وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ
By the sky, possessor of the constellations
Research verse 85:1 →
وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ
And by the promised Day,
Research verse 85:2 →
وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ
And by a witness and what is witnessed,
Research verse 85:3 →
قُتِلَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ
Ruined are the companions of the trench,
Research verse 85:4 →
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ
the fire possessing fuel
Research verse 85:5 →
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ
when they were seated over it,
Research verse 85:6 →
وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ
and they, over what they are doing to the believers, are observers.
Research verse 85:7 →
وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ
And they took no offense at them except that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.
Research verse 85:8 →
ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
The One to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is, over every thing, a Witness.
Research verse 85:9 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ
Indeed, those who put the believing men and the believing women to trial, then did not turn back, for them is the punishment of Jahannam, and for them is the punishment of the Blaze.
Research verse 85:10 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ
Indeed, those who have attained trust/security and have done sound/wholesome deeds—for them are gardens, rivers flowing from beneath them. That is the great success.
Research verse 85:11 →
إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
Indeed, the seizing of your Lord is surely intense.
Research verse 85:12 →
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
Indeed, it is He who initiates and brings back.
Research verse 85:13 →
وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ
And He is the Forgiving, the Loving.
Research verse 85:14 →
ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ
Possessor of the Throne, the eminent.
Research verse 85:15 →
فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ
Ever‑doing of whatever He wills.
Research verse 85:16 →
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ
Has the account of the forces come to you—
Research verse 85:17 →
فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ
[Of] Pharaoh and Thamud,
Research verse 85:18 →
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ
Rather, those who have covered [the truth] are in denial.
Research verse 85:19 →
وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ
while Allah is all‑encompassing beyond them.
Research verse 85:20 →
بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ
Rather, it is a glorious Recital.
Research verse 85:21 →
فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ
in a safeguarded tablet.
