الٓر تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
Alif–Lam–Ra. Those are the signs of the clarifying Book.
Research verse 12:1 →
إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ قُرْءَٰنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
We have indeed sent it down as an Arabic recitation, so that you may use reason.
Research verse 12:2 →
نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْقَصَصِ بِمَآ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ وَإِن كُنتَ مِن قَبْلِهِۦ لَمِنَ ٱلْغَٰفِلِينَ
We recount to you the most excellent recounting by what We have inspired to you—this Qur’an; and indeed, you were, before it, surely among those unaware.
Research verse 12:3 →
إِذْ قَالَ يُوسُفُ لِأَبِيهِ يَٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّى رَأَيْتُ أَحَدَ عَشَرَ كَوْكَبًا وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ رَأَيْتُهُمْ لِى سَٰجِدِينَ
When Joseph said to his father, “My dear father, indeed I have seen eleven stars, and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating themselves to me.”
Research verse 12:4 →
قَالَ يَٰبُنَىَّ لَا تَقْصُصْ رُءْيَاكَ عَلَىٰٓ إِخْوَتِكَ فَيَكِيدُوا۟ لَكَ كَيْدًا إِنَّ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ لِلْإِنسَٰنِ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ
He said, “O my son, do not recount your vision to your brothers, lest they scheme against you with a scheming. Indeed, the Satan is, for the human being, a clear enemy.”
Research verse 12:5 →
وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَجْتَبِيكَ رَبُّكَ وَيُعَلِّمُكَ مِن تَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحَادِيثِ وَيُتِمُّ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰٓ ءَالِ يَعْقُوبَ كَمَآ أَتَمَّهَا عَلَىٰٓ أَبَوَيْكَ مِن قَبْلُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ
And in this way your Lord will select you, and teach you from the outcome‑realization of the accounts, and complete His pleasant favor upon you and upon the people of Jacob, just as He completed it before upon your two forefathers, Abraham and Isaac. Indeed, your Lord is All‑Knowing, All‑Wise.
Research verse 12:6 →
لَّقَدْ كَانَ فِى يُوسُفَ وَإِخْوَتِهِۦٓ ءَايَٰتٌ لِّلسَّآئِلِينَ
Surely there have indeed been, in Joseph and his brothers, signs for those who inquire.
Research verse 12:7 →
إِذْ قَالُوا۟ لَيُوسُفُ وَأَخُوهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِينَا مِنَّا وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَةٌ إِنَّ أَبَانَا لَفِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
When they said, “Surely Joseph and his brother are more beloved to our father than we are, while we are a strong band. Indeed, our father is surely in obvious error.”
Research verse 12:8 →
ٱقْتُلُوا۟ يُوسُفَ أَوِ ٱطْرَحُوهُ أَرْضًا يَخْلُ لَكُمْ وَجْهُ أَبِيكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ قَوْمًا صَٰلِحِينَ
Kill Joseph, or throw him away into some land, so that your father’s attention may be exclusively for you, and afterward you will become a people who are sound (in conduct).
Research verse 12:9 →
قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ لَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ يُوسُفَ وَأَلْقُوهُ فِى غَيَٰبَتِ ٱلْجُبِّ يَلْتَقِطْهُ بَعْضُ ٱلسَّيَّارَةِ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ
One of them said, “Do not kill Joseph; instead, cast him into the hidden depth of the pit, so that some of the travelers may pick him up, if you are going to be doing (something).”
Research verse 12:10 →
قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَبَانَا مَا لَكَ لَا تَأْمَ۫نَّا عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَنَٰصِحُونَ
They said, “O our father, what is [the matter] with you that you do not trust us regarding Joseph, while indeed we are surely sincere toward him?”
Research verse 12:11 →
أَرْسِلْهُ مَعَنَا غَدًا يَرْتَعْ وَيَلْعَبْ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ
Send him with us tomorrow so he may roam freely and play, and indeed, we will surely be protectors for him.
Research verse 12:12 →
قَالَ إِنِّى لَيَحْزُنُنِىٓ أَن تَذْهَبُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَأَخَافُ أَن يَأْكُلَهُ ٱلذِّئْبُ وَأَنتُمْ عَنْهُ غَٰفِلُونَ
He said, “Indeed, it truly grieves me that you go off with him, and I fear that the wolf may eat him while you are heedless of him.”
Research verse 12:13 →
قَالُوا۟ لَئِنْ أَكَلَهُ ٱلذِّئْبُ وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَةٌ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّخَٰسِرُونَ
They said, “If the wolf eats him while we are a band, then we would indeed, in that case, surely be losers.”
Research verse 12:14 →
فَلَمَّا ذَهَبُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَأَجْمَعُوٓا۟ أَن يَجْعَلُوهُ فِى غَيَٰبَتِ ٱلْجُبِّ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ لَتُنَبِّئَنَّهُم بِأَمْرِهِمْ هَٰذَا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
So when they went off with him and had firmly resolved to place him in the hidden depth of the pit, We communicated to him: “You will surely inform them about this affair of theirs, while they are not sensing (it).”
Research verse 12:15 →
وَجَآءُوٓ أَبَاهُمْ عِشَآءً يَبْكُونَ
And they came to their father at evening, weeping.
Research verse 12:16 →
قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَبَانَآ إِنَّا ذَهَبْنَا نَسْتَبِقُ وَتَرَكْنَا يُوسُفَ عِندَ مَتَٰعِنَا فَأَكَلَهُ ٱلذِّئْبُ وَمَآ أَنتَ بِمُؤْمِنٍ لَّنَا وَلَوْ كُنَّا صَٰدِقِينَ
They said, “O our father, we indeed went off competing, and we left Joseph by our goods, so the wolf devoured him. Yet you are not one to trust us, even if we were truthful.”
