إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُّبِينًا
Indeed, We have opened for you an evident opening.
Research verse 48:1 →
لِّيَغْفِرَ لَكَ ٱللَّهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِن ذَنۢبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ وَيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكَ وَيَهْدِيَكَ صِرَٰطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا
so that Allah may cover for you what has gone ahead of your liability and what is yet to come, and complete His pleasant favor upon you, and guide you to a straight path,
Research verse 48:2 →
وَيَنصُرَكَ ٱللَّهُ نَصْرًا عَزِيزًا
and that Allah may support you with a support of firm strength.
Research verse 48:3 →
هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ ٱلسَّكِينَةَ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ لِيَزْدَادُوٓا۟ إِيمَٰنًا مَّعَ إِيمَٰنِهِمْ وَلِلَّهِ جُنُودُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
He is the One who sent down stillness into the hearts of the believers so that they may increase in trust along with their trust; and to God belong the forces of the heavens and the earth, and God has always been All‑Knowing, All‑Wise.
Research verse 48:4 →
لِّيُدْخِلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَيُكَفِّرَ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا
so that He may admit the believing men and the believing women into gardens beneath which the rivers flow, remaining therein, and that He may cover over for them their bad deeds; and that has been, with Allah, a tremendous success.
Research verse 48:5 →
وَيُعَذِّبَ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَٱلْمُشْرِكَٰتِ ٱلظَّآنِّينَ بِٱللَّهِ ظَنَّ ٱلسَّوْءِ عَلَيْهِمْ دَآئِرَةُ ٱلسَّوْءِ وَغَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَنَهُمْ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَهَنَّمَ وَسَآءَتْ مَصِيرًا
And [that He may] punish the hypocrite men and the hypocrite women, and the associating men and the associating women—those who entertain about Allah a thought of evil. Upon them is the turn of evil, and Allah has become angry with them and has banished them from His mercy and has prepared for them Hell—and wretched is it as a destination.
Research verse 48:6 →
وَلِلَّهِ جُنُودُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا
And to Allah belong the forces of the heavens and the earth, and Allah has always been overpoweringly strong, all‑wise.
Research verse 48:7 →
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ شَٰهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا
Indeed, We have sent you as a witness, and as a bearer of good news, and as a warner.
Research verse 48:8 →
لِّتُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتُعَزِّرُوهُ وَتُوَقِّرُوهُ وَتُسَبِّحُوهُ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا
so that you may trust in Allah and His messenger, and support him, and honor him, and glorify Him, morning and late in the day.
Research verse 48:9 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُبَايِعُونَكَ إِنَّمَا يُبَايِعُونَ ٱللَّهَ يَدُ ٱللَّهِ فَوْقَ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَمَن نَّكَثَ فَإِنَّمَا يَنكُثُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِمَا عَٰهَدَ عَلَيْهُ ٱللَّهَ فَسَيُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا
Indeed, those who pledge with you are only pledging with Allah; the hand of Allah is above their hands. So whoever breaks (it) only breaks against his own self, and whoever fully keeps what he has pledged with Allah, then He will soon give him a tremendous reward.
Research verse 48:10 →
سَيَقُولُ لَكَ ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ شَغَلَتْنَآ أَمْوَٰلُنَا وَأَهْلُونَا فَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَا يَقُولُونَ بِأَلْسِنَتِهِم مَّا لَيْسَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ قُلْ فَمَن يَمْلِكُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا إِنْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ ضَرًّا أَوْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ نَفْعًۢا بَلْ كَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًۢا
Those left behind of the desert‑dwellers will soon say to you, “Our wealth and our families kept us busy, so ask forgiveness for us.” They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say, “Then who holds any power for you against Allah, if He intends harm for you or intends benefit for you? No; rather, Allah has always been fully aware of what you do.”
Research verse 48:11 →
بَلْ ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَنقَلِبَ ٱلرَّسُولُ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِيهِمْ أَبَدًا وَزُيِّنَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَظَنَنتُمْ ظَنَّ ٱلسَّوْءِ وَكُنتُمْ قَوْمًۢا بُورًا
No—rather, you supposed that the Messenger and the believers would never turn back to their families ever, and that was made adorned within your hearts, and you supposed a supposition of evil, and you became a people utterly ruined.
Research verse 48:12 →
وَمَن لَّمْ يُؤْمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ فَإِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ سَعِيرًا
And whoever does not trust in Allah and His messenger – then indeed We have made ready, for the deniers, a raging blaze.
