عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
About what are they asking one another?
Research verse 78:1 →
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
About the tremendous announcement.
Research verse 78:2 →
ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
the one in which they are differing
Research verse 78:3 →
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
No indeed, they will soon know.
Research verse 78:4 →
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
Then no indeed, they will surely know.
Research verse 78:5 →
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَٰدًا
Have We not made the earth a cradle?
Research verse 78:6 →
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
and the mountains as pegs
Research verse 78:7 →
وَخَلَقْنَٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا
And We created you as pairs
Research verse 78:8 →
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
And We made your sleep a cutting-off (from activity).
Research verse 78:9 →
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
and We made the night as a covering
Research verse 78:10 →
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
and We made the day [a time] for living
Research verse 78:11 →
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
And We built above you seven mighty [ones].

وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
and We made a blazing lamp
Research verse 78:13 →
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا
and We sent down, from the ones in a state of pressing, water in gushing abundance
Research verse 78:14 →
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
so that We may bring out by it grain and vegetation,
Research verse 78:15 →
وَجَنَّٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا
and gardens, densely intertwined.
Research verse 78:16 →
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتًا
Indeed, the Day of Separation has been an appointed time.
Research verse 78:17 →
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
The Day the trumpet is blown, then you will come in groups.
Research verse 78:18 →
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا
And the sky will be opened, so it will become gateways.
Research verse 78:19 →
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
And the mountains are set in motion, so they become like a mirage.
Research verse 78:20 →
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
Indeed, Hell has been a place of watch.
Research verse 78:21 →
لِّلطَّٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا
For the overstepping ones, a place of return.
Research verse 78:22 →
لَّٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا
Remaining therein for long epochs.
Research verse 78:23 →
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
They will not taste in it any coolness nor any drink,
Research verse 78:24 →
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
except boiling hot water and intensely cold fluid,
Research verse 78:25 →
جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا
A recompense in full accord.
Research verse 78:26 →
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
Indeed, they had not been hoping for an account.
Research verse 78:27 →
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا
and they denied Our signs with utter falsehood.
Research verse 78:28 →
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَٰهُ كِتَٰبًا
And every thing We have enumerated as a written record.
Research verse 78:29 →
فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
So taste, for We will not increase you in anything but punishment.
Research verse 78:30 →
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
Indeed, for the God-conscious there is a place of success,
Research verse 78:31 →
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَٰبًا
Gardens and grapevines
Research verse 78:32 →
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
And youthful ones, all of the same age,
Research verse 78:33 →
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
and a cup, brimming.
Research verse 78:34 →
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا
They will not hear therein any idle talk, nor [any] emphatic denial.
Research verse 78:35 →
جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا
A recompense from your Lord, a gift in full measure.
Research verse 78:36 →
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the All-Merciful — they do not possess any address (toward Him).
Research verse 78:37 →
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
The Day the Spirit and the angels stand in ranks; they do not speak, except one to whom the All-Merciful has given leave, and he speaks soundly.
Research verse 78:38 →
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
That is the true Day. So whoever wills may take to his Lord a place of return.
Research verse 78:39 →
إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
Indeed, We have warned you of a punishment that is near, on the Day when the human will look at what his two hands have sent ahead, and the one who covered [the truth] will say, “If only I had been dust!”
