الٓر تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَقُرْءَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
Alif–Lam–Ra. Those are the signs of the Book and of a clarifying recital.
Research verse 15:1 →
رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ مُسْلِمِينَ
More than once those who have covered [the truth] will wish, “If only we had been Muslims.”
Research verse 15:2 →
ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا۟ وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ وَيُلْهِهِمُ ٱلْأَمَلُ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Leave them to eat and to enjoy themselves, and let [their] expectation distract them; then they will come to know.
Research verse 15:3 →
وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
And We did not bring any town to ruin except that it has a specified writing.

مَّا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ
No community outstrips its appointed term, nor do they seek to delay it.
Research verse 15:5 →
وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِى نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ
And they said, “O you upon whom the Reminder has been sent down, indeed you are surely mad.”
Research verse 15:6 →
لَّوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
“Why do you not bring us the angels, if you are among the truthful?”
Research verse 15:7 →
مَا نُنَزِّلُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوٓا۟ إِذًا مُّنظَرِينَ
We do not send down the angels except with the truth, and then they are not ones given respite.
Research verse 15:8 →
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا ٱلذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ
Indeed, it is We — We have sent down the Reminder, and indeed, We are surely its guardians.
Research verse 15:9 →
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِى شِيَعِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
And indeed, We certainly sent [messengers] before you into the factions of the former ones.
Research verse 15:10 →
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
And no messenger ever came to them but that they were ridiculing him.
Research verse 15:11 →
كَذَٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُۥ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
In this way We thread it into the hearts of the criminals.
Research verse 15:12 →
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
They do not believe in it, while the pattern of the former ones has already passed.
Research verse 15:13 →
وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَابًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّوا۟ فِيهِ يَعْرُجُونَ
And if We opened for them a gate from the sky, and they kept on ascending through it,
Research verse 15:14 →
لَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَٰرُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَّسْحُورُونَ
they would surely say, “Indeed, our eyes have been made intoxicated; rather, we are a people under a spell.”
Research verse 15:15 →
وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجًا وَزَيَّنَّٰهَا لِلنَّٰظِرِينَ
And We have indeed placed in the sky constellations, and We have adorned it for those who look.
Research verse 15:16 →
وَحَفِظْنَٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ
And We have guarded it from every outcast devil.
Research verse 15:17 →
إِلَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَرَقَ ٱلسَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ مُّبِينٌ
except one who stealthily steals the hearing—then a manifest shooting-flame follows him.
Research verse 15:18 →
وَٱلْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَٰهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ مَّوْزُونٍ
And the earth – We have stretched it out, and We have cast into it stabilizing (mounts), and We have caused to grow in it, of every thing, [what is] measured.
Research verse 15:19 →
وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَ وَمَن لَّسْتُمْ لَهُۥ بِرَٰزِقِينَ
And We placed for you therein means of living, and [also] for those for whom you are not providers.
Research verse 15:20 →
وَإِن مِّن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَآئِنُهُۥ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
And there is not a thing but that with Us are its treasuries, and We do not send it down except by a known measure.
Research verse 15:21 →
وَأَرْسَلْنَا ٱلرِّيَٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُمُوهُ وَمَآ أَنتُمْ لَهُۥ بِخَٰزِنِينَ
And We sent the winds as impregnating, then We sent down water from the sky, then We gave it to you to drink, while you are not ones who store it up.
Research verse 15:22 →
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْىِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحْنُ ٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ
And indeed, it is We — We who give life and cause death, and We are the inheritors.
Research verse 15:23 →
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا ٱلْمُسْتَـْٔخِرِينَ
And We have indeed known those who advance among you, and We have indeed known those who hold back.
Research verse 15:24 →
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ
And indeed, it is your Lord who will gather them; indeed, He is wise, all‑knowing.
Research verse 15:25 →
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
And indeed We created the human from a ringing clay, from a moulded dark mud.
Research verse 15:26 →
وَٱلْجَآنَّ خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِ
And the jān, We created it earlier, from a fire of scorching (blast).
Research verse 15:27 →
وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًا مِّن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
And when your Lord said to the angels, “Indeed, I am one who creates a human from ringing clay, from dark mud that has been shaped.”
Research verse 15:28 →
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَٰجِدِينَ
So when I have shaped him evenly and blown into him from My spirit, then fall down to him as ones prostrating.
Research verse 15:29 →
فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
So the angels fell down in prostration, every one of them, all together.
