قَدْ سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ قَوْلَ ٱلَّتِى تُجَٰدِلُكَ فِى زَوْجِهَا وَتَشْتَكِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَٱللَّهُ يَسْمَعُ تَحَاوُرَكُمَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌۢ بَصِيرٌ
Allah has indeed heard the speech of the woman who is arguing with you concerning her mate, and is complaining to Allah; and Allah is hearing your mutual exchange. Indeed, Allah is All‑Hearing, All‑Seeing.
Research verse 58:1 →
ٱلَّذِينَ يُظَٰهِرُونَ مِنكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِهِم مَّا هُنَّ أُمَّهَٰتِهِمْ إِنْ أُمَّهَٰتُهُمْ إِلَّا ٱلَّٰٓـِٔى وَلَدْنَهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَقُولُونَ مُنكَرًا مِّنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ وَزُورًا وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَفُوٌّ غَفُورٌ
Those among you who declare their wives to be “backs” (like their mothers) — they are not their mothers. Their mothers are none but those who gave birth to them. And indeed they are surely saying a repudiated word and a falsification; yet indeed Allah is ever-pardoning, ever-covering.
Research verse 58:2 →
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُظَٰهِرُونَ مِن نِّسَآئِهِمْ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا قَالُوا۟ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَتَمَآسَّا ذَٰلِكُمْ تُوعَظُونَ بِهِۦ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ
And those who make their wives “backs” (declare ẓihār) and then return to what they said, then a freeing of a neck is [due] before they two touch one another. That is what you are admonished with, and Allah is fully aware of what you do.
Research verse 58:3 →
فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَتَمَآسَّا فَمَن لَّمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَإِطْعَامُ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا ذَٰلِكَ لِتُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتِلْكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
So whoever does not find [that], then [due] is a fast of two consecutive months before they mutually touch; but whoever is not able, then [due is] feeding sixty needy persons. That is so that you may believe in Allah and His Messenger. And those are the limits of Allah, and for the deniers is a painful punishment.
Research verse 58:4 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآدُّونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ كُبِتُوا۟ كَمَا كُبِتَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ ءَايَٰتٍۭ بَيِّنَٰتٍ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ
Indeed, those who set themselves on a boundary against Allah and His messenger were suppressed, just as those before them were suppressed. And We have sent down signs that are clear, and for the deniers there is a degrading punishment.
Research verse 58:5 →
يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوٓا۟ أَحْصَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ وَنَسُوهُ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
The Day Allah raises them all together, then He will inform them of what they did. Allah has counted it, while they forgot it; and Allah is, over every thing, a Witness.
Research verse 58:6 →
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مَا يَكُونُ مِن نَّجْوَىٰ ثَلَٰثَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ رَابِعُهُمْ وَلَا خَمْسَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ سَادِسُهُمْ وَلَآ أَدْنَىٰ مِن ذَٰلِكَ وَلَآ أَكْثَرَ إِلَّا هُوَ مَعَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كَانُوا۟ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
Have you not seen that Allah knows whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth? There is no secret counsel of three but that He is their fourth, nor of five but that He is their sixth, nor anything less than that nor more, but that He is with them wherever they may be. Then He will inform them of what they did on the Day of Standing. Indeed, Allah is, of everything, All‑Knowing.
Research verse 58:7 →
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ نُهُوا۟ عَنِ ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا نُهُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَيَتَنَٰجَوْنَ بِٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ وَمَعْصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَإِذَا جَآءُوكَ حَيَّوْكَ بِمَا لَمْ يُحَيِّكَ بِهِ ٱللَّهُ وَيَقُولُونَ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَوْلَا يُعَذِّبُنَا ٱللَّهُ بِمَا نَقُولُ حَسْبُهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
Have you not seen those who were restrained from secret counsel, then they go back to what they were restrained from and hold secret counsel in sin, and overstepping, and defiance of the Messenger? And when they come to you, they greet you with what Allah has not greeted you with, and they say within themselves, “Why does Allah not punish us for what we say?” Sufficient for them is Hell; they will be exposed to it, and wretched is the outcome.
Research verse 58:8 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا تَنَٰجَيْتُمْ فَلَا تَتَنَٰجَوْا۟ بِٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ وَمَعْصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَتَنَٰجَوْا۟ بِٱلْبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِىٓ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ
O you who have believed, when you hold confidential talk, then do not hold confidential talk in connection with sin, and overstepping, and opposition to the Messenger; but hold confidential talk in connection with virtue and conscientiousness. And be wary of Allah, the One to whom you are being gathered.
