إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
Indeed, We sent Noah to his people: “Warn your people before a painful punishment comes to them.”
Research verse 71:1 →
قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ
He said, “My people, indeed I am for you a manifest warner.”
Research verse 71:2 →
أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ
“That: ‘Serve Allah, and be wary of Him, and obey me.’”
Research verse 71:3 →
يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
He will cover for you some of your tails (offences) and defer you to a specified term. Indeed, the term of Allah, when it comes, is not deferred—if only you were knowing.

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِى لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا
He said, “My Lord, indeed I have called my people night and day.”
Research verse 71:5 →
فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِىٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًا
But my calling did not increase them in anything except fleeing.
Research verse 71:6 →
وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓا۟ أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ ٱسْتِكْبَارًا
And whenever I called them so that You might cover for them, they put their fingers into their ears, and they drew their garments over themselves, and they persisted and magnified themselves with great magnifying.
Research verse 71:7 →
ثُمَّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا
Then indeed I called them openly,
Research verse 71:8 →
ثُمَّ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا
Then indeed I made [it] public to them, and I made [it] secret to them, [utterly] in secrecy.
Research verse 71:9 →
فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًا
So I said, “Seek covering‑forgiveness from your Lord; indeed, He has always been an ever‑abundant Coverer‑Forgiver.”
Research verse 71:10 →
يُرْسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا
He sends the sky upon you in abundant pouring.
Research verse 71:11 →
وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَٰرًا
And He will extend you with wealth and sons, and He will set up for you gardens, and He will set up for you rivers.
Research verse 71:12 →
مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا
What is [wrong] with you that you do not expect for Allah any gravity?
Research verse 71:13 →
وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا
while He has created you in successive forms
Research verse 71:14 →
أَلَمْ تَرَوْا۟ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٍ طِبَاقًا
Have you not perceived how Allah created seven skies, one matching another?
Research verse 71:15 →
وَجَعَلَ ٱلْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا
And He made the moon within them a light, and He made the sun a lamp.
Research verse 71:16 →
وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا
And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth, a growth.
Research verse 71:17 →
ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا
Then He returns you into it, and He brings you out with a bringing-out.
Research verse 71:18 →
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا
And Allah has made the earth for you as a spread-out surface,
Research verse 71:19 →
لِّتَسْلُكُوا۟ مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا
so that you may travel through it by ways—broad passages.
Research verse 71:20 →
قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًا
Noah said, “My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed one whose wealth and child has not increased him in anything except loss.”
Research verse 71:21 →
وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا
And they devised a tremendously great scheme.
Research verse 71:22 →
وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا
And they said, “Do not ever leave your gods; and do not ever leave Wadd, nor Suwāʿ, nor Yaghūth, and Yaʿūq, and Nasr.”
Research verse 71:23 →
وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا۟ كَثِيرًا وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلًا
And they have already led many astray, and do not increase the dark‑wrongdoers in anything except sinking‑astray.
Research verse 71:24 →
مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا۟ فَأُدْخِلُوا۟ نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا۟ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارًا
Because of their misdeeds they were drowned, then made to enter a fire, and they did not find for themselves, apart from Allah, any helpers.
Research verse 71:25 →
وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا
And Noah said, “My Lord, do not leave upon the earth, from among the deniers, a single dweller.”
Research verse 71:26 →
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا۟ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا
Indeed, if You leave them, they will cause Your servants to go astray, and they will not beget except one who is a wicked, extreme concealer (of the truth).
Research verse 71:27 →
رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِىَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًۢا
My Lord, cover [with forgiveness] me and my parents, and whoever enters my house as one who is secure in faith, and the secure-in-faith men and the secure-in-faith women; and do not increase the darkeners [of right] except in ruin.