Research verse 12:17 →
وَجَآءُو عَلَىٰ قَمِيصِهِۦ بِدَمٍ كَذِبٍ قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ وَٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ
And they came with his shirt, with lying blood upon it. He said, "Rather, your selves have made this matter seem easy for you, so [my response is] fine endurance. And Allah is the One whose help is sought against what you describe."
Research verse 12:18 →
وَجَآءَتْ سَيَّارَةٌ فَأَرْسَلُوا۟ وَارِدَهُمْ فَأَدْلَىٰ دَلْوَهُۥ قَالَ يَٰبُشْرَىٰ هَٰذَا غُلَٰمٌ وَأَسَرُّوهُ بِضَٰعَةً وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ
And a travelling caravan came, then they sent their water‑drawer, so he let down his bucket. He said, “O good news! This is a boy.” And they concealed him as merchandise, and Allah is All‑Knowing of what they do.
Research verse 12:19 →
وَشَرَوْهُ بِثَمَنٍۭ بَخْسٍ دَرَٰهِمَ مَعْدُودَةٍ وَكَانُوا۟ فِيهِ مِنَ ٱلزَّٰهِدِينَ
And they sold him for a devalued price, a few counted dirhams; and they were, regarding him, among those who have little desire.
Research verse 12:20 →
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِى ٱشْتَرَىٰهُ مِن مِّصْرَ لِٱمْرَأَتِهِۦٓ أَكْرِمِى مَثْوَىٰهُ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَنفَعَنَآ أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُۥ وَلَدًا وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلِنُعَلِّمَهُۥ مِن تَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحَادِيثِ وَٱللَّهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرِهِۦ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
And the one from Egypt who bought him said to his wife, “Honor his lodging; perhaps he will benefit us, or we will take him as a child.” And thus We established Joseph in the land, and so that We might teach him from the returning of the accounts. And Allah is prevailing over His command, but most of the people do not know.
Research verse 12:21 →
وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُۥٓ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
And when he reached his full strength, We granted him wise judgment and knowledge; and thus We recompense the ones who excel in doing good.
Research verse 12:22 →
وَرَٰوَدَتْهُ ٱلَّتِى هُوَ فِى بَيْتِهَا عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ وَغَلَّقَتِ ٱلْأَبْوَٰبَ وَقَالَتْ هَيْتَ لَكَ قَالَ مَعَاذَ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ رَبِّىٓ أَحْسَنَ مَثْوَاىَ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ
And she in whose house he was tried to draw him away from his self, and she firmly shut the doors and said, “Come over, for you.” He said, “Refuge with Allah! Indeed, He is my Lord; He has made my lodging good. Indeed, the wrongdoers do not succeed.”
Research verse 12:23 →
وَلَقَدْ هَمَّتْ بِهِۦ وَهَمَّ بِهَا لَوْلَآ أَن رَّءَا بُرْهَٰنَ رَبِّهِۦ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنَصْرِفَ عَنْهُ ٱلسُّوٓءَ وَٱلْفَحْشَآءَ إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
And she certainly resolved concerning him, and he would have resolved concerning her, were it not that he saw the proof of his Lord. Thus [it was] so that We might turn away from him the evil and the outrageous indecency. Indeed, he was among Our purified servants.
Research verse 12:24 →
وَٱسْتَبَقَا ٱلْبَابَ وَقَدَّتْ قَمِيصَهُۥ مِن دُبُرٍ وَأَلْفَيَا سَيِّدَهَا لَدَا ٱلْبَابِ قَالَتْ مَا جَزَآءُ مَنْ أَرَادَ بِأَهْلِكَ سُوٓءًا إِلَّآ أَن يُسْجَنَ أَوْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
And the two of them raced to the door, and she tore his shirt from the back, and they both encountered her master at the door. She said, “What is the recompense of one who intended bad for your family, except that he be imprisoned or [face] a painful punishment?”
Research verse 12:25 →
قَالَ هِىَ رَٰوَدَتْنِى عَن نَّفْسِى وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِهَآ إِن كَانَ قَمِيصُهُۥ قُدَّ مِن قُبُلٍ فَصَدَقَتْ وَهُوَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ
He said, “It was she who tried to entice me away from my self.” And a witness from her people testified, “If his shirt has been torn from the front, then she has been truthful, and he is among the liars.
Research verse 12:26 →
وَإِن كَانَ قَمِيصُهُۥ قُدَّ مِن دُبُرٍ فَكَذَبَتْ وَهُوَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
But if his shirt has been torn from [the] back, then she has lied, and he is indeed among the truthful.
Research verse 12:27 →
فَلَمَّا رَءَا قَمِيصَهُۥ قُدَّ مِن دُبُرٍ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ مِن كَيْدِكُنَّ إِنَّ كَيْدَكُنَّ عَظِيمٌ
So when he saw that his shirt had been torn from the back, he said, “This is indeed from your plotting; indeed, your plotting is tremendous.”
Research verse 12:28 →
يُوسُفُ أَعْرِضْ عَنْ هَٰذَا وَٱسْتَغْفِرِى لِذَنۢبِكِ إِنَّكِ كُنتِ مِنَ ٱلْخَاطِـِٔينَ
“Yūsuf, turn away from this; and you, seek covering-forgiveness for your tail‑offense. Indeed, you have been among the offenders.”