Research verse 15:30 →
إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
Except Iblees; he refused to be with those who prostrate.
Research verse 15:31 →
قَالَ يَٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
He said, “O Iblees, what is [wrong] with you that you are not to be with those who prostrate?”
Research verse 15:32 →
قَالَ لَمْ أَكُن لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن صَلْصَٰلٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
He said, “I was not to prostrate to a mortal you created from ringing clay, from dark mud, fashioned.”
Research verse 15:33 →
قَالَ فَٱخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
He said, “So get out from it, for indeed you are one cast off.”
Research verse 15:34 →
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ ٱللَّعْنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
And indeed, upon you is the banishment until the Day of Judgment.
Research verse 15:35 →
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
He said, “My Lord, then defer me until the Day they are raised up.”
Research verse 15:36 →
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ
He said, “Then indeed, you are surely among those given respite,
Research verse 15:37 →
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْوَقْتِ ٱلْمَعْلُومِ
until the Day of the appointed, known time.
Research verse 15:38 →
قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ أَغْوَيْتَنِى لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
He said, “My Lord, because You have led me astray, I will surely adorn [things] for them in the earth, and I will surely lead them all astray.”
Research verse 15:39 →
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
except Your servants among them who are made pure.
Research verse 15:40 →
قَالَ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ عَلَىَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ
He said, “This is a path, straight upon Me.”
Research verse 15:41 →
إِنَّ عِبَادِى لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْغَاوِينَ
Indeed, My servants – you have no authority over them, except whoever follows you, out of the errant ones.
Research verse 15:42 →
وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
And indeed, Jahannam is their appointed place, all together.
Research verse 15:43 →
لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَٰبٍ لِّكُلِّ بَابٍ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَّقْسُومٌ
It has seven gateways; for every gateway, from them, is an allotted portion.
Research verse 15:44 →
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
Indeed, the ones who are mindful (of God) will be in gardens and springs.
Research verse 15:45 →
ٱدْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٍ ءَامِنِينَ
“Enter it with peace, as ones secure.”
Research verse 15:46 →
وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِى صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ إِخْوَٰنًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
And We pulled out whatever of inserted rancor was in their chests, [so that they are] as brothers, upon elevated seats, facing one another.
Research verse 15:47 →
لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ
No hardship will touch them there, and they will not be made to go out from it.
Research verse 15:48 →
نَبِّئْ عِبَادِىٓ أَنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Inform My servants that it is I — I am the All-Covering Forgiver, the Ever-Merciful.
Research verse 15:49 →
وَأَنَّ عَذَابِى هُوَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ٱلْأَلِيمُ
and that My chastisement – it is the painful chastisement.
Research verse 15:50 →
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ضَيْفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
And inform them about the guests of Abraham,
Research verse 15:51 →
إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَٰمًا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ وَجِلُونَ
When they entered upon him and said, “Peace,” he said, “Indeed, we are fearful because of you.”
Research verse 15:52 →
قَالُوا۟ لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٍ
They said, “Do not be afraid; indeed, we bring you good news of a knowledgeable boy.”
Research verse 15:53 →
قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِى عَلَىٰٓ أَن مَّسَّنِىَ ٱلْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ
He said, “Do you give me good news despite that old age has touched me? So of what do you give good news?”
Research verse 15:54 →
قَالُوا۟ بَشَّرْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْقَٰنِطِينَ
They said, “We have brought you good news in truth, so do not be among those who despair.”
Research verse 15:55 →
قَالَ وَمَن يَقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ
He said, “And who gives up hope of the mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?”
Research verse 15:56 →
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
He said, “So what is your concern, O you who are sent?”
Research verse 15:57 →
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ
They said, “Indeed, we have been sent to a people who are criminals.”
Research verse 15:58 →
إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
except the household of Lot; indeed, We are surely delivering them all together
Research verse 15:59 →
إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَآ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ
except his wife; We determined that she is indeed among those who remain behind.
Research verse 15:60 →
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ءَالَ لُوطٍ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
So when the envoys came to the household of Lot,
Research verse 15:61 →
قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ
He said, “You are a people unknown.”
Research verse 15:62 →
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ جِئْنَٰكَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ
They said, “Rather, we have come to you with that about which they used to be in doubt.”
Research verse 15:63 →
وَأَتَيْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ
And we have come to you with the truth, and indeed, we are surely truthful.
