ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split.
Research verse 54:1 →
وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ
And if they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Persistent magic.”
Research verse 54:2 →
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
And they denied and followed their own desires, while every matter is one that will come to rest.
Research verse 54:3 →
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ
And there has certainly come to them, from the reports, that in which there is a strong restraint.
Research verse 54:4 →
حِكْمَةٌۢ بَٰلِغَةٌ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ
A wisdom reaching [its goal]; yet the warnings do not avail.
Research verse 54:5 →
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍ نُّكُرٍ
So turn away from them, on the Day when the Caller will call to a thing unfamiliar.
Research verse 54:6 →
خُشَّعًا أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ
Their gazes downcast, they are emerging from the graves as if they were a scattered swarm of locusts.
Research verse 54:7 →
مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ
Hastening toward the Caller; the deniers will say, “This is a harsh day.”
Research verse 54:8 →
كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌ وَٱزْدُجِرَ
Before them, the people of Noah cried lies, so they cried lies against Our servant and said, “(He is) possessed,” and he was driven off.
Research verse 54:9 →
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌ فَٱنتَصِرْ
So he called upon his Lord, “I am overpowered, so grant victory.”

فَفَتَحْنَآ أَبْوَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ
So We opened the gates of the sky with a torrent‑pouring water.
Research verse 54:11 →
وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ
And We burst the earth into springs, so the water met together according to a matter that had indeed been determined.
Research verse 54:12 →
وَحَمَلْنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَٰحٍ وَدُسُرٍ
And We carried him upon one possessing planks and pegs.
Research verse 54:13 →
تَجْرِى بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَآءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ
Sailing under Our eyes, as a recompense for one who had been denied.
Research verse 54:14 →
وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَٰهَآ ءَايَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
And We certainly left it as a sign; so is there anyone who will take heed?
Research verse 54:15 →
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
So how was My correction and My warnings?
Research verse 54:16 →
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there anyone who will take heed?
Research verse 54:17 →
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
ʿĀd denied, so how was My punishment and My warnings?
Research verse 54:18 →
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِى يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ
Indeed, We sent upon them a shrilling wind on a day of ominous, relentlessly ongoing [misfortune].
Research verse 54:19 →
تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ
It was tearing the people away, as though they were the lower parts of palm trees torn up from the base.
Research verse 54:20 →
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
So how was My punishment and My warnings?
Research verse 54:21 →
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there anyone who will take heed?
Research verse 54:22 →
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
Thamud denied the warnings.
Research verse 54:23 →
فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّفِى ضَلَٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ
So they said, “Shall we follow a single human from among us? Indeed, we would then surely be in error and in raging turmoil.”
Research verse 54:24 →
أَءُلْقِىَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ
“Has the Reminder been cast upon him from among us? No; rather, he is a compulsive liar, exultant.”
Research verse 54:25 →
سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْأَشِرُ
They will surely know tomorrow who the false, over-exultant one is.
Research verse 54:26 →
إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ
Indeed, We are ones who send the she‑camel as a test for them, so watch them and endure.

وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ
And inform them that the water is an allotted division between them; every drink is one that must be attended.

فَنَادَوْا۟ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ
So they called their companion, and he undertook (the act) and then slaughtered her.
Research verse 54:29 →
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
So how was My chastisement and My warnings?
Research verse 54:30 →
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَٰحِدَةً فَكَانُوا۟ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ
Indeed, We sent upon them a single shout, and so they became like the dry, broken twigs of the enclosure-maker.
Research verse 54:31 →
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there anyone who will take heed?
Research verse 54:32 →
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
The people of Lot cried lies to the warnings.
Research verse 54:33 →
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍ نَّجَّيْنَٰهُم بِسَحَرٍ
Indeed, We sent upon them a stone-hurling blast, except the people of Lot; We delivered them at pre‑dawn.
Research verse 54:34 →
نِّعْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَن شَكَرَ
As a favor from Us. Thus do We recompense whoever is grateful.
Research verse 54:35 →
وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
And he had certainly warned them of Our seizing, but they kept disputing the warnings.
Research verse 54:36 →
وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِۦ فَطَمَسْنَآ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
And they had indeed tried to lure him away from his guests, so We effaced their eyes: “So taste My punishment and My warnings.”
Research verse 54:37 →
وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ
And indeed there reached them, early in the morning, a settled punishment.
Research verse 54:38 →
فَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ
So taste My punishment and My warnings.
Research verse 54:39 →
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there anyone who will take heed?
Research verse 54:40 →
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ
And indeed, warnings came to the people of Pharaoh.
Research verse 54:41 →
كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ
They denied all of Our signs, so We seized them with the seizing of One mighty, fully capable.
Research verse 54:42 →
أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ
Are your deniers better than those ones, or do you have a clearance in the writings?
Research verse 54:43 →
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ
Or do they say, “We are a united force, one that will prevail”?
Research verse 54:44 →
سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ
The assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs.
Research verse 54:45 →
بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ
No; the Hour is their appointed time, and the Hour is more calamitous and more bitter.
Research verse 54:46 →
إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ
Indeed, the criminals are in misguidance and inflamed turmoil.
Research verse 54:47 →
يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا۟ مَسَّ سَقَرَ
The Day they are dragged in the Fire upon their faces: “Taste the touch of Saqar.”
Research verse 54:48 →
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَٰهُ بِقَدَرٍ
Indeed, We have created every thing according to a measured determination.
Research verse 54:49 →
وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٰحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ
And Our affair is nothing but a single [one], like the flicker of the sight.
Research verse 54:50 →
وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
And We have certainly caused your factions to perish; so is there any who will take heed?
Research verse 54:51 →
وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ
And every thing they have done is in the scriptures.
Research verse 54:52 →
وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُّسْتَطَرٌ
And every small and great thing is written in lines.
Research verse 54:53 →
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَنَهَرٍ
Indeed, the ones who are mindful (of God) will be in gardens and a flowing stream.

فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ
in a seat of truthfulness, with a sovereign, all‑able.