Research verse 12:29 →
وَقَالَ نِسْوَةٌ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ ٱمْرَأَتُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ تُرَٰوِدُ فَتَىٰهَا عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ قَدْ شَغَفَهَا حُبًّا إِنَّا لَنَرَىٰهَا فِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
And women in the city said, “The wife of the mighty one is trying to coax her young man away from his self; indeed, love has pierced her. We certainly see her to be in obvious error.”
Research verse 12:30 →
فَلَمَّا سَمِعَتْ بِمَكْرِهِنَّ أَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَعْتَدَتْ لَهُنَّ مُتَّكَـًٔا وَءَاتَتْ كُلَّ وَٰحِدَةٍ مِّنْهُنَّ سِكِّينًا وَقَالَتِ ٱخْرُجْ عَلَيْهِنَّ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْنَهُۥٓ أَكْبَرْنَهُۥ وَقَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ وَقُلْنَ حَٰشَ لِلَّهِ مَا هَٰذَا بَشَرًا إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ
So when she heard of their plotting, she sent to them and prepared for them a reclining place, and she gave each one of them a knife, and she said, “Come out before them.” Then when they saw him, they greatly exalted him, and cut their hands, and said, “Far be it for God! This is not a human; this is nothing but a noble angel.”
Research verse 12:31 →
قَالَتْ فَذَٰلِكُنَّ ٱلَّذِى لُمْتُنَّنِى فِيهِ وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدتُّهُۥ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ فَٱسْتَعْصَمَ وَلَئِن لَّمْ يَفْعَلْ مَآ ءَامُرُهُۥ لَيُسْجَنَنَّ وَلَيَكُونًا مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰغِرِينَ
She said, “So this is the one about whom you blamed me. And I certainly tried to entice him away from his self, but he held fast in restraint. And if he does not do what I command him, he will surely be imprisoned, and he will indeed become one of the diminished.”
Research verse 12:32 →
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱلسِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَىَّ مِمَّا يَدْعُونَنِىٓ إِلَيْهِ وَإِلَّا تَصْرِفْ عَنِّى كَيْدَهُنَّ أَصْبُ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ
He said, “My Lord, the prison is more beloved to me than that to which they are calling me; and if You do not turn away from me their plotting, I may incline towards them and be among the ignorant.”
Research verse 12:33 →
فَٱسْتَجَابَ لَهُۥ رَبُّهُۥ فَصَرَفَ عَنْهُ كَيْدَهُنَّ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
So his Lord responded to him and turned away from him their plotting. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Knowing.
Research verse 12:34 →
ثُمَّ بَدَا لَهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَا رَأَوُا۟ ٱلْـَٔايَٰتِ لَيَسْجُنُنَّهُۥ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
Then it became apparent to them, after they had seen the signs, that they would surely imprison him for a time.
Research verse 12:35 →
وَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ ٱلسِّجْنَ فَتَيَانِ قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَآ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰنِىٓ أَعْصِرُ خَمْرًا وَقَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخَرُ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰنِىٓ أَحْمِلُ فَوْقَ رَأْسِى خُبْزًا تَأْكُلُ ٱلطَّيْرُ مِنْهُ نَبِّئْنَا بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦٓ إِنَّا نَرَىٰكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
And two youths entered the prison along with him. One of them said, “Indeed, I see myself pressing wine,” and the other said, “Indeed, I see myself carrying bread upon my head, from which the birds are eating. Inform us of its outcome, for we surely see you as being among the doers of good.”
Research verse 12:36 →
قَالَ لَا يَأْتِيكُمَا طَعَامٌ تُرْزَقَانِهِۦٓ إِلَّا نَبَّأْتُكُمَا بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمَا ذَٰلِكُمَا مِمَّا عَلَّمَنِى رَبِّىٓ إِنِّى تَرَكْتُ مِلَّةَ قَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَهُم بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ هُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ
He said, “No food that you are provided with will come to you but that I will inform you of its outcome before it comes to you. That is from what my Lord has taught me. Indeed, I have left the creed of a people who do not trust in Allah, and as for the Hereafter, they are deniers.”
Research verse 12:37 →
وَٱتَّبَعْتُ مِلَّةَ ءَابَآءِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ مَا كَانَ لَنَآ أَن نُّشْرِكَ بِٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍ ذَٰلِكَ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ
And I have followed the creed of my forefathers—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: it was not for us to join anything with Allah. That is from the bounty of Allah upon us and upon the people, but most of the people do not show gratitude.
Research verse 12:38 →
يَٰصَٰحِبَىِ ٱلسِّجْنِ ءَأَرْبَابٌ مُّتَفَرِّقُونَ خَيْرٌ أَمِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّارُ
O my two companions of the prison, are divided masters better, or Allah, the One, the All‑subduing?
Research verse 12:39 →
مَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءً سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَٰنٍ إِنِ ٱلْحُكْمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ أَمَرَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلْقَيِّمُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
You do not serve, apart from Him, except names which you and your fathers have named; Allah has not sent down any authority for them. The judgment is only for Allah. He has commanded that you serve none but Him. That is the upright religion, but most of the people do not know.
Research verse 12:40 →
يَٰصَٰحِبَىِ ٱلسِّجْنِ أَمَّآ أَحَدُكُمَا فَيَسْقِى رَبَّهُۥ خَمْرًا وَأَمَّا ٱلْـَٔاخَرُ فَيُصْلَبُ فَتَأْكُلُ ٱلطَّيْرُ مِن رَّأْسِهِۦ قُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ تَسْتَفْتِيَانِ
O my two companions of the prison, as for one of you, he will give his lord to drink wine; and as for the other, he will be crucified, so the birds will eat from his head. The matter about which you two are seeking a ruling has been decided.
