 →
قَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ إِنَّآ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ
They said, “Our Lord knows that we are indeed ones sent to you.”
Research verse 36:16 →
وَمَا عَلَيْنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
And nothing is upon us except the evident conveying.
Research verse 36:17 →
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهُوا۟ لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
They said, “Indeed, we have taken a bad omen from you. If you do not stop, we will certainly stone you, and a painful punishment will most surely touch you from us.”
Research verse 36:18 →
قَالُوا۟ طَٰٓئِرُكُم مَّعَكُمْ أَئِن ذُكِّرْتُم بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّسْرِفُونَ
They said, “Your augury is with you. Is it [only] that you have been reminded? No; rather, you are a people who exceed all bounds.”
Research verse 36:19 →
وَجَآءَ مِنْ أَقْصَا ٱلْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَىٰ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
And a man came from the farthest part of the city, hurrying; he said, “O my people, follow the envoys.”
Research verse 36:20 →
ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ مَن لَّا يَسْـَٔلُكُمْ أَجْرًا وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ
Follow those who do not ask you for any compensation, while they are rightly guided.
Research verse 36:21 →
وَمَا لِىَ لَآ أَعْبُدُ ٱلَّذِى فَطَرَنِى وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
And what is [wrong] with me that I do not serve the One who originated me, while to Him you are returned?
Research verse 36:22 →
ءَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً إِن يُرِدْنِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَّا تُغْنِ عَنِّى شَفَٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يُنقِذُونِ
Shall I take, apart from Him, gods? If the All-Merciful intends harm for me, their intercession will not avail me in anything, nor will they rescue me.
Research verse 36:23 →
إِنِّىٓ إِذًا لَّفِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
Indeed, I would then surely be in clear misguidance.
Research verse 36:24 →
إِنِّىٓ ءَامَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَٱسْمَعُونِ
Indeed, I have trusted in your Lord, so listen to me.
Research verse 36:25 →
قِيلَ ٱدْخُلِ ٱلْجَنَّةَ قَالَ يَٰلَيْتَ قَوْمِى يَعْلَمُونَ
It was said, “Enter the Garden.” He said, “If only my people knew
Research verse 36:26 →
بِمَا غَفَرَ لِى رَبِّى وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُكْرَمِينَ
because of what my Lord has covered for me and has made me among the ones shown honor.
Research verse 36:27 →
وَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ مِن جُندٍ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِينَ
And We did not send down upon his people after him any force from the sky, nor were We ever ones to send down (such a force).
Research verse 36:28 →
إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ خَٰمِدُونَ
It was nothing but a single shout, then suddenly they were extinguished.
Research verse 36:29 →
يَٰحَسْرَةً عَلَى ٱلْعِبَادِ مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
Oh, regret upon the servants! No messenger ever comes to them but they are, concerning him, mocking.
Research verse 36:30 →
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ
Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them — that they do not return to them?
Research verse 36:31 →
وَإِن كُلٌّ لَّمَّا جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ
And indeed, every single one is only, all together, brought before Us.
Research verse 36:32 →
وَءَايَةٌ لَّهُمُ ٱلْأَرْضُ ٱلْمَيْتَةُ أَحْيَيْنَٰهَا وَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهَا حَبًّا فَمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُونَ
And a sign for them is the dead earth: We gave it life and brought forth from it grain, so from it they eat.
Research verse 36:33 →
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا جَنَّٰتٍ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَٰبٍ وَفَجَّرْنَا فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلْعُيُونِ
And We placed within it gardens of date-palms and grapevines, and We caused to gush forth within it from the springs.
Research verse 36:34 →
لِيَأْكُلُوا۟ مِن ثَمَرِهِۦ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ
so that they may eat from its fruit and from what their hands have worked. Will they, then, not show gratitude?
Research verse 36:35 →
سُبْحَٰنَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلْأَزْوَٰجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنۢبِتُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَمِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَمِمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Transcendent is the One who created all the pairs: from what the earth makes grow, and from their own selves, and from what they do not know.
Research verse 36:36 →
وَءَايَةٌ لَّهُمُ ٱلَّيْلُ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُم مُّظْلِمُونَ
And a sign for them is the night: We strip the day away from it, then suddenly they are darkened.
