Surah Al-Baqarah (2:54)
وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنَّكُمْ ظَلَمْتُمْ أَنفُسَكُم بِٱتِّخَاذِكُمُ ٱلْعِجْلَ فَتُوبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ بَارِئِكُمْ فَٱقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ عِندَ بَارِئِكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
And when Moses said to his people, “O my people, you have indeed wronged your own selves by your taking up the calf, so turn back to your Maker, then kill yourselves. That is better for you in the presence of your Maker.” Then He turned back toward you; indeed, He is the Oft‑Turning, the Merciful.
