إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتْ
When the sky is split apart
Research verse 84:1 →
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
and has listened to its Lord and it was truly due.
Research verse 84:2 →
وَإِذَا ٱلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ
And when the earth is stretched out
Research verse 84:3 →
وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ
and it has cast out whatever is within it and emptied itself
Research verse 84:4 →
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
and has listened to its Lord and it has been truly due.
Research verse 84:5 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ
O human being, indeed you are toiling toward your Lord with toil, so you will meet Him.
Research verse 84:6 →
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ
So as for whoever is given his written record in his right hand,
Research verse 84:7 →
فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا
then he will soon be called to account with an easy accounting
Research verse 84:8 →
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا
and he will turn back to his people, delighted.
Research verse 84:9 →
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ
But as for he who is given his written record from behind his back,
Research verse 84:10 →
فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًا
then he will soon call out for ruin.
Research verse 84:11 →
وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا
and he will be scorched by a blazing fire.
Research verse 84:12 →
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا
Indeed, he had been, among his people, delighted.
Research verse 84:13 →
إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
Indeed, he supposed that he would never return.
Research verse 84:14 →
بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًا
Yes indeed! His Lord has always been seeing him.
Research verse 84:15 →
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ
So no, I swear by the shafaq.
Research verse 84:16 →
وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ
and by the night and what it gathers in
Research verse 84:17 →
وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ
And by the moon when it is fully joined together,
Research verse 84:18 →
لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ
You will surely ride layer upon layer.
Research verse 84:19 →
فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
So what is [wrong] with them that they do not believe?
Research verse 84:20 →
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ
And when the Qur’an is recited upon them, they do not prostrate.
Research verse 84:21 →
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ
Rather, those who have covered [the truth] are denying.
Research verse 84:22 →
وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ
And Allah is most knowing of what they store up.
Research verse 84:23 →
فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
So announce to them a painful punishment.
Research verse 84:24 →
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ
except those who have believed and done the sound deeds; for them there is a reward not cut off.
Research verse 84:25 →
