هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَٰشِيَةِ
Has the account of the Enveloping [event] come to you?
Research verse 88:1 →
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ
Faces, on that Day, will be downcast.
Research verse 88:2 →
عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ
laboring, wearied
Research verse 88:3 →
تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً
It will be exposed to an intensely hot fire.
Research verse 88:4 →
تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ
It is given drink from a scalding spring.
Research verse 88:5 →
لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ
They have no food except from ḍarīʿ.
Research verse 88:6 →
لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ
It neither makes [one] fat nor suffices against hunger.
Research verse 88:7 →
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ
Faces, on that Day, will be in ease.
Research verse 88:8 →
لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
Pleased with its striving.
Research verse 88:9 →
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
In a lofty garden,
Research verse 88:10 →
لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةً
You will not hear in it any vain talk.
Research verse 88:11 →
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ
Within it is a spring that flows.
Research verse 88:12 →
فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ
Within it are elevated couches.
Research verse 88:13 →
وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ
And goblets set in place,
Research verse 88:14 →
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ
And cushions arranged in rows
Research verse 88:15 →
وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ
and rugs spread out.
Research verse 88:16 →
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
So do they not look attentively at the camels, how they have been created?
Research verse 88:17 →
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
And to the sky – how it has been raised!
Research verse 88:18 →
وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ
And to the mountains – how they have been set up.
Research verse 88:19 →
وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ
And at the earth – how it has been spread out flat.
Research verse 88:20 →
فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ
So remind; you are only a reminder-bringer.
Research verse 88:21 →
لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ
You are not a dominator over them.
Research verse 88:22 →
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
Except whoever turns away and covers [the truth].
Research verse 88:23 →
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ
Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment.
Research verse 88:24 →
إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ
Indeed, to Us is their coming back.
Research verse 88:25 →
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم
Then, indeed, upon Us is their reckoning.