Research verse 48:13 →
وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ يَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا
And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He covers over (in mercy) for whom He wills, and He chastises whom He wills, and Allah has always been All-Covering (in forgiveness), Ever-merciful.
Research verse 48:14 →
سَيَقُولُ ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ إِذَا ٱنطَلَقْتُمْ إِلَىٰ مَغَانِمَ لِتَأْخُذُوهَا ذَرُونَا نَتَّبِعْكُمْ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُبَدِّلُوا۟ كَلَٰمَ ٱللَّهِ قُل لَّن تَتَّبِعُونَا كَذَٰلِكُمْ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ مِن قَبْلُ فَسَيَقُولُونَ بَلْ تَحْسُدُونَنَا بَلْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
Those left behind will soon say, when you set out toward spoils to take them, “Leave us, that we may follow you.” They want to alter the speech of Allah. Say, “You will never follow us; such was what Allah said before.” So they will say, “No, rather you are envying us.” Rather, they had not been understanding except a little.
Research verse 48:15 →
قُل لِّلْمُخَلَّفِينَ مِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ سَتُدْعَوْنَ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ أُو۟لِى بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ تُقَٰتِلُونَهُمْ أَوْ يُسْلِمُونَ فَإِن تُطِيعُوا۟ يُؤْتِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ أَجْرًا حَسَنًا وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوْا۟ كَمَا تَوَلَّيْتُم مِّن قَبْلُ يُعَذِّبْكُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
Say to those left behind from among the desert‑dwellers: “You will soon be called toward a people endowed with intense might; you will fight them, or they will yield. So if you obey, Allah will grant you a good reward; but if you turn away, just as you turned away before, He will punish you with a painful punishment.”
Research verse 48:16 →
لَّيْسَ عَلَى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلْأَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلْمَرِيضِ حَرَجٌ وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ يُعَذِّبْهُ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
There is no constraint upon the blind, nor is there any constraint upon the lame, nor is there any constraint upon the sick. And whoever obeys Allah and His messenger, He will admit him into gardens beneath which rivers flow; and whoever turns away, He will punish him with a painful punishment.
Research verse 48:17 →
لَّقَدْ رَضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِذْ يُبَايِعُونَكَ تَحْتَ ٱلشَّجَرَةِ فَعَلِمَ مَا فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ فَأَنزَلَ ٱلسَّكِينَةَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَثَٰبَهُمْ فَتْحًا قَرِيبًا
Allah has indeed been satisfied with the believers when they were pledging with you under the tree, so He knew what was in their hearts, and He sent down calmness upon them and repaid them with a near opening.
Research verse 48:18 →
وَمَغَانِمَ كَثِيرَةً يَأْخُذُونَهَا وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا
and many spoils that they will take; and Allah has always been overpowering, wise.
Research verse 48:19 →
وَعَدَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ مَغَانِمَ كَثِيرَةً تَأْخُذُونَهَا فَعَجَّلَ لَكُمْ هَٰذِهِۦ وَكَفَّ أَيْدِىَ ٱلنَّاسِ عَنكُمْ وَلِتَكُونَ ءَايَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ صِرَٰطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا
Allah has promised you many spoils that you will take, and so He has hastened this one for you, and He has held back the hands of the people from you, so that it may be a sign for the believers and that He may guide you to a straight path.
Research verse 48:20 →
وَأُخْرَىٰ لَمْ تَقْدِرُوا۟ عَلَيْهَا قَدْ أَحَاطَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرًا
And another [one] which you have not been able [yet] to [attain]; Allah has encompassed it, and Allah has always been powerful over every thing.
Research verse 48:21 →
وَلَوْ قَٰتَلَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوَلَّوُا۟ ٱلْأَدْبَٰرَ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُونَ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا
And if those who covered [the truth] had fought you, they would surely have turned [to] the backs; then they would not find any ally nor any helper.
Research verse 48:22 →
سُنَّةَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ ٱللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًا
[It is] the pattern of Allah which has already passed before, and you will never find any replacement for the pattern of Allah.
Research verse 48:23 →
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى كَفَّ أَيْدِيَهُمْ عَنكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ عَنْهُم بِبَطْنِ مَكَّةَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَنْ أَظْفَرَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرًا
And He is the One who restrained their hands from you and your hands from them in the interior of Makkah, after He had made you prevail over them; and Allah has always been Seeing of what you do.