Research verse 12:41 →
وَقَالَ لِلَّذِى ظَنَّ أَنَّهُۥ نَاجٍ مِّنْهُمَا ٱذْكُرْنِى عِندَ رَبِّكَ فَأَنسَىٰهُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ ذِكْرَ رَبِّهِۦ فَلَبِثَ فِى ٱلسِّجْنِ بِضْعَ سِنِينَ
And he said to the one whom he was convinced would be delivered from the two, “Mention me in the presence of your lord.” But Satan made him forget the mention of his lord, so he remained in the prison for a few years.
Research verse 12:42 →
وَقَالَ ٱلْمَلِكُ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ سَبْعَ بَقَرَٰتٍ سِمَانٍ يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عِجَافٌ وَسَبْعَ سُنۢبُلَٰتٍ خُضْرٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَٰتٍ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَأُ أَفْتُونِى فِى رُءْيَٰىَ إِن كُنتُمْ لِلرُّءْيَا تَعْبُرُونَ
And the king said, “Indeed I see seven fat cows being eaten by seven lean ones, and seven green ears (of grain) and others dry. O assembly of notables, give me a ruling concerning my vision, if you are those who cross through visions (to their outcome).”
Research verse 12:43 →
قَالُوٓا۟ أَضْغَٰثُ أَحْلَٰمٍ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِتَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحْلَٰمِ بِعَٰلِمِينَ
They said, “Jumbles of dreams, and we are not knowledgeable in the outcome of dreams.”
Research verse 12:44 →
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِى نَجَا مِنْهُمَا وَٱدَّكَرَ بَعْدَ أُمَّةٍ أَنَا۠ أُنَبِّئُكُم بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦ فَأَرْسِلُونِ
Then the one who had escaped from the two of them said, and he remembered after a span: “I will surely inform you of its outcome, so send me.”
Research verse 12:45 →
يُوسُفُ أَيُّهَا ٱلصِّدِّيقُ أَفْتِنَا فِى سَبْعِ بَقَرَٰتٍ سِمَانٍ يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عِجَافٌ وَسَبْعِ سُنۢبُلَٰتٍ خُضْرٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَٰتٍ لَّعَلِّىٓ أَرْجِعُ إِلَى ٱلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ
“Yūsuf, O truthful one, give us a ruling concerning seven fat cows which seven lean ones are eating, and seven green ears (of grain) and others dried up, so that I may return to the people, so that they might know.”

قَالَ تَزْرَعُونَ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ دَأَبًا فَمَا حَصَدتُّمْ فَذَرُوهُ فِى سُنۢبُلِهِۦٓ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِّمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ
He said, “You will sow for seven years, persistently; then whatever you harvest, leave it in its ear, except for a little from which you eat.”
Research verse 12:47 →
ثُمَّ يَأْتِى مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ سَبْعٌ شِدَادٌ يَأْكُلْنَ مَا قَدَّمْتُمْ لَهُنَّ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِّمَّا تُحْصِنُونَ
Then after that there will come seven severe (years) that will consume what you have put forward for them, except a little of what you fortify.
Research verse 12:48 →
ثُمَّ يَأْتِى مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ عَامٌ فِيهِ يُغَاثُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَفِيهِ يَعْصِرُونَ
Then after that there will come a year in which the people are given relief, and in it they press (out) [their produce].
Research verse 12:49 →
وَقَالَ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱئْتُونِى بِهِۦ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُ ٱلرَّسُولُ قَالَ ٱرْجِعْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَسْـَٔلْهُ مَا بَالُ ٱلنِّسْوَةِ ٱلَّٰتِى قَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ إِنَّ رَبِّى بِكَيْدِهِنَّ عَلِيمٌ
And the king said, “Bring him to me.” Then when the messenger came to him, he said, “Return to your lord and ask him: What is the state of the women who cut their hands? Indeed, my Lord is Knowing of their scheming.”
Research verse 12:50 →
قَالَ مَا خَطْبُكُنَّ إِذْ رَٰوَدتُّنَّ يُوسُفَ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ قُلْنَ حَٰشَ لِلَّهِ مَا عَلِمْنَا عَلَيْهِ مِن سُوٓءٍ قَالَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْـَٰٔنَ حَصْحَصَ ٱلْحَقُّ أَنَا۠ رَٰوَدتُّهُۥ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
He said, “What is your situation when you tried to coax Joseph away from his self?” They said, “Far be it for God! We have not known of any badness against him.” The wife of the mighty one said, “Now the truth has come out: it was I who tried to coax him away from his self, and indeed he is surely among the truthful.”
Research verse 12:51 →
ذَٰلِكَ لِيَعْلَمَ أَنِّى لَمْ أَخُنْهُ بِٱلْغَيْبِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى كَيْدَ ٱلْخَآئِنِينَ
That is so that he may know that I did not betray him in what was hidden, and that Allah does not guide the scheme of the betrayers.
Research verse 12:52 →
وَمَآ أُبَرِّئُ نَفْسِىٓ إِنَّ ٱلنَّفْسَ لَأَمَّارَةٌۢ بِٱلسُّوٓءِ إِلَّا مَا رَحِمَ رَبِّىٓ إِنَّ رَبِّى غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
And I do not declare my self free of fault; indeed, the self certainly commands to badness, except as my Lord shows mercy. Indeed, my Lord is Ever-Covering (of faults), Ever-Merciful.