Research verse 15:64 →
فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱتَّبِعْ أَدْبَٰرَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَٱمْضُوا۟ حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ
So travel with your household by a portion of the night, and follow behind them, and let none of you turn back, and proceed to where you are commanded.
Research verse 15:65 →
وَقَضَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقْطُوعٌ مُّصْبِحِينَ
And We decreed to him that matter: that the rear of these people would be cut off at early morning.
Research verse 15:66 →
وَجَآءَ أَهْلُ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ
And the people of the town came, exulting.
Research verse 15:67 →
قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيْفِى فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ
He said, “Indeed, these are my guests, so do not expose me to disgrace.”
Research verse 15:68 →
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ
And be wary of Allah, and do not humiliate me.
Research verse 15:69 →
قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
They said, “Did we not forbid you concerning the worlds?”
Research verse 15:70 →
قَالَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِىٓ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ
He said, “These are my daughters, if you are ones who are going to act.”
Research verse 15:71 →
لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِى سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
By your living, they are indeed, in their stupor, wandering blindly.
Research verse 15:72 →
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ
So the Cry seized them as they were entering into sunrise.
Research verse 15:73 →
فَجَعَلْنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
So We turned its highest part into its lowest, and We rained upon them stones from sijjīl.
Research verse 15:74 →
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَٰتٍ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ
Indeed, in that are signs for those who read the marks.
Research verse 15:75 →
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍ مُّقِيمٍ
And indeed, it is surely upon a standing way.
Research verse 15:76 →
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Indeed, in that is a sign for those who are secure in faith.
Research verse 15:77 →
وَإِن كَانَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْأَيْكَةِ لَظَٰلِمِينَ
And indeed, the companions of the thicket were surely wrongdoers.
Research verse 15:78 →
فَٱنتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ
So We took vengeance on them, and indeed, the two of them are surely on a clear leader.
Research verse 15:79 →
وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْحِجْرِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
And surely the companions of al-Ḥijr denied the messengers.
Research verse 15:80 →
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَكَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
And We gave them Our signs, but they were, from them, turning away.
Research verse 15:81 →
وَكَانُوا۟ يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا ءَامِنِينَ
And they used to carve out from the mountains dwellings, feeling secure.
Research verse 15:82 →
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَ
So the Cry seized them as they were entering upon morning.
Research verse 15:83 →
فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
So what they used to acquire did not benefit them at all.
Research verse 15:84 →
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَـَٔاتِيَةٌ فَٱصْفَحِ ٱلصَّفْحَ ٱلْجَمِيلَ
And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them except with the truth; and indeed the Hour is surely coming, so overlook with a gracious overlooking.
Research verse 15:85 →
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ ٱلْخَلَّٰقُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
Indeed, your Lord—He is the Constant Creator, the All-Knowing.
Research verse 15:86 →
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَٰكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ ٱلْمَثَانِى وَٱلْقُرْءَانَ ٱلْعَظِيمَ
And We have indeed given you seven from the oft-repeated, and the magnificent Qur’an.
Research verse 15:87 →
لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًا مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Do not stretch out your eyes toward what We have given them to enjoy in kinds, and do not grieve over them; and lower your wing to the believers.
Research verse 15:88 →
وَقُلْ إِنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱلنَّذِيرُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
And say, “Indeed, I am the evident warner.”
Research verse 15:89 →
كَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى ٱلْمُقْتَسِمِينَ
just as We have sent down upon the partitioners
Research verse 15:90 →
ٱلَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا۟ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ عِضِينَ
Those who have made the Qur’an into separated parts.
Research verse 15:91 →
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
So by your Lord, We will certainly question them, all together,
Research verse 15:92 →
عَمَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
about what they had been doing.
Research verse 15:93 →
فَٱصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
So proclaim openly what you are commanded, and turn away from those who join [others with God].
Research verse 15:94 →
إِنَّا كَفَيْنَٰكَ ٱلْمُسْتَهْزِءِينَ
Indeed, We are enough for you against those who ridicule.
Research verse 15:95 →
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
those who set up, along with Allah, another god — so they will surely know.
Research verse 15:96 →
وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ
And indeed We know that your chest becomes tight because of what they say.
Research verse 15:97 →
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
So declare the transcendence of your Lord with praise, and be among those who prostrate.
Research verse 15:98 →
وَٱعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ
And serve your Lord until certainty comes to you.
Research verse 15:99 →