Research verse 36:37 →
وَٱلشَّمْسُ تَجْرِى لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَّهَا ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ
And the sun runs to a place of settlement for it; that is the apportioning of the Mighty, the Knowing.
Research verse 36:38 →
وَٱلْقَمَرَ قَدَّرْنَٰهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَٱلْعُرْجُونِ ٱلْقَدِيمِ
And the moon – We have precisely apportioned it into stages, until it returns like the old date-stalk.
Research verse 36:39 →
لَا ٱلشَّمْسُ يَنۢبَغِى لَهَآ أَن تُدْرِكَ ٱلْقَمَرَ وَلَا ٱلَّيْلُ سَابِقُ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَكُلٌّ فِى فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ
The sun is not fitting for it that it should catch up to the moon, nor is the night a forerunner of the day; and each one, in an orbit, they swim.
Research verse 36:40 →
وَءَايَةٌ لَّهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
And a sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden ship.
Research verse 36:41 →
وَخَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّن مِّثْلِهِۦ مَا يَرْكَبُونَ
And We created for them, from something like it, that which they ride.
Research verse 36:42 →
وَإِن نَّشَأْ نُغْرِقْهُمْ فَلَا صَرِيخَ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنقَذُونَ
And if We will, We drown them; then there is no responder to [their] cry for them, and they are not rescued.
Research verse 36:43 →
إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَمَتَٰعًا إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
Except as a mercy from Us, and an enjoyment until a (set) time.
Research verse 36:44 →
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
And when it is said to them, “Be wary of what is before you and what is behind you, so that you may be shown mercy.”
Research verse 36:45 →
وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ مِّنْ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
And no sign comes to them from among the signs of their Lord except that they have been ones turning away from it.
Research verse 36:46 →
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَنُطْعِمُ مَن لَّوْ يَشَآءُ ٱللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُۥٓ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
And when it is said to them, “Spend out of what Allah has provided you,” those who have denied say to those who have believed, “Shall we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are only in clear error.”
Research verse 36:47 →
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ
And they say, “When is this promise, if you are truthful?”
Research verse 36:48 →
مَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ
They are waiting for nothing but a single cry that will seize them while they are disputing.
Research verse 36:49 →
فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ تَوْصِيَةً وَلَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
Then they will not be able to make any bequest, nor will they return to their people.
Research verse 36:50 →
وَنُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَنسِلُونَ
And the Trumpet will be blown, then suddenly they, from the burial-places, are slipping swiftly toward their Lord.
Research verse 36:51 →
قَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَا مَنۢ بَعَثَنَا مِن مَّرْقَدِنَا هَٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ وَصَدَقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
They will say, “O our woe! Who has raised us up from our resting-place?” “This is what the All-Merciful had promised, and the envoys spoke truly.”
Research verse 36:52 →
إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ
It was nothing but a single cry, then suddenly they all, together, are present with Us.
Research verse 36:53 →
فَٱلْيَوْمَ لَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
So today no self is wronged in anything, and you are not repaid with anything except what you had been doing.
Research verse 36:54 →
إِنَّ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ٱلْيَوْمَ فِى شُغُلٍ فَٰكِهُونَ
Indeed, the companions of the Garden, today, are in an occupation, enjoying themselves.
Research verse 36:55 →
هُمْ وَأَزْوَٰجُهُمْ فِى ظِلَٰلٍ عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ مُتَّكِـُٔونَ
They and their pairs are in shades, upon the couches, reclining.
Research verse 36:56 →
لَهُمْ فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةٌ وَلَهُم مَّا يَدَّعُونَ
For them therein is fruit, and for them is whatever they call for.
Research verse 36:57 →
سَلَٰمٌ قَوْلًا مِّن رَّبٍّ رَّحِيمٍ
Peace — as a saying from a Lord, ever-merciful.
Research verse 36:58 →
وَٱمْتَٰزُوا۟ ٱلْيَوْمَ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
And stand apart today, O you who are criminals.
Research verse 36:59 →
أَلَمْ أَعْهَدْ إِلَيْكُمْ يَٰبَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ أَن لَّا تَعْبُدُوا۟ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ
Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you should not serve Satan? Indeed, he is surely a manifest enemy to you.
Research verse 36:60 →
وَأَنِ ٱعْبُدُونِى هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ
And that you serve Me—this is an upright path.