Research verse 12:53 →
وَقَالَ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱئْتُونِى بِهِۦٓ أَسْتَخْلِصْهُ لِنَفْسِى فَلَمَّا كَلَّمَهُۥ قَالَ إِنَّكَ ٱلْيَوْمَ لَدَيْنَا مَكِينٌ أَمِينٌ
And the king said, “Bring him to me; I will single him out for myself.” So when he spoke with him, he said, “Indeed, today you are, with us, one firmly established and trustworthy.”
Research verse 12:54 →
قَالَ ٱجْعَلْنِى عَلَىٰ خَزَآئِنِ ٱلْأَرْضِ إِنِّى حَفِيظٌ عَلِيمٌ
He said, “Place me in charge of the treasuries of the land; indeed, I am a careful guardian, knowledgeable.”
Research verse 12:55 →
وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَتَبَوَّأُ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ يَشَآءُ نُصِيبُ بِرَحْمَتِنَا مَن نَّشَآءُ وَلَا نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
And thus We established Joseph in the land, so that he could settle in it wherever he wished. We apportion, with Our mercy, whom We wish, and We do not let the reward of the doers of good go to waste.
Research verse 12:56 →
وَلَأَجْرُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ
And surely the reward of the later [life] is better for those who have believed and used to be mindful [to protect themselves].
Research verse 12:57 →
وَجَآءَ إِخْوَةُ يُوسُفَ فَدَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَعَرَفَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ
And the brothers of Joseph came, and so they entered upon him, and he recognized them while they were disacknowledging him.
Research verse 12:58 →
وَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُم بِجَهَازِهِمْ قَالَ ٱئْتُونِى بِأَخٍ لَّكُم مِّنْ أَبِيكُمْ أَلَا تَرَوْنَ أَنِّىٓ أُوفِى ٱلْكَيْلَ وَأَنَا۠ خَيْرُ ٱلْمُنزِلِينَ
And when he had equipped them with their provision, he said, “Bring me a brother of yours from your father. Do you not see that I give full measure, and that I am the best of hosts?”
Research verse 12:59 →
فَإِن لَّمْ تَأْتُونِى بِهِۦ فَلَا كَيْلَ لَكُمْ عِندِى وَلَا تَقْرَبُونِ
Then if you do not bring him to me, there will be no measure for you with me, and you shall not come near.
Research verse 12:60 →
قَالُوا۟ سَنُرَٰوِدُ عَنْهُ أَبَاهُ وَإِنَّا لَفَٰعِلُونَ
They said, “We will certainly try to win his father away from him, and indeed, we are surely doers.”
Research verse 12:61 →
وَقَالَ لِفِتْيَٰنِهِ ٱجْعَلُوا۟ بِضَٰعَتَهُمْ فِى رِحَالِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْرِفُونَهَآ إِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
And he said to his youths, “Place their merchandise in their baggage, so that they might recognize it when they return to their people, and so that they might come back.”
Research verse 12:62 →
فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِيهِمْ قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَبَانَا مُنِعَ مِنَّا ٱلْكَيْلُ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَآ أَخَانَا نَكْتَلْ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ
Then when they returned to their father, they said, “Our father, the measure has been withheld from us, so send our brother with us so that we may receive measure, and indeed, we will surely be guardians over him.”
Research verse 12:63 →
قَالَ هَلْ ءَامَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا كَمَآ أَمِنتُكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَخِيهِ مِن قَبْلُ فَٱللَّهُ خَيْرٌ حَٰفِظًا وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
He said, “Shall I feel secure with you regarding him, except as I felt secure with you regarding his brother before? So Allah is better as a keeper, and He is the most merciful of the merciful.”
Research verse 12:64 →
وَلَمَّا فَتَحُوا۟ مَتَٰعَهُمْ وَجَدُوا۟ بِضَٰعَتَهُمْ رُدَّتْ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَبَانَا مَا نَبْغِى هَٰذِهِۦ بِضَٰعَتُنَا رُدَّتْ إِلَيْنَا وَنَمِيرُ أَهْلَنَا وَنَحْفَظُ أَخَانَا وَنَزْدَادُ كَيْلَ بَعِيرٍ ذَٰلِكَ كَيْلٌ يَسِيرٌ
And when they opened their goods, they found their merchandise returned to them. They said, “Our father, what do we seek? This is our merchandise returned to us. We will provision our people, and we will safeguard our brother, and we will gain an increase of a camel’s measure. That is an easy measure.”
Research verse 12:65 →
قَالَ لَنْ أُرْسِلَهُۥ مَعَكُمْ حَتَّىٰ تُؤْتُونِ مَوْثِقًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لَتَأْتُنَّنِى بِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يُحَاطَ بِكُمْ فَلَمَّآ ءَاتَوْهُ مَوْثِقَهُمْ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌ
He said, “I will never send him with you until you give me a binding pledge from Allah that you will surely bring him back to me, unless you are encompassed. Then when they had given him their pledge, he said, ‘Allah is a trustee over what we say.’”
Research verse 12:66 →
وَقَالَ يَٰبَنِىَّ لَا تَدْخُلُوا۟ مِنۢ بَابٍ وَٰحِدٍ وَٱدْخُلُوا۟ مِنْ أَبْوَٰبٍ مُّتَفَرِّقَةٍ وَمَآ أُغْنِى عَنكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍ إِنِ ٱلْحُكْمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَعَلَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ
And he said, “My sons, do not enter through one gate; rather enter through separate gates. But I do not avail you, against Allah, in anything. The judgment is only for Allah. Upon Him I have relied, and upon Him let those who rely place their reliance.”