Research verse 48:24 →
هُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوكُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ وَٱلْهَدْىَ مَعْكُوفًا أَن يَبْلُغَ مَحِلَّهُۥ وَلَوْلَا رِجَالٌ مُّؤْمِنُونَ وَنِسَآءٌ مُّؤْمِنَٰتٌ لَّمْ تَعْلَمُوهُمْ أَن تَطَـُٔوهُمْ فَتُصِيبَكُم مِّنْهُم مَّعَرَّةٌۢ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ لِّيُدْخِلَ ٱللَّهُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ لَوْ تَزَيَّلُوا۟ لَعَذَّبْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
They are the ones who covered over [the truth] and barred you from the inviolable place of prostration, and the offering, held back so that it could not reach its place of release. And were it not for believing men and believing women whom you did not know, [lest] you trample them and thus dishonor would strike you from them without [your] knowing, [this restraint was] so that Allah may admit into His mercy whom He wills. If they had separated out, We would certainly have punished those of them who covered over [the truth] with a painful punishment.
Research verse 48:25 →
إِذْ جَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلْحَمِيَّةَ حَمِيَّةَ ٱلْجَٰهِلِيَّةِ فَأَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَعَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَأَلْزَمَهُمْ كَلِمَةَ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ وَكَانُوٓا۟ أَحَقَّ بِهَا وَأَهْلَهَا وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًا
When those who covered [the truth] placed in their hearts the heated zealotry—the zealotry of the Age of Ignorance—then Allah sent down His calmness upon His Messenger and upon the believers, and He bound them to the word of conscientious wariness; and they were more entitled to it and its people. And Allah has always been All-Knowing of everything.
Research verse 48:26 →
لَّقَدْ صَدَقَ ٱللَّهُ رَسُولَهُ ٱلرُّءْيَا بِٱلْحَقِّ لَتَدْخُلُنَّ ٱلْمَسْجِدَ ٱلْحَرَامَ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ءَامِنِينَ مُحَلِّقِينَ رُءُوسَكُمْ وَمُقَصِّرِينَ لَا تَخَافُونَ فَعَلِمَ مَا لَمْ تَعْلَمُوا۟ فَجَعَلَ مِن دُونِ ذَٰلِكَ فَتْحًا قَرِيبًا
Allah has indeed proven true to His Messenger the vision, in truth: you will surely enter the inviolable place of prostration, if Allah so wills, in security—shaving your heads and shortening (your hair), not fearing. Then He knew what you did not know, so He established, apart from that, an opening that was near.
Research verse 48:27 →
هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ ٱلْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلدِّينِ كُلِّهِۦ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًا
He is the One who has sent His messenger with the guidance and the judgment of the truth, so that He may make it prevail over the entire judgment-system; and Allah suffices as a Witness.
Research verse 48:28 →
مُّحَمَّدٌ رَّسُولُ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلَّذِينَ مَعَهُۥٓ أَشِدَّآءُ عَلَى ٱلْكُفَّارِ رُحَمَآءُ بَيْنَهُمْ تَرَىٰهُمْ رُكَّعًا سُجَّدًا يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضْوَٰنًا سِيمَاهُمْ فِى وُجُوهِهِم مِّنْ أَثَرِ ٱلسُّجُودِ ذَٰلِكَ مَثَلُهُمْ فِى ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَمَثَلُهُمْ فِى ٱلْإِنجِيلِ كَزَرْعٍ أَخْرَجَ شَطْـَٔهُۥ فَـَٔازَرَهُۥ فَٱسْتَغْلَظَ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَىٰ سُوقِهِۦ يُعْجِبُ ٱلزُّرَّاعَ لِيَغِيظَ بِهِمُ ٱلْكُفَّارَ وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ مِنْهُم مَّغْفِرَةً وَأَجْرًا عَظِيمًۢا
Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and those who are with him are intense against the concealers, compassionate among themselves. You see them bowing, prostrating, seeking bounty from Allah and approval. Their mark is in their faces from the trace of the prostration. That is their likeness in the Torah. And their likeness in the Gospel is as a crop that has brought forth its shoot, then supported it, so it thickened, then stood upright upon its stalks, delighting the sowers, so that He may enrage by them the concealers. Allah has promised those among them who have believed and done sound deeds forgiveness and a tremendous reward.