Research verse 36:61 →
وَلَقَدْ أَضَلَّ مِنكُمْ جِبِلًّا كَثِيرًا أَفَلَمْ تَكُونُوا۟ تَعْقِلُونَ
And he has surely led many multitudes of you astray. So were you then not using your reason?
Research verse 36:62 →
هَٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ
This is Jahannam which you used to be promised.
Research verse 36:63 →
ٱصْلَوْهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ
Roast in it today because of how you used to cover [the truth].
Research verse 36:64 →
ٱلْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَىٰٓ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَآ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
Today We seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will bear witness to what they had been earning.
Research verse 36:65 →
وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَٱسْتَبَقُوا۟ ٱلصِّرَٰطَ فَأَنَّىٰ يُبْصِرُونَ
And if We willed, We would surely efface [what is] upon their eyes, so they would race for the path—but how could they see?
Research verse 36:66 →
وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَمَسَخْنَٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا ٱسْتَطَٰعُوا۟ مُضِيًّا وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ
And if We willed, We would have transformed them upon their standing-place, so they would not be able to go on, nor to return.
Research verse 36:67 →
وَمَن نُّعَمِّرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِى ٱلْخَلْقِ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ
And whomever We let live long, We turn him back in the creation; will they then not use their reason?
Research verse 36:68 →
وَمَا عَلَّمْنَٰهُ ٱلشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُۥٓ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْءَانٌ مُّبِينٌ
And We did not teach him poetry, and it is not suitable for him. It is nothing but a reminder and a clear Recital.
Research verse 36:69 →
لِّيُنذِرَ مَن كَانَ حَيًّا وَيَحِقَّ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
so that he may warn whoever is (truly) alive, and so that the statement becomes binding upon the deniers.
Research verse 36:70 →
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّمَّا عَمِلَتْ أَيْدِينَآ أَنْعَٰمًا فَهُمْ لَهَا مَٰلِكُونَ
Have they then not seen that We created for them, from what Our hands have worked, livestock, so they are possessors over them?
Research verse 36:71 →
وَذَلَّلْنَٰهَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُونَ
And We have made them tractable for them; so from them is what they ride, and from them is what they eat.
Research verse 36:72 →
وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مَنَٰفِعُ وَمَشَارِبُ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ
And for them in it are benefits and drinking-places; will they, then, not show gratitude?
Research verse 36:73 →
وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً لَّعَلَّهُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
And they have taken, apart from Allah, gods, in order that they might be helped.
Research verse 36:74 →
لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُندٌ مُّحْضَرُونَ
They are not able to give them help, while they are for them a mustered force, made to be present.
Research verse 36:75 →
فَلَا يَحْزُنكَ قَوْلُهُمْ إِنَّا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ
So let not their saying grieve you; indeed, We know what they keep secret and what they make public.
Research verse 36:76 →
أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُّبِينٌ
Has the human not seen that We created him from a drop, then suddenly he is a clear disputant?
Research verse 36:77 →
وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًا وَنَسِىَ خَلْقَهُۥ قَالَ مَن يُحْىِ ٱلْعِظَٰمَ وَهِىَ رَمِيمٌ
And he strikes for Us a likeness and forgets his own creation; he says, “Who will give life to the bones when they are decayed?”
Research verse 36:78 →
قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَهَآ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِيمٌ
Say, “The One who brought them into being the first time will give them life; and He is, of every creation, all-knowing.”
Research verse 36:79 →
ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ ٱلْأَخْضَرِ نَارًا فَإِذَآ أَنتُم مِّنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ
[He is] the One who made for you, from the green tree, a fire; then, suddenly, you are from it kindling [flames].
Research verse 36:80 →
أَوَلَيْسَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِقَٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُم بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ ٱلْخَلَّٰقُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
Is not the One who created the heavens and the earth fully able to create the like of them? Yes indeed — and He is the Constant Creator, the All-Knowing.
Research verse 36:81 →
إِنَّمَآ أَمْرُهُۥٓ إِذَآ أَرَادَ شَيْـًٔا أَن يَقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ
His affair is only that, when He intends a thing, He says to it, “Be,” and it comes to be.
Research verse 36:82 →
فَسُبْحَٰنَ ٱلَّذِى بِيَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
