وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ
Ruin is for the diminishers,
Research verse 83:1 →
ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ
Those who, when they take by measure from the people, exact in full,
Research verse 83:2 →
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ
And when they measure out for them or weigh for them, they make [them] lose.
Research verse 83:3 →
أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ
Do those ones not assume that they are to be raised up,
Research verse 83:4 →
لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
for a tremendous Day,
Research verse 83:5 →
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
The Day when the people rise for the Lord of all the worlds.
Research verse 83:6 →
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ
No indeed! The written record of the wicked is surely in sijjīn.
Research verse 83:7 →
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ
And what has made you understand what sijjīn is?
Research verse 83:8 →
كِتَٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
A written record, inscribed.
Research verse 83:9 →
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Ruin, on that Day, is for the deniers,
Research verse 83:10 →
ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
Those who deny the Day of Judgment.
Research verse 83:11 →
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
And none denies it except every transgressing sinner.
Research verse 83:12 →
إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
When Our signs are recited to him, he says, “Writings of the former ones.”
Research verse 83:13 →
كَلَّا بَلْ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
No indeed! Rather, what they used to earn has encrusted upon their hearts.
Research verse 83:14 →
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ
No indeed! They will, on that Day, surely be screened away from their Lord.
Research verse 83:15 →
ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Then indeed, they will surely be scorched by the Blaze.
Research verse 83:16 →
ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
Then it will be said, “This is what you used to deny.”
Research verse 83:17 →
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ
No indeed! The record of the devotedly pure is surely in the highest elevations.
Research verse 83:18 →
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
And what could make you realize what ʿIlliyyūn is?
Research verse 83:19 →
كِتَٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ
A written record, inscribed.
Research verse 83:20 →
يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
attended by those brought near.
Research verse 83:21 →
إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ
Indeed, the devotedly good are surely in bliss.
Research verse 83:22 →
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
Upon the couches, they are looking.
Research verse 83:23 →
تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
You recognize in their faces the freshness of bliss.
Research verse 83:24 →
يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ
They are given to drink from a sealed nectar.
Research verse 83:25 →
خِتَٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَٰفِسُونَ
Its sealing is of musk; and in that, let those who strive, strive.
Research verse 83:26 →
وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ
And its mixture is from Tasneem,
Research verse 83:27 →
عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
A spring from which those brought near drink.
Research verse 83:28 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ
Indeed, those who committed crime used to laugh at those who had believed.
Research verse 83:29 →
وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
And when they pass by them, they signal to one another with glances.
Research verse 83:30 →
وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ
And when they turned back to their people, they would turn back indulging themselves.
Research verse 83:31 →
وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
And when they see them, they say, “Indeed, these are surely astray.”
Research verse 83:32 →
وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَٰفِظِينَ
And they were not sent over them as keepers.
Research verse 83:33 →
فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ
So today, those who have believed are laughing at the deniers,
Research verse 83:34 →
عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
Upon the couches, they are looking.
Research verse 83:35 →
هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
Have the deniers been requited for what they used to do?
Research verse 83:36 →
