يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ لِمَ تُحَرِّمُ مَآ أَحَلَّ ٱللَّهُ لَكَ تَبْتَغِى مَرْضَاتَ أَزْوَٰجِكَ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
O Prophet, why do you declare forbidden what Allah has made permissible for you, seeking the approval of your spouses? And Allah is All-Forgiving, Ever-Merciful.
Research verse 66:1 →
قَدْ فَرَضَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ تَحِلَّةَ أَيْمَٰنِكُمْ وَٱللَّهُ مَوْلَىٰكُمْ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
Allah has indeed prescribed for you a way of untying your oaths; and Allah is your Patron, and He is the All‑Knowing, the All‑Wise.
Research verse 66:2 →
وَإِذْ أَسَرَّ ٱلنَّبِىُّ إِلَىٰ بَعْضِ أَزْوَٰجِهِۦ حَدِيثًا فَلَمَّا نَبَّأَتْ بِهِۦ وَأَظْهَرَهُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَرَّفَ بَعْضَهُۥ وَأَعْرَضَ عَنۢ بَعْضٍ فَلَمَّا نَبَّأَهَا بِهِۦ قَالَتْ مَنْ أَنۢبَأَكَ هَٰذَا قَالَ نَبَّأَنِىَ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ
And when the Prophet kept a matter secret to one of his wives, then when she informed about it and Allah made it apparent to him, he made some of it known and turned away from some. Then when he informed her about it, she said, “Who informed you of this?” He said, “The All‑Knowing, the All‑Aware informed me.”
Research verse 66:3 →
إِن تَتُوبَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ فَقَدْ صَغَتْ قُلُوبُكُمَا وَإِن تَظَٰهَرَا عَلَيْهِ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ مَوْلَىٰهُ وَجِبْرِيلُ وَصَٰلِحُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ ظَهِيرٌ
If you two turn back to Allah, then indeed your hearts have inclined; but if you two support one another against him, then surely Allah is his protector, and Gabriel, and the righteous of the believers, and the angels, after that, are a backing.
Research verse 66:4 →
عَسَىٰ رَبُّهُۥٓ إِن طَلَّقَكُنَّ أَن يُبْدِلَهُۥٓ أَزْوَٰجًا خَيْرًا مِّنكُنَّ مُسْلِمَٰتٍ مُّؤْمِنَٰتٍ قَٰنِتَٰتٍ تَٰٓئِبَٰتٍ عَٰبِدَٰتٍ سَٰٓئِحَٰتٍ ثَيِّبَٰتٍ وَأَبْكَارًا
It may be that his Lord, if he divorces you, will replace (for) him spouses better than you: women who submit, who are secure in faith, devoutly compliant, turning back (in repentance), serving (in worship), journeying (in devotion), previously married and virgins.
Research verse 66:5 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ قُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَارًا وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلْحِجَارَةُ عَلَيْهَا مَلَٰٓئِكَةٌ غِلَاظٌ شِدَادٌ لَّا يَعْصُونَ ٱللَّهَ مَآ أَمَرَهُمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ
O you who have attained faith, shield yourselves and your families from a fire whose fuel is human beings and stones, over which are angels—harsh, tough—who do not defy God in what He has instructed them, and they carry out what they are commanded.
Research verse 66:6 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَا تَعْتَذِرُوا۟ ٱلْيَوْمَ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
O you who covered [the truth], do not make excuses today; you are only being repaid for what you used to do.
Research verse 66:7 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ تُوبُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوْبَةً نَّصُوحًا عَسَىٰ رَبُّكُمْ أَن يُكَفِّرَ عَنكُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْ وَيُدْخِلَكُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ يَوْمَ لَا يُخْزِى ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّبِىَّ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ نُورُهُمْ يَسْعَىٰ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَبِأَيْمَٰنِهِمْ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ أَتْمِمْ لَنَا نُورَنَا وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَآ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
O you who have attained faith, turn back to Allah with a repentance that is thoroughly pure. It may be that your Lord will cover for you your bad deeds and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow, on the Day when Allah will not disgrace the Prophet and those who have believed along with him. Their light will be racing on ahead of them and on their right; they will say, “Our Lord, complete for us our light and cover for us; indeed, You are powerful over every thing.”
Research verse 66:8 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ جَٰهِدِ ٱلْكُفَّارَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱغْلُظْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَمَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
O Prophet, strive against the concealers and the hypocrites, and be tough with them; and their shelter is Jahannam, and how miserable is the outcome.
Research verse 66:9 →
ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱمْرَأَتَ نُوحٍ وَٱمْرَأَتَ لُوطٍ كَانَتَا تَحْتَ عَبْدَيْنِ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا صَٰلِحَيْنِ فَخَانَتَاهُمَا فَلَمْ يُغْنِيَا عَنْهُمَا مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا وَقِيلَ ٱدْخُلَا ٱلنَّارَ مَعَ ٱلدَّٰخِلِينَ
Allah has set forth a likeness for those who have covered [the truth]: the woman of Noah and the woman of Lot. They were under two servants from among Our servants, righteous ones, yet they betrayed them; so they did not enrich them, in any way, against Allah. And it was said, “Enter the Fire along with those who enter.”
Research verse 66:10 →
وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱمْرَأَتَ فِرْعَوْنَ إِذْ قَالَتْ رَبِّ ٱبْنِ لِى عِندَكَ بَيْتًا فِى ٱلْجَنَّةِ وَنَجِّنِى مِن فِرْعَوْنَ وَعَمَلِهِۦ وَنَجِّنِى مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
And Allah has set forth a likeness for those who have attained faith: the woman of Pharaoh, when she said, “My Lord, build for me, with You, a house within the Garden, and rescue me from Pharaoh and his deed, and rescue me from the people who are unjust.”
Research verse 66:11 →
وَمَرْيَمَ ٱبْنَتَ عِمْرَٰنَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِنَا وَصَدَّقَتْ بِكَلِمَٰتِ رَبِّهَا وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَكَانَتْ مِنَ ٱلْقَٰنِتِينَ
And Mary, daughter of ʿImrān, who fortified her private part; so We blew into it from Our spirit; and she affirmed the truth of the words of her Lord and His writings, and she was among the humbly-devoted.
