يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُزَّمِّلُ
O you who are wrapped up,
Research verse 73:1 →
قُمِ ٱلَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
Stand [for] the night, except a little,
Research verse 73:2 →
نِّصْفَهُۥٓ أَوِ ٱنقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا
[Stand] half of it, or reduce from it a little,
Research verse 73:3 →
أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا
Or add to it, and articulate the Qur’an in a distinctly ordered manner.
Research verse 73:4 →
إِنَّا سَنُلْقِى عَلَيْكَ قَوْلًا ثَقِيلًا
Indeed, We are going to cast upon you a weighty speech.
Research verse 73:5 →
إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ ٱلَّيْلِ هِىَ أَشَدُّ وَطْـًٔا وَأَقْوَمُ قِيلًا
Indeed, the arising of the night is more intense in tread and more upright in speech.
Research verse 73:6 →
إِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ سَبْحًا طَوِيلًا
Indeed, for you in the daytime is extensive movement.
Research verse 73:7 →
وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًا
And remember the name of your Lord, and detach yourself toward Him with thorough detachment.
Research verse 73:8 →
رَّبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًا
Lord of the east and the west—there is no god except Him—so take Him as a trustee.
Research verse 73:9 →
وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًا جَمِيلًا
And endure what they say, and leave them with a fine leaving.
Research verse 73:10 →
وَذَرْنِى وَٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ أُو۟لِى ٱلنَّعْمَةِ وَمَهِّلْهُمْ قَلِيلًا
And leave Me with the deniers, possessors of ease, and grant them a little respite.
Research verse 73:11 →
إِنَّ لَدَيْنَآ أَنكَالًا وَجَحِيمًا
Indeed, with Us are restraints and a blazing Hellfire,
Research verse 73:12 →
وَطَعَامًا ذَا غُصَّةٍ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
and food of choking, and a painful punishment.

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًا مَّهِيلًا
On the Day the earth and the mountains will quake, and the mountains will become a drifting, crumbling sand‑dune.
Research verse 73:14 →
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًا شَٰهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًا
Indeed, We have sent to you a messenger, a witness over you, just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger.
Research verse 73:15 →
فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُ أَخْذًا وَبِيلًا
So Pharaoh defied the messenger, and We took him with a grievous taking.
Research verse 73:16 →
فَكَيْفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِن كَفَرْتُمْ يَوْمًا يَجْعَلُ ٱلْوِلْدَٰنَ شِيبًا
So how will you protect yourselves, if you have denied, from a Day that makes the children grey‑haired?
Research verse 73:17 →
ٱلسَّمَآءُ مُنفَطِرٌۢ بِهِۦ كَانَ وَعْدُهُۥ مَفْعُولًا
The sky is splitting apart because of it; His promise has indeed been carried out.
Research verse 73:18 →
إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦ تَذْكِرَةٌ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ سَبِيلًا
Indeed, this is a reminder; so whoever wills may take a path towards his Lord.
Research verse 73:19 →
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدْنَىٰ مِن ثُلُثَىِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَنِصْفَهُۥ وَثُلُثَهُۥ وَطَآئِفَةٌ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَعَكَ وَٱللَّهُ يُقَدِّرُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ عَلِمَ أَن لَّن تُحْصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ ٱلْقُرْءَانِ عَلِمَ أَن سَيَكُونُ مِنكُم مَّرْضَىٰ وَءَاخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَبْتَغُونَ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ وَءَاخَرُونَ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱقْرَءُوا۟ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَقْرِضُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرًا وَأَعْظَمَ أَجْرًا وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌۢ
Indeed, your Lord knows that you stand (for prayer) somewhat less than two‑thirds of the night, and [sometimes] half of it, and [sometimes] a third of it, and [so does] a group of those who are with you. And Allah measures out the night and the day. He has known that you will never be able to keep count of it, so He has turned back toward you [with lenience]; therefore recite what is easy [for you] of the Recitation. He has known that there will be among you those who are ill, and others striking out in the land, seeking of Allah’s bounty, and others fighting in Allah’s path. So recite what is easy of it, and establish the prayer, and give the zakah, and lend Allah a goodly loan. And whatever good you advance for yourselves, you will find it with Allah — it is better and greater in reward. And seek Allah’s forgiveness; indeed, Allah is All‑Forgiving, Ever‑Merciful.