Research verse 12:67 →
وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا۟ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَهُمْ أَبُوهُم مَّا كَانَ يُغْنِى عَنْهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا حَاجَةً فِى نَفْسِ يَعْقُوبَ قَضَىٰهَا وَإِنَّهُۥ لَذُو عِلْمٍ لِّمَا عَلَّمْنَٰهُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
And when they entered from where their father had instructed them, it did not spare them from Allah in any way—except [that it fulfilled] a need within Jacob’s self which he carried out. And indeed, he was surely one endowed with knowledge because of what We had taught him, but most people do not know.
Research verse 12:68 →
وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ ءَاوَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِ أَخَاهُ قَالَ إِنِّىٓ أَنَا۠ أَخُوكَ فَلَا تَبْتَئِسْ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
And when they entered upon Joseph, he sheltered his brother close to himself; he said, “Indeed, I am your brother, so do not be distressed by what they used to do.”
Research verse 12:69 →
فَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُم بِجَهَازِهِمْ جَعَلَ ٱلسِّقَايَةَ فِى رَحْلِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ أَيَّتُهَا ٱلْعِيرُ إِنَّكُمْ لَسَٰرِقُونَ
So when he had equipped them with their equipment, he placed the drinking-vessel in his brother’s baggage. Then a caller proclaimed, “O caravan, you are surely thieves.”
Research verse 12:70 →
قَالُوا۟ وَأَقْبَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِم مَّاذَا تَفْقِدُونَ
They said, and turned toward them, “What is it that you are missing?”
Research verse 12:71 →
قَالُوا۟ نَفْقِدُ صُوَاعَ ٱلْمَلِكِ وَلِمَن جَآءَ بِهِۦ حِمْلُ بَعِيرٍ وَأَنَا۠ بِهِۦ زَعِيمٌ
They said, “We are missing the king’s measuring-cup, and whoever brings it will have a camel-load [as reward], and I am its guarantor.”
Research verse 12:72 →
قَالُوا۟ تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُم مَّا جِئْنَا لِنُفْسِدَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا كُنَّا سَٰرِقِينَ
They said, “By Allah, you have indeed known that we did not come to cause ruin in the land, and we have never been thieves.”
Research verse 12:73 →
قَالُوا۟ فَمَا جَزَٰٓؤُهُۥٓ إِن كُنتُمْ كَٰذِبِينَ
They said, “So what is its recompense, if you are liars?”
Research verse 12:74 →
قَالُوا۟ جَزَٰٓؤُهُۥ مَن وُجِدَ فِى رَحْلِهِۦ فَهُوَ جَزَٰٓؤُهُۥ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
They said, “Its due recompense is: whoever it is found in his baggage, then he himself is its recompense. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.”
Research verse 12:75 →
فَبَدَأَ بِأَوْعِيَتِهِمْ قَبْلَ وِعَآءِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَخْرَجَهَا مِن وِعَآءِ أَخِيهِ كَذَٰلِكَ كِدْنَا لِيُوسُفَ مَا كَانَ لِيَأْخُذَ أَخَاهُ فِى دِينِ ٱلْمَلِكِ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَٰتٍ مَّن نَّشَآءُ وَفَوْقَ كُلِّ ذِى عِلْمٍ عَلِيمٌ
So he began with their containers before [searching] the container of his brother; then he brought it out from the container of his brother. Thus We contrived for Joseph. He was not to take his brother under the system of the king, except that Allah willed. We raise in ranks whom We will, and above every possessor of knowledge is One who is all‑knowing.
Research verse 12:76 →
قَالُوٓا۟ إِن يَسْرِقْ فَقَدْ سَرَقَ أَخٌ لَّهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ فَأَسَرَّهَا يُوسُفُ فِى نَفْسِهِۦ وَلَمْ يُبْدِهَا لَهُمْ قَالَ أَنتُمْ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَصِفُونَ
They said, “If he steals, then a brother of his did steal before.” So Joseph concealed it within himself and did not disclose it to them. He said, “You are worse in standing, and Allah is most knowing of what you describe.”
Research verse 12:77 →
قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ إِنَّ لَهُۥٓ أَبًا شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا فَخُذْ أَحَدَنَا مَكَانَهُۥٓ إِنَّا نَرَىٰكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
They said, “O mighty one, indeed he has a father, an elderly old man, so take one of us in his place. Indeed, we perceive you to be among those who excel in doing good.”
Research verse 12:78 →
قَالَ مَعَاذَ ٱللَّهِ أَن نَّأْخُذَ إِلَّا مَن وَجَدْنَا مَتَٰعَنَا عِندَهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّظَٰلِمُونَ
He said, “Refuge in Allah: that we take [anyone] except the one with whom we found our goods — indeed, we would then surely be wrongdoers.”
Research verse 12:79 →
فَلَمَّا ٱسْتَيْـَٔسُوا۟ مِنْهُ خَلَصُوا۟ نَجِيًّا قَالَ كَبِيرُهُمْ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ أَبَاكُمْ قَدْ أَخَذَ عَلَيْكُم مَّوْثِقًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَمِن قَبْلُ مَا فَرَّطتُمْ فِى يُوسُفَ فَلَنْ أَبْرَحَ ٱلْأَرْضَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْذَنَ لِىٓ أَبِىٓ أَوْ يَحْكُمَ ٱللَّهُ لِى وَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلْحَٰكِمِينَ
Then when they had despaired of him, they withdrew, in secluded counsel. The eldest of them said, “Do you not know that your father has indeed taken from you a binding pledge by Allah, and that before this you fell short regarding Joseph? So I will not depart from this land until my father permits me, or Allah decides for me; and He is the best of deciders.”
