Surah Al-Mu'minun (23:24)
فَقَالَ ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَٰٓئِكَةً مَّا سَمِعْنَا بِهَٰذَا فِىٓ ءَابَآئِنَا ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
So the chiefs, those who had denied [the truth] from among his people, said, “This is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; he wants to exalt himself above you. And if Allah had willed, He would surely have sent down angels. We have never heard of this among our earliest forefathers.”
