ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
The Inevitable Truth.
Research verse 69:1 →
مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
What is the Realized Certainty?
Research verse 69:2 →
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
And what has made you realize what the Inevitable Reality is?
Research verse 69:3 →
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
Thamud and Aad cried lies regarding the Striker.
Research verse 69:4 →
فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the transgressing [one].
Research verse 69:5 →
وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ
And as for ʿĀd, they were destroyed by a shrill, overbearing wind.
Research verse 69:6 →
سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍ
He subjected it against them for seven nights and eight days, cutting them off, so you would see the people in it fallen down, as though they were the lower parts of hollowed‑out palm trees.
Research verse 69:7 →
فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍ
So do you see for them any remnant?
Research verse 69:8 →
وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
And Pharaoh came, and those before him, and the overturned communities, with the wrongdoing.
Research verse 69:9 →
فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً
So they defied the messenger of their Lord, and He took them with an overwhelming taking.
Research verse 69:10 →
إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ
Indeed, when the water transgressed, We carried you in the flowing [vessel].
Research verse 69:11 →
لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌ
so that We might make it for you a reminder, and so that a receptive ear may retain it.
Research verse 69:12 →
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ
Then when it is blown in the trumpet with a single blast,
Research verse 69:13 →
وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةً
And the earth and the mountains are carried away, then they are pounded—a single pounding.
Research verse 69:14 →
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
So on that Day, the Event will have fallen (come to pass).
Research verse 69:15 →
وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ
And the sky will split apart, so it is on that Day fragile.
Research verse 69:16 →
وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَٰنِيَةٌ
And the angel is upon its extremities, and the Throne of your Lord, above them that Day, eight will carry.
Research verse 69:17 →
يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ
That Day you will be presented; nothing hidden will remain hidden among you.
Research verse 69:18 →
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَٰبِيَهْ
Then as for whoever is given his record in his right hand, he will say, “Here you are, read my record!”
Research verse 69:19 →
إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ
Indeed, I supposed that I would be meeting my account.
Research verse 69:20 →
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
Then he is in a life of contentment.
Research verse 69:21 →
فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
in a high garden
Research verse 69:22 →
قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ
Its pickable clusters are near at hand.
Research verse 69:23 →
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ
“Eat and drink, pleasantly and without harm, for what you sent ahead in the days gone by.”
Research verse 69:24 →
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَٰبِيَهْ
But as for whoever is given his written record in his left hand, he will say, “If only I had not been given my record!”
Research verse 69:25 →
وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ
and I had not realized what my account was.
Research verse 69:26 →
يَٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ
I wish it had been the ending.
Research verse 69:27 →
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ
My wealth has not benefited me at all.
Research verse 69:28 →
هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَٰنِيَهْ
My authority has perished away from me.
Research verse 69:29 →
خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
“Seize him, then insert him into shackles.”
Research verse 69:30 →
ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
Then expose him to the Blaze.
Research verse 69:31 →
ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ
Then in a chain whose measured length is seventy forearm-lengths, thread him through.
Research verse 69:32 →
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
Indeed, he used to not trust in God, the Magnificent,
Research verse 69:33 →
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
And he did not urge [others] towards the food of the needy.
Research verse 69:34 →
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌ
So he has, today, here, no close companion.
Research verse 69:35 →
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ
And no food, except from ghisleen.
Research verse 69:36 →
لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَٰطِـُٔونَ
None will eat it except the sinners.
Research verse 69:37 →
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
Then no indeed, I swear by what you see,
Research verse 69:38 →
وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
and what you do not perceive,
Research verse 69:39 →
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
Indeed, it is surely the speech of a noble messenger.
Research verse 69:40 →
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ
And it is not the speech of a poet; little is it that you believe.
Research verse 69:41 →
وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
And nor is it the word of a kahin; how little you take heed.
Research verse 69:42 →
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
A sending-down from the Lord of all the realms.
Research verse 69:43 →
وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ
And if he had fabricated against Us some of the statements,
Research verse 69:44 →
لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ
We would certainly have taken him by the right hand,
Research verse 69:45 →
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ
then We would surely have cut his aorta.
Research verse 69:46 →
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَٰجِزِينَ
then there is not, from among you, anyone [who would be] preventing [it] away from him.
Research verse 69:47 →
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
And indeed, it is surely a reminder for those who are mindful (of protection).
Research verse 69:48 →
وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
And indeed, We surely know that among you are deniers.
Research verse 69:49 →
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
And indeed, it is surely a regret upon the concealers (of the truth).
Research verse 69:50 →
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
And indeed, it is the truth of certainty.
Research verse 69:51 →
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
So glorify, by the name of your Lord, the Magnificent.
Research verse 69:52 →