Research verse 12:80 →
ٱرْجِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِيكُمْ فَقُولُوا۟ يَٰٓأَبَانَآ إِنَّ ٱبْنَكَ سَرَقَ وَمَا شَهِدْنَآ إِلَّا بِمَا عَلِمْنَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِلْغَيْبِ حَٰفِظِينَ
Return to your father and say, “O our father, indeed your son has stolen, and we did not bear witness except according to what we knew, and we were not guardians over what was unseen.”
Research verse 12:81 →
وَسْـَٔلِ ٱلْقَرْيَةَ ٱلَّتِى كُنَّا فِيهَا وَٱلْعِيرَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَقْبَلْنَا فِيهَا وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ
And ask the town in which we were, and the caravan with which we came, and indeed we are surely truthful.
Research verse 12:82 →
قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ عَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَأْتِيَنِى بِهِمْ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
He said, "No, rather your own selves have made this matter seem easy for you. So [my stance is] fine endurance. It may be that Allah will bring them all to me together. Indeed, it is He—He alone—who is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise."
Research verse 12:83 →
وَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَٰٓأَسَفَىٰ عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ وَٱبْيَضَّتْ عَيْنَاهُ مِنَ ٱلْحُزْنِ فَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ
So he turned away from them and said, “O my sorrow over Joseph!” and his eyes turned white from grief, so he was one who suppresses (it).
Research verse 12:84 →
قَالُوا۟ تَٱللَّهِ تَفْتَؤُا۟ تَذْكُرُ يُوسُفَ حَتَّىٰ تَكُونَ حَرَضًا أَوْ تَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْهَٰلِكِينَ
They said, “By Allah, you will not stop remembering Joseph until you become worn‑out (ruined in yourself), or you become among those who perish.”
Research verse 12:85 →
قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أَشْكُوا۟ بَثِّى وَحُزْنِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
He said, “I only lay bare my outpouring and my sorrow to Allah, and I know from Allah what you do not know.”
Research verse 12:86 →
يَٰبَنِىَّ ٱذْهَبُوا۟ فَتَحَسَّسُوا۟ مِن يُوسُفَ وَأَخِيهِ وَلَا تَا۟يْـَٔسُوا۟ مِن رَّوْحِ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يَا۟يْـَٔسُ مِن رَّوْحِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلْقَوْمُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
O my sons, go and then seek out [information] about Joseph and his brother, and do not despair of the relief of Allah; indeed, none despairs of the relief of Allah except a people who are concealers [of the truth].
Research verse 12:87 →
فَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ مَسَّنَا وَأَهْلَنَا ٱلضُّرُّ وَجِئْنَا بِبِضَٰعَةٍ مُّزْجَىٰةٍ فَأَوْفِ لَنَا ٱلْكَيْلَ وَتَصَدَّقْ عَلَيْنَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَجْزِى ٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ
So when they entered upon him, they said, “O mighty one, harm has touched us and our family, and we have come with a meagerly‑pushed merchandise; so give us full measure and show generosity to us. Indeed, Allah recompenses those who show generosity.”
Research verse 12:88 →
قَالَ هَلْ عَلِمْتُم مَّا فَعَلْتُم بِيُوسُفَ وَأَخِيهِ إِذْ أَنتُمْ جَٰهِلُونَ
He said, “Have you come to know what you did with Joseph and his brother, when you were ignorant?”
Research verse 12:89 →
قَالُوٓا۟ أَءِنَّكَ لَأَنتَ يُوسُفُ قَالَ أَنَا۠ يُوسُفُ وَهَٰذَآ أَخِى قَدْ مَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَآ إِنَّهُۥ مَن يَتَّقِ وَيَصْبِرْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
They said, "Is it really you—are you Joseph?" He said, "I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Allah has indeed bestowed (His) favor upon us. Surely, whoever is conscious (of Him) and endures—then indeed Allah does not let go to waste the reward of the doers of good."
Research verse 12:90 →
قَالُوا۟ تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدْ ءَاثَرَكَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَإِن كُنَّا لَخَٰطِـِٔينَ
They said, “By Allah, Allah has indeed given you precedence over us, and surely we have indeed been in error.”
Research verse 12:91 →
قَالَ لَا تَثْرِيبَ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ يَغْفِرُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
He said, “No reproach is upon you today. May Allah cover for you, and He is the most merciful of those who show mercy.”
Research verse 12:92 →
ٱذْهَبُوا۟ بِقَمِيصِى هَٰذَا فَأَلْقُوهُ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِ أَبِى يَأْتِ بَصِيرًا وَأْتُونِى بِأَهْلِكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Go with this shirt of mine, then cast it over my father’s face; he will come [back] seeing. And bring me your people, all together.
Research verse 12:93 →
وَلَمَّا فَصَلَتِ ٱلْعِيرُ قَالَ أَبُوهُمْ إِنِّى لَأَجِدُ رِيحَ يُوسُفَ لَوْلَآ أَن تُفَنِّدُونِ
And when the caravan had set off, their father said, “Indeed I do find the scent of Joseph, were it not that you deem me unsound (in judgment).”
Research verse 12:94 →
قَالُوا۟ تَٱللَّهِ إِنَّكَ لَفِى ضَلَٰلِكَ ٱلْقَدِيمِ
They said, “By Allah, you are indeed in your former misguidance.”
