وَٱلطُّورِ
And [by] the Mount
Research verse 52:1 →
وَكِتَٰبٍ مَّسْطُورٍ
And by a book laid out in writing,
Research verse 52:2 →
فِى رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ
in a thin sheet, unrolled
Research verse 52:3 →
وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ
And by the *maʿmūr* House,
Research verse 52:4 →
وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ
And by the elevated roof,
Research verse 52:5 →
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ
And by the sea set ablaze,
Research verse 52:6 →
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٌ
Indeed, the punishment of your Lord is surely to fall (come to pass).
Research verse 52:7 →
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍ
It has no repeller at all.
Research verse 52:8 →
يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًا
On the Day the sky will reel with a reeling,
Research verse 52:9 →
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا
and the mountains will move, moving on.
Research verse 52:10 →
فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
So, ruin on that Day to the deniers,
Research verse 52:11 →
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ
those who are, in plunging [into talk], playing around.
Research verse 52:12 →
يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا
The Day they will be shoved toward the Fire of Hell, a harsh shoving.
Research verse 52:13 →
هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ
This is the Fire which you used to deny.
Research verse 52:14 →
أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
So is this [then] sorcery, or is it that you do not see?
Research verse 52:15 →
ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Roast in it; so whether you endure or do not endure, it is all the same for you. You are only being repaid for what you used to do.
Research verse 52:16 →
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ
Indeed, the ones who are mindful (of protection) will be in gardens and delight.
Research verse 52:17 →
فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
Enjoying themselves in what their Lord has given them, and their Lord has shielded them from the punishment of the Blaze.
Research verse 52:18 →
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Eat and drink, wholesome and unharming, for what you used to do.
Research verse 52:19 →
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ وَزَوَّجْنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
Reclining upon thrones arranged in rows, and We have paired them with companions of pure, striking eyes.
Research verse 52:20 →
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ
And those who believed, and their offspring followed them in faith – We will join their offspring with them, and We will not diminish them in anything of their deeds. Every person is held in pledge for what he has earned.
Research verse 52:21 →
وَأَمْدَدْنَٰهُم بِفَٰكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
And We extended them with fruit and meat, from what they desire.
Research verse 52:22 →
يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَّا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ
They will draw one another into (sharing) a cup therein; no vain talk is in it, nor any causing of sin.
Research verse 52:23 →
وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
And there circulate among them their boys, as though they were concealed pearls.
Research verse 52:24 →
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
And some of them turned toward others, asking one another.
Research verse 52:25 →
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ
They will say, “Indeed, we used to be before, among our people, apprehensive.”
Research verse 52:26 →
فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ
So Allah bestowed (His) favor upon us and shielded us from the punishment of the scorching (blast).
Research verse 52:27 →
إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Indeed, we had previously been calling upon Him; indeed, He is the utterly good, the merciful.
Research verse 52:28 →
فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ
So remind; for by the favor of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer, nor one who is mad.
Research verse 52:29 →
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ
Or do they say, “(He is) a poet; we are waiting for the uncertainty of the destined term (to befall) him”?
Research verse 52:30 →
قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ
Say, “Wait, then indeed I am with you among those who are waiting.”
Research verse 52:31 →
أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَٰمُهُم بِهَٰذَآ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ
Or do their dreams command them to this, or are they a people who exceed all bounds?
Research verse 52:32 →
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Or do they say, “He has fabricated it”? Rather, they do not believe.
Research verse 52:33 →
فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِحَدِيثٍ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَٰدِقِينَ
Then let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful.
Research verse 52:34 →
أَمْ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ
Or were they created from other than anything, or are they the creators?
Research verse 52:35 →
أَمْ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not assured.
Research verse 52:36 →
أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ
Or do they possess the treasuries of your Lord, or are they the all‑dominating controllers?
Research verse 52:37 →
أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
Or do they have a stairway by which they listen? Then let their listener come with a clear authority.
Research verse 52:38 →
أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ
Or does He have the daughters while you have the sons?
Research verse 52:39 →
أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ
Or do you ask them for a wage, so that they are weighed down by a liability?
Research verse 52:40 →
أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
Or is the unseen with them, so they are writing (it)?
Research verse 52:41 →
أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ
Or do they intend a scheme? Then those who have covered [the truth]—they are the ones against whom the scheme is worked.
Research verse 52:42 →
أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
Or do they have a god other than Allah? Highly exalted is Allah above what they join [with Him].
Research verse 52:43 →
وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كِسْفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابٌ مَّرْكُومٌ
And if they were to see a piece from the sky falling, they would say, “A piled‑up cloud.”
Research verse 52:44 →
فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ
So leave them until they encounter their Day in which they will be stunned.
Research verse 52:45 →
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
The Day their plotting will not avail them in the least, nor will they be given help.
Research verse 52:46 →
وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
And indeed, for those who have wronged there is a punishment short of that; but most of them do not know.
Research verse 52:47 →
وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
So endure for the wise judgment of your Lord; for you are indeed under Our eyes. And glorify with the praise of your Lord when you rise.
Research verse 52:48 →
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ
And from the night, then glorify Him, and at the retreating of the stars.