Research verse 58:9 →
إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ لِيَحْزُنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَيْسَ بِضَآرِّهِمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
The secret counsel is only from Satan, so that he may cause those who have believed to grieve; yet he is not one to harm them in anything, except by Allah’s leave. And upon Allah, then, let the believers place their trust.
Research verse 58:10 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمْ تَفَسَّحُوا۟ فِى ٱلْمَجَٰلِسِ فَٱفْسَحُوا۟ يَفْسَحِ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَإِذَا قِيلَ ٱنشُزُوا۟ فَٱنشُزُوا۟ يَرْفَعِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ دَرَجَٰتٍ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ
O you who have believed, when it is said to you, “Make room in the sittings,” then make room; Allah will make room for you. And when it is said, “Rise up,” then rise up; Allah will elevate those who have believed among you, and those who have been given the knowledge, in degrees. And Allah is fully aware of what you do.
Research verse 58:11 →
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا نَٰجَيْتُمُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُوا۟ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ نَجْوَىٰكُمْ صَدَقَةً ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَطْهَرُ فَإِن لَّمْ تَجِدُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
O you who have attained faith, when you hold private counsel with the Messenger, then put forward, before the hands of your private counsel, a charity. That is better for you and more purifying. But if you do not find (anything), then indeed Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Ever-Merciful.
Research verse 58:12 →
ءَأَشْفَقْتُمْ أَن تُقَدِّمُوا۟ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ نَجْوَىٰكُمْ صَدَقَٰتٍ فَإِذْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا۟ وَتَابَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
Did you shrink back from putting forward, before your private consultation, charities? So when you did not do so, and Allah turned back towards you, then uphold the prayer, and give the zakah, and obey Allah and His Messenger; and Allah is fully aware of what you do.
Research verse 58:13 →
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوْا۟ قَوْمًا غَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مَّا هُم مِّنكُمْ وَلَا مِنْهُمْ وَيَحْلِفُونَ عَلَى ٱلْكَذِبِ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ
Have you not seen those who turned themselves toward a people upon whom Allah became angry? They are not from you, nor from them; and they swear oaths upon the lie while they know.
Research verse 58:14 →
أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا إِنَّهُمْ سَآءَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
Allah has prepared for them an intense punishment; indeed, how evil is what they have been doing.
Research verse 58:15 →
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ أَيْمَٰنَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ
They took their oaths as a shield, so they turned [others] away from the path of Allah; so for them is a degrading punishment.
Research verse 58:16 →
لَّن تُغْنِىَ عَنْهُمْ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَٰدُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ
Their wealth and their children will never spare them from Allah in any way. Those are the companions of the Fire; they are ones who remain in it.
Research verse 58:17 →
يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعًا فَيَحْلِفُونَ لَهُۥ كَمَا يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ أَلَآ إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ ٱلْكَٰذِبُونَ
On the day Allah resurrects them all, they will swear to Him just as they swear to you, and they reckon that they are upon something. No indeed—surely it is they who are the liars.
Research verse 58:18 →
ٱسْتَحْوَذَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ ذِكْرَ ٱللَّهِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ حِزْبُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ أَلَآ إِنَّ حِزْبَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ
The satan took full hold over them, so he made them forget the remembrance of Allah. Those are the faction of satan. Behold! Indeed, the faction of satan—they are the losers.
Research verse 58:19 →
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآدُّونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ فِى ٱلْأَذَلِّينَ
Indeed, those who set themselves on a boundary against Allah and His messenger – those are among the most abased.
Research verse 58:20 →
كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَغْلِبَنَّ أَنَا۠ وَرُسُلِىٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَوِىٌّ عَزِيزٌ
Allah has decreed: “I and My messengers shall indeed prevail.” Indeed, Allah is strong, mighty.
Research verse 58:21 →
لَّا تَجِدُ قَوْمًا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ يُوَآدُّونَ مَنْ حَآدَّ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَلَوْ كَانُوٓا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ أَوْ أَبْنَآءَهُمْ أَوْ إِخْوَٰنَهُمْ أَوْ عَشِيرَتَهُمْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ كَتَبَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلْإِيمَٰنَ وَأَيَّدَهُم بِرُوحٍ مِّنْهُ وَيُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا رَضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ حِزْبُ ٱللَّهِ أَلَآ إِنَّ حِزْبَ ٱللَّهِ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
You will not find a people who are trusting in Allah and the Last Day showing affectionate loyalty to whoever sets himself in opposition to Allah and His messenger, even if they are their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their close clan. Those are the ones for whom He has written faith into their hearts and has strengthened them with a spirit from Him, and He will admit them into gardens beneath which the rivers flow, remaining therein. Allah has been pleased with them, and they have been pleased with Him. Those are the party of Allah. Indeed, the party of Allah – they are the ones who attain success.