Research verse 12:95 →
فَلَمَّآ أَن جَآءَ ٱلْبَشِيرُ أَلْقَىٰهُ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِۦ فَٱرْتَدَّ بَصِيرًا قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
So when the bringer of good news came and cast it upon his face, he turned back seeing. He said, “Did I not say to you that I know, from Allah, what you do not know?”
Research verse 12:96 →
قَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَبَانَا ٱسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا خَٰطِـِٔينَ
They said, “O our father, seek covering‑forgiveness for us regarding our offenses; indeed, we have been among those who commit wrongdoing in error.”
Research verse 12:97 →
قَالَ سَوْفَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكُمْ رَبِّىٓ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
He said, “I will soon seek covering‑forgiveness for you from my Lord; indeed, it is He — He alone — who is the All‑Covering Forgiver, the Ever‑Merciful.”
Research verse 12:98 →
فَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ ءَاوَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِ أَبَوَيْهِ وَقَالَ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ مِصْرَ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ءَامِنِينَ
Then when they entered upon Joseph, he drew his two parents close to him and said, “Enter Egypt, if Allah wills, in security.”
Research verse 12:99 →
وَرَفَعَ أَبَوَيْهِ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ وَخَرُّوا۟ لَهُۥ سُجَّدًا وَقَالَ يَٰٓأَبَتِ هَٰذَا تَأْوِيلُ رُءْيَٰىَ مِن قَبْلُ قَدْ جَعَلَهَا رَبِّى حَقًّا وَقَدْ أَحْسَنَ بِىٓ إِذْ أَخْرَجَنِى مِنَ ٱلسِّجْنِ وَجَآءَ بِكُم مِّنَ ٱلْبَدْوِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَن نَّزَغَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَ إِخْوَتِىٓ إِنَّ رَبِّى لَطِيفٌ لِّمَا يَشَآءُ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
And he raised his two parents upon the throne, and they fell down to him, bowing. And he said, “My dear father, this is the outcome of my earlier vision; my Lord has indeed made it true. And He has done good to me when He brought me out of the prison and brought you from the open desert after Satan had stirred (discord) between me and my brothers. Indeed, my Lord is Gentle with regard to what He wills; indeed, it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise.”
Research verse 12:100 →
رَبِّ قَدْ ءَاتَيْتَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُلْكِ وَعَلَّمْتَنِى مِن تَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحَادِيثِ فَاطِرَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أَنتَ وَلِىِّۦ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ تَوَفَّنِى مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
My Lord, You have indeed given me of the dominion and taught me of the outcome/realization of the events. Originator of the heavens and the earth, You are my ally in this world and the Hereafter. Take me in full as one in willing submission, and join me with the righteous.
Research verse 12:101 →
ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ أَنۢبَآءِ ٱلْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهِ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ أَجْمَعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَمْكُرُونَ
That is from the reports of the hidden realm which We reveal to you; and you were not with them when they resolved their affair while they were scheming.
Research verse 12:102 →
وَمَآ أَكْثَرُ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
Yet most of the people will not be believers, even if you are keenly eager.
Research verse 12:103 →
وَمَا تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ
And you do not ask them for any compensation for it; it is nothing but a reminder for all communities.
Research verse 12:104 →
وَكَأَيِّن مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ يَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهَا وَهُمْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضُونَ
And how many a sign there is in the heavens and the earth that they pass by, while they are turning away from it.
Research verse 12:105 →
وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُم بِٱللَّهِ إِلَّا وَهُم مُّشْرِكُونَ
And most of them do not trust in God except while they are joiners (of others with Him).
Research verse 12:106 →
أَفَأَمِنُوٓا۟ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ غَٰشِيَةٌ مِّنْ عَذَابِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْ تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
So have they then felt secure that a covering (event) from the punishment of God will come upon them, or that the Hour will come upon them suddenly while they are not aware?
Research verse 12:107 →
قُلْ هَٰذِهِۦ سَبِيلِىٓ أَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا۠ وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَنِى وَسُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
Say, “This is my path: I call to Allah upon clear discernment—I and whoever follows me. And Allah is far above [what they ascribe]; and I am not of those who join [others] as partners.”
Research verse 12:108 →
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَلَدَارُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
And We did not send before you except men to whom We transmit inspiration, from among the people of the settled towns. Have they then not journeyed through the land so they look at how was the outcome of those before them? And the abode of the later (life) is better for those who are conscious of protection; will you then not use your reason?
Research verse 12:109 →
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا ٱسْتَيْـَٔسَ ٱلرُّسُلُ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا۟ جَآءَهُمْ نَصْرُنَا فَنُجِّىَ مَن نَّشَآءُ وَلَا يُرَدُّ بَأْسُنَا عَنِ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
Until, when the messengers despaired and thought that they had indeed been denied, Our help came to them; then whoever We will is delivered, and Our might cannot be turned back from the criminal people.
Research verse 12:110 →
لَقَدْ كَانَ فِى قَصَصِهِمْ عِبْرَةٌ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ مَا كَانَ حَدِيثًا يُفْتَرَىٰ وَلَٰكِن تَصْدِيقَ ٱلَّذِى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَتَفْصِيلَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Indeed, there has surely been, in their accounts, a crossing‑lesson for possessors of cores (of understanding). It was not a narration to be fabricated, but rather a verification of what is between his hands, and a detailing of every thing, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who are secure (in faith).
