Zayn al-Dīn al-Rāzī · completed 660 AH / 1262 CE (a later date also circulates); d. after 666 AH / 1268 CE · Abridgment of al-Ṣiḥāḥ
Most of what you read in Mukhtār al-Ṣiḥāḥ comes from someone other than the man whose name it carries. Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr al-Rāzī took al-Jawharī's al-Ṣiḥāḥ, kept what he thought every scholar needs, "especially the words of the Mighty Qur'an and the Prophetic ḥadīth", and cut the rest. Into what remained he wrote notes of his own, each flagged by one word: قُلْتُ qultu, "I say".
